In slot car racing gear mesh is very important. Just the one simple test of you spinning the handles, and seeing the OG Bullet spin longer tells me it’s better. Thanks for the vidjio.
I love the zebco bullet original. However I'm trying to track down someone who does 3D metal printing (it exists) to make a metal thumb button, and someone who can duplicate the black perishable rubber cover out of silicone. Come on zebco, I gave you the ideas right there. Hell make those parts as aftermarket upgrades...I'll buy em.
I’ve been on the fence about this reel for a little while now. I haven’t used a spincast in probably 20 years but I wanted to add one to my arsenal to use here and there for fun. All these problems I’m seeing with the plastic button is really drawing me away. We all know how plastic gets in cold weather so I’m worried I’ll only get maybe one season out of this before it inevitably breaks. Just trying to think if it’s worth spending the money on one of these, or using that money for a new open spinning reel.
Thanks for stopping by and sharing your concerns. If performance and reliability are critical, buy a metal spinning reel. Spincast are easy to use and best suited for medium-class lake fishing, but lack in overall specifications & performance compared to Spinning and Baitcast reels.
The plastic thumb piece killed my day out on the water too. I had high hopes for this reel but I am disappointed with the same issues still there. I am now debating cancelling my pre-order on tackle warehouse. It ships in 2 weeks. I would buy a metal thumb button upgrade in a heartbeat.
I've been watching your videos because I'm wanting to buy an alternative to open face spin cast reels I've been using for decades. I love closed face reels but never could find anything good for anything more than blue gill or crappie fishing. I need a closed face that kills it when bass fishing. I tried a bait caster once and got way more bird nests than my liking lol.
The Zebco bullet line is about as good as it gets for the spincast market. The profishiency Sniper is probably the next best, but the crank power is weak on that reel. Baitcasters get a lot of birds nests!
Thanks for doing the review. You were very transparent in the functions, & how its operating, & I appreciate it! Like the comparison. Maybe send Zebco this review? b/c its definitely some food for though. Especially on the "thumb button".. that's a pretty critical failure point. (Unless you could some how mod your thumb button? like drill out the plastic pivot cylinder & put in a metal one? )
Fantastic video. I agree 100%. ZEBCO needs to get off the cheap wheel wagon and make a 100% metal Bullet. Make it tiger tanktough and totally reliable. No more plastic, especially in the triggers.
So wouldn’t the Zebco Bullet size 20 just be all around better than the MG considering it’s light and I assume didn’t resort to additional plastic and jerky retrieval to achieve it??
To me personally the plastic thumbstop is the only thing im not a fan off in the original bullet. Other than that im huge fan. My original bullet handle came apart one day bc it was loose from the factory so i was able to fix it. No worries. i would rank the new MG at the same level as the OMEGA PRO. Great video btw. Everything seemed pretty standard untill you went in to the scientific chart lol. really nice B roll too for such a simple topic. ill subscribe.
I think you're right on the money with the Omega pro level comparison. Honestly, I think the Omega pro is a better value with respect to the MG's price tag. Haha yeah the whole Magnesium topic led me down the rabbit hole. Thanks for the sub boss.
Not to mention they had an awesome opportunity to name the new bullet something like the hollow point or match grade you know sticking with the ballistic theme The aluminum gears don't bother me as much of the fact that they're not cut finer normally when you go with aluminum gears they put a finer cut on them
I've had 2 Omega's and 1 Bullet all break within a yr of having each one. Luckily they have sent me replacements each time but cam u recommend me a better closed reel?
The best reel that Zebco EVER produced was and still is the OMEGA model, everything after that is just junk, I have Omega reels that I have had for years and they still work like they were brand new smooth as silk cast and solid drag on the retrieve, I will not buy another reel from Zebco until they make something better!!!!
There’s Zebco BULLET 2017 ZB3 max drag is 14lb fancy box extra spool Zebco BULLET 2022 ZBA30A max drag is 12lb clam package Zebco BULLET MG 2022 ZB30MG max drag is 12lb no extra spool crap box I just received my new 2017 Zebco bullet ZB3 seems to be best.
Zepco’s Omega is not that impressive. Omega pro is supposed to have a better ratio I think. This one looks promising so far! I have to pick one up soon and give it a try. The gear ratio sucks on Omega.
Yeah, this video was a piss poor review, if you ever want to know why then let me know, people who learn to fish and get into outdoors for the fishing, they are gonna want to know about the price worthiness and QC, quality of durability of design, with a little common sense, it doesn't take a lot to view the troubled that I thought needed more design, certain spots weren't finished, it has a good crank ratio, but thumb botton was faulty, I remember the top crank head part that wound the string back on the spool, and from what I've seen about the new design, the engineering department made a bad design choice in 2 different ways, I'm thinking the zebco reel could borrow some design ideas from the open spin cast, like Garcia and shimono, why do people want to change a good design that has stood the test of time, and go in the wrong way with, this reel isn't finished in it's mechanical engineering, if it isn't broke don't fix it,
Zebco need to come to grip with the fact that people want a braid ready spincast reel!
This was a solid video. Exactly what I wanted to see in comparison. Just wow on the great work. A+. Thanks man
Agree! There Should Be No Plastic On The Bullet

Thank you. Perfect review
Well done brother! You’ve done your homework!! Very educational 🤙🏼
Thanks boss, hope all is well!
Right on......great review!
Thanks!
Wow! Amazing review

Same here dude. Even there was a aftermaket part you could buy that wasnt a zebco product i'd be on it too.

The handle wobble can be corrected with some realignment you have to loosen the other side of the shaft and kind of play with it
Great review!
Thanks!

@@CastFromTheHip totally agree on the money aspect. right on bud!
i wonder if you can just replace the internals with a bullet with the MG body

mg has a lower max drag 12lb vs old bullet 14lb
Dang, missed that point, thanks for sharing.
There’s
Zebco BULLET 2017 ZB3 max drag is 14lb fancy box extra spool
Zebco BULLET 2022 ZBA30A max drag is 12lb clam package
Zebco BULLET MG 2022 ZB30MG max drag is 12lb no extra spool crap box
I just received my new 2017 Zebco bullet ZB3 seems to be best.
Great info, did you have to hunt this all down or is it listed somewhere? Thanks for swinging by.
@@CastFromTheHip Amazon made it easy to compare different models
Good so I won't waste my money on this model
Thanks for stopping by, yeah wouldn’t hurt for Zebco to go back to the drawing board on the Bullet. Especially at the price they want.
@@CastFromTheHip It's a good spincast reel not great for the money it should be better I think the omega pro is just as good for half the price

Gee, and I just ordered mine.

So they made it worse. Full of crappy plastic..Amazing….

Hey man I always loved pfluger president spinning reels and saw that they make a spincast and was wondering if you’ve heard of it. @CastFromTheHip
