We call it the hole in the wall too. If you really think about it, that's what it is. I always seem to go to the one that is out of order, it's become a real thing lol.
Yes, my mum always called the ATM ‘the hole in the wall’.😂
Hole in the wall?! Absolutely yes! Marks and Sparks too! We're North Glasgow so maybe it is a Scottish thing. 😊
Yes Ali, whole in the wall, Marks & Sparks, Pyjamas, my favourite attire 😂 are Jim jam’s 😂 Dan has a cruel Mistress 😂 see you tomorrow, Hugs, Suze. ❣️🎄🤗xxx
I love "hole in the wall" for an ATM 😂, I never heard that one here in the states but hopefully it will catch on because it's delightful! I also have to say i love that you put that little boop noise when you put captions on screen because I'm usually crocheting while watching and it's nice to have something telling me it's time to look up.😊 Thanks for another lovely video, time for me to finish catching up on your videos & my crochet project. ❤
Hi Ali! Yes, it's a hole in the wall to us too and we have a pub in our town called the hole in the wa' 😆
Thank you so much for Vlogmas & all of your podcasts! I love hearing your “saying’s” & learning about your customs. (I’m in South Carolina USA) Just wanted you and your family to know how much these podcasts are appreciated. ❤
Oh yes, Marks & Sparks - I can't think of many people who call it by its proper name - and hole in the wall as well. I really enjoy your vlogmas videos, you are so fun to spend time with! Of course you're not like that all the time but you show us that fun face and that makes me want to watch you more, so it's a real win-win!
Yes to Marks and Sparks and The Hole in the Wall sayings in our house too.
Hi Ali,
I don’t usually comment because am an overthinker, but I wanted to *thank you*. I always look forward to your videos, especially daily vlogs. I came for the knitting and stayed for the recipe ideas, cat chat, and Adorable Dan. Happy Christmas, warmest wishes, Jack (on Rav as snakka) x
Ps. Yep, hole in the wall! 😂
Yes exactly! A Nisse is an elf/gnome😊
Oh my gosh those colors🤩🤩🤩
Take care🤗💖
Never be sorry for treating yourself! ☺️💛
Your 100% correct on both reasons..... 1. Watching on TV can't be asked to fetch phone 😂 (apart from this). 2. I always say summit stupid and the whole yt community think I'm weird, so this is the last comment ever 😂...... Till next time! I was going to say summit but forgot now 😮😂
Your safe, I suffer badly with foot IN mouth disease!!
@@lemonbalmmel 😂 😂❤️
Yes, “Hole in the Wall” but can’t remember last time I visited hardly ever use cash nowadays!
Yes hole in the wall or also know here (Australia) as an ATM (automated teller machine) machine yes not sure why we add the extra machine explanation! Loving your shawl I have just started mine with the Enchanted Forest advent.. I also got this year from Henny Penny the weekly advent (love) and the advent from Cookston Crafts and the read along with yarn advent from Helen at Giddy Yarns!! See you tomorrow! 😊💕🦘🧶
Ah Mistress..you are a good soul indeed to let "the help" sleep inside on such a stormy, windy night. He must have done a good job today to deserve an icy pole for treat (we don't call theses lollies).Be careful, not to spoil or he'll take advantage of your good heart. Don't say I didnt warn you. As soon as the weather clears...back to the coop, I say..with a little more straw for pillow...just beacause it's Christmas soon, mind xx😉❤🐨
I don’t comment often - I’m usually listening at work. But I always enjoy your videos- on both channels. If I don’t get a chance to say later - I hope you and your family have a lovely holiday. Happy ho-ho (as I used to say as a teen)!
I love the grey with navy stripe socks at the beginning of this vlog!!!
growing up in certain areas of Wisconsin some of our ATMs were branded TYME (short for take your money everywhere) so we said we were going to the time machine.
What you get out of the Hole in the Wall, I call spit money. You go to the ATM, put in your code and it spits money out. I'm really enjoying your vlogmas videos. I can't say thank you often enough for all the work that you put into them. Plus, who wouldn't tune in for Dan and Mia?
Always call it marks an sparks 😂 always an absolute joy to watch your videos on both channels Ali and love seeing you open the yarn advents 🧶 they're gorgeous colours ❤
Yes, Marks and Sparks and Yes, hole in the wall😊. We had a very windy day too. The letterbox kept blowing open and banging shut. I answered the door to nobody a couple of times until I realised what was happening.😂
Yes it’s “hole in the wall” in our house 😊
Yes, a cash machine has always been a hole in the wall to me, too! My dad always called it that. Loving the vlogs as always 🙂
Yes, nisser are gnomes or pixies or a mixture of both. Christmassy figures, who teases you during December. In old days people say, there would always be a nisse at each farm. They were more like gnomes. You schould treat him well or the crops would fail.
I must admit I usually forget to comment as I fet engrossed in watching. Yes we call it marks and sparks and hole in the wall.
Loved strictly and so pleased Chris and Dianne are through .
My dad also says « the hole in the wall » 😂 and I cannot say anything else than Marks & Sparks… even my French husband calls it that now too!
The curated yarn was made for me, lol! It was my birthday on the 7th and the yarn the for the 7th is my favourite colour range. I like any shade of teal-turquise-cyan.
I'd wondered if you'd ever tried rooibos tea? When people were asking your po box to send stuff I thought the only thing I could try sending you is rooibos tea. I drink earl grey during the day and rooibos at night. In hospital I only drink rooibos! (The brands of ceylon they supply are too strong for me!)
And yes, here in South Africa we also say "hole in the wall" for the atm. My folks lived in Kew/Richmond while my dad worked at Kew Gardens for just over 2 years in the very early 80s, so they could have picked it up there and brought it back with them. I feel like ive heard it from more people than just my family though!
Growing up in Toronto we always said Marks & Sparks and the cash machine is the money wall 😉
Beautiful hook thanks 🙏🏽
Practicing knitting without looking, I find your videos very easy to do that with ☺️ Happy Vlogmas everyone! LOVE that Alice amigurumi doll! The salmon & noodles looks DELISH! Definitely need to try that!
Haha you go Dan! It's the men that REALLY slave over the hot stove! 😝🙌🏻
The colors are LOVELY this time! 🤩
We were blessed with TONS of Christmas lights this year! My dad's a truck driver and found a whole luggage FULL of 6 colored strings of lights and 3 warm ones beside a dumpster! They all light wonderfully and none of them were broken! Wow!!
Shawl is looking LOVELY so far! Cant wait to see it grow!
I'm a few days behind watching - thanks for the lovely vlogs! I would love to try the salmon and noodles recipe if you can share it sometime still!
Definitely a Hole in the Wall. Or Holey in the Walley 😂
Yes to the hole in the wall. M&S do a sparks card I think so it must be a common thing?
I enjoy all your expressions. Some I habe heard my Mom use. Maybe it is because we share a strong Scottish heritage. Which is where my maternal heritage is traced to. They settled in the Appalachian area is The States where a lot of Scottish people immigranted to.
I love all your Advents. I went to the UK 4 times between 2004 and 2008. My daughter was working and studying in Scotland. On one of our trips to England, we went to Shaftesbury and I couldn't believe actually seeing a cash machine being called a Hole in the Wall. I thought that was quite appropriate and loved it. Love, Rosemary, South Africa
I also have Wool is the Answer Christmas eve box Ali and I'm so looking forward to opening it. In our home we all say hole in the wall 😁 xxx
Yes Marks and Sparks and yes hole in the wall. Not a Scottish thing I think, as I am Welsh.😊🏴
lovely stuff 🎉
I always love your vlogs♥️🎄
My sister used to live in Londen for several years, so it is Marks and sparks for me too. And we also say hole in the wall but in finnish, reikä seinässä. You can try to pronounce it😂
My sister who is married to a British guy says that you can’t really translate the Word NISSER to English but ELVES is the word that describes NISSER best. And I totally agree Denmark is also my favourite place in the world even though I have been travelling a lot. When I was young I didn’t really appreciate being born and living in Denmark but after walking the Camino in Northern Spain in 2013 I suddenly realised how fortunate I was ❤️🙏
Yes to “the hole in the wall” and Marks and Sparks.
It’s always going “to the hole in the wall” when we need cash out in our house and always Marks and Sparks! I think you are brave to go into the museum on your own in a storm to open up! I just couldn’t do it as I find those statues so creepy when you show them! Daft I know! Take care xx
In USA, atm. Ty Ali for all your hard work. Hello to Dan and the Girls, a neck scratch for Mia!🎄👏👏👏
I often have a chuckle at your "favourite" things (because everything seems to be a favourite), but when you mentioned Denmark as one of your favourite countries that made me feel all warm and happy inside. I'm from Denmark, but live in the UK and of the two Denmark is definitely my favourite ;) Love your vlogmas and love seeing all the yarn and what you're making x
We use to go to “The Hole in the Wall” restaurant when we lived in Italy. Food was so good!
Marx and sparx since childhood. Yes hole in wall too. I'm loving the paper bookish advent. x
Hi Ali. Definitely Marks & Sparks and hole in the wall!! Glad you got a Tulip Etimo crochet hook. I love mine. x
In this part of Scotland Marks and Spencer is often called Markies. In our house it's called M and S. We say minibank for cash machines.
Lovely to watch your Vlogmas episodes! Here in the Netherlands, our nickname for a cash machine is "flappentapper," which translates to "flap tapper."
Still a #globaldanfan. Please don't let him sleep in the garden! 😉
Hi Ali, thanks so much for the perfect blend you create of real life and cosy feel good moments in your videos. I have watched many of your videos now and always wonder why you have a "No outside clothes on the bed" rule? I've heard you explain what bedding material you like but never this. It makes me curious every time you say it! ❤
You are such a joy! Thanks for sharing your days with us.
My dad Papa go my 2 boys had them out for the day. He decided they would have a meal so went to the whole in the wall. My oldest 7 turned to my mum and said “Gran Papa got free money”. Standard that we now go there for free money - if only 😂😂
Keep the book that goes with the flowers until you can add a pressed flower to the envelope? And maybe a note about them?
Yes to hole in the wall when i lived in Northern Ireland however it doesnt seem to be a canadìan thing.
Ally, you are so honest. Love you for that and for many other reasons. Cheers❤
Yes. Hole in the wall and marks n sparks as I'm from the nw of UK. Xxx
Marks and sparks for sure. Love your vlogs.❤
Yes! Marks and Sparks and hole in the wall. Absolutely loving your vlogmas and you totally deserve to treat yourself. 🎄❤️🧶
I’m so glad that you took the time to do vlogmas again this year!! Hugs from Portugal!! 😘
Yes, it's the hole in the wall. M&S is Markies.
I so enjoy your channel, Ali. Thank you for taking the time to film and edit. Day 6 (I think) you were talking about the advent candles you buy. You might like ti know I bought mine from Rochester Cathedral in February this year. Its a slim taper and there were a few different designs, such as Christmas tree. Father Christmas and so on. I beleive they are for sale all year round for the overseas visitors as well as locals. They burn really well and are around £3 from memory. xx
Just realised I have the same boots as you and in brown too 😂. Always said hole in the wall and Mark's & Sparks too.
In the US, a "hole in the wall" is a nondescript, beer joint, kind of smokey. kind of greasy, not very clean, not very desirable sort of place. LOL We call the machine that spits out money an ATM (Automatic Teller Machine). I had never heard of Marks and Spencer until I heard you say it. We have a store called Spencers {if its still in business), that has joke merchandise, some quite naughty. So I always made my kids show me what they wanted to buy, just in case! hahaha. HUGS!
Ice video yarn is gorgeous.
Absolutely, we call it the hole in the wall.
Yes we live in north wales and we also say hole in the wall for the cash machine and Marks and Sparks for M&S . 😂🎄🎅🏻🧑🏻🎄
Would love to see what British money looks like!
Love your vlogmas, would you mind sharing the recipe for the salmon and noodle dinner Dan cooked, looked delicious xx
Definitely the hole in the wall or simply cash machine. x
We also said hole in the wall. If I watch a UA-cam video I automatically give it a thumbs up. I feel that if the person has taken the time to make edit and upload a video that’s the least I can do. If I enjoy it I subscribe if it’s not my cup of tea I simply move on to a different one. I always watch on my tablet for that reason, my daughter always says - you do know you can watch it on the big tv screen and I know you can but it always feels like you’re listening to a friend chatting on my tablet and I do find myself talking back when you ask a question of your audience, really enjoying vlogmas, thank you ❤
Thanks for your time on vlogs. Sorry to hear the news you received about the lady. It's great to treat ourselves if u can't do it at Xmas when can you. So here's to you enjoying your eve box. Remember to put under your tree.
🎉
Watch you from Japan.❤
Hello from South Africa, i lived in Asford Kent before moving here for my husbands job. Yes, 'a hole in the wall' is the name we also call the cash machines.
I have a question Ali. When you are working on your crochet project with your Advent minis, do you continue until you use all of the color you are currently using? Or do you stop when you have enough to complete the row so as not to have two colors in the same row?
My granddaughter, aged 9 requested to go see Moana 2 for her birthday and she thought I was winding her up when I said I knew someone who had an actual chicken called HeyHey! She was seriously impressed! You should go see it, it was good!
Nope. A cash machine is an ATM round our parts. 🤠
Marks n’ Sparks and Hole in the Wall yes. I’m from Liverpool. Is it a northern thing? 🤔
Are you doing 1000 miles next year? I was just thinking some kind of walk-a-long with you would be very motivating 😊 I’m sure you have lots on anyway but just a mad idea 😅
Thanks for another lovely vlogmas
I love this walk along idea too!
🤩
That rich brown yak - I’d love a sweater made of it!
Does it have a colorway name?
Also forgot to ask where did you get your boots from? ❤
I’m also currently catching up with Vlogmas episodes, but I do also need to edit my own Vlogmas episodes! This is my first year doing Vlogmas and you really inspired me after watching your vlogtober episodes 😄 I was going to do vlogtober, but then couldn’t be bothered 🙈 but I’m sticking to it so far! How do you do it!? 😂
Thank you so much for this amazing video! I need some advice: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How should I go about transferring them to Binance?
Enjoying Vlogmas with you as always, Ali! Can you share what it is about Denmark that makes it your favorite country? Would love to hear more! Btw, "whitter" might be my favorite word that I never hear in the US.❤
Yep, it's a 'hole in the wall' x
Nisser is Santas Helpers I think you call them Elfs
Yep, l said "hole in the wall" before you said it 😂
Ha ha! Freedom for #Danny_the_house_elf!!!! Oh, I love my Tulip hooks. Enjoy!
Hi Ali. Yes to the Hole in the Wall. I’ve just discovered if I open utube on my phone while I’m watching you on the tele it syncs up and makes it easy to leave a comment on my phone whilst watching so may be hearing a little more from me. Not sure if that’s a blessing or a curse! I’ve heard you’re a cruel mistress. Xx
Yep, hole in the wa'
Everything is better in your jammas ( pjs) 😃
The crochet is looking good
Got my EAYF ticket last week will you be going 2025 ?
Dan is so funny! She loves to punish me! LOL. Happy Vlogmas!!
🧶🙂
My Daughter-in-law hates raisins so I told her about how you eat mince pies. She thinks you are a genius!
Dans a keeper for sure.Take care..
Ha ha ... i have never been to the UK but am thoroughly indoctrinated by British fiction and only think of it as Mark's and Sparks! And though my late father-in-law left the UK long before ATMs were invented, he used to go "punch a hole in the wall" when he needed cash out.
It does look kind of creepy at your work place 😱
What's with all the tea you get? One would think you're English! Wait.........😮
