Fantastic my friend! I am so curious about that friction call! A tutorial on that would be incredible! I make basic pot calls on the lathe but I'm loving the square call!
Thanks, I will do a video on that square pot some day. I made them back in 07, Very finicky to make but get some awesome sounds out of them! Only made a few dozen of them. Mostly glass over glass.
Start with about eight inches or so and then cut it down half inch at a time till you find the sweet spot ,if you go too far just make another, its all trial and error cause there are so many variables.
I am still alive , the camera I used to make videos died and i have not replace it yet. Some day when I get a new camera i will make a video on how to make the Square pot. They are a bit time consuming and finicky to make but the sound is incredible . I always carry a square pot when hunting along with one of my Hen Bitcher X boxes . thanks for asking . Good luck out there.
Awesome video man. I would love to see how you make your pot calls as well. Thanks for sharing and great job. I'm gonna try my hand at making my own strikers after watching this.
That there contraption is called .........are you ready......... a dowel maker. Made by Veritas you can put different sized dies in it to make different diameter dowels.
I see no need to chalk a striker. Actually I sand the tips of my strikers before using them with 80 grit sandpaper. If out calling for half a day I will probly hit them two times with the sandpaper to "clean" them up.
Your right they look totally cool my friend love the rustic

What type of dowel maker are you using? Where did you get it?
It is made by Veritas, comes with different dies for whatever size dowels you want to make . Works very well.

Do you use chalk on your strikers?
