Hmmm... This is so multi-layered though. Sure it's about being made fun of by a girl you liked, but Sanji has always been rejected by women. This is about something else. He thought everything would be fixed as long as he got married, but he is realizing everything won't get fixed by just sacrificing himself. His family whom he hated could die... He is forced into a corner. Everything he did pushing his nakama away... It was all for nothing.
This wasn't a problem that could be solved by just leaving the Strawhats and joining Big Mom. It's smart of Oda to package this in such a relatable issue for guys (getting made fun of for liking a girl by the girl, that's devastating, vice versa is the same a girl can relate to this too) but really there's more going on of course.
This puts Pudding's heartbreaking moment at the end in perspective. Spoiler: I am glad she got to bawl her eyes out a bit too.
Pudding is the one woman Zeff would be okay with Sanji kicking, bitch didn't learn her lesson the Zeff way.
