My friend and I rode the Tennessee and Mississippi sections of Sam's route. It was amazing! There was a LOT more gravel than what you encountered. Great ride! Thanks for sharing yours!
Bro watching your videos and seeing you tackle those challenging roads, is inspiring me to definitely get a motorcycle again after 15 years of not riding.... keep up the great work and thanks for all you do for the military veterans in this country !!!👍👍👍👍👍👍

So glad you are enjoying that off roading...a WHOLE NEW dimension of motorcycling! Def enjoying your information and videos! I certainly hope the snows are diminished in Colorado for your next trek.....Im heading there end of June on annual road trip meeting some Texas riding friends around the Silverthorne, CO area for mountain road riding. Im really watching and getting information from your videos as I might try the TAT next year and will swing by the campground for a few days during that ride...your information in this particular video really helps me consider where to start riding it...def Arkansas and maybe a part of Tennessee...Be safe and get ready for a challenge - one that will be well earned!
Adam just wanted to say I've been watching your videos for the past year find them entertaining and inspiring that I'm going to be taking my first road trip 3rd week of June 1600 mile road trip on my 2004 Road King keep putting out the videos and be safe on your ride wherever you go
Adam, Enjoy your particular Tat Route, glad you are matching the terrain to your particular motorcycles and abilities. Your skills and knowledge of the TAT will build through out the years as it offers you more challenges and beauty along the way. I think this year is only the beginning for you in regards to riding the TAT. So much opportunity, beauty and tough challenges still to be explored. I hope you enjoy every second of it! This is what life is all about! Wishing you all the very best.
TAT forum on ADV Rider has some great info about the TAT, that is a good place to start to get that "wish" info you mentioned. Gotta search thru the loads of good info, some kinda so, so. Wade thru and pick out what is most important to you.
Good deal, Good luck! Enjoy your time in the dirt. Be Careful, and Be Safe. I'll be with you in spirit from my lazy boy rocker recliner...lol. Looking forward to seeing the videos.
I have never rode the Tail of the Dragon, but I live in Roanoke, VA and we have roads that everyone who has road the Tail say blow that away. I recently went down to Marion, VA and road the Back of the Dragon about 100 miles from us here. It has sweeping curves, switchbacks, elevation climb, beautiful scenery and much more curves and 3x as many miles. That is a great ride and everyone claims its 10x better than the Tail. If your ever out this way, let us know, we got some guys that would definitely come out to ride with you.
ADAM, I HAVE NOT MISSED ANY OF YOUR "TAT" VIDEOS. THANKS FOR THE RE-CAP, LOOKING FOREWARD TO THE WESTERN SIDE. STAY SAFE, AND STUBBORN. DAN, TATU DAN, in NEW ORLEANS
Keep doing what your doing! I’m a Harley man been to the campground and a world record holder because of you. Love all the videos. Can’t wait to come back to Kriver
If you are looking for shortcuts or detours. DO NOT TAKE ANY ROADS that say Jeep trail or 4x4 only. They are usually like the Rubicon trail (go google it).
Awesome video and information, thank you! My buddy and I decided to break it up into 3 trips. We did NC to Bebe, AR then headed back to Louisiana. We're planning to pick up in Bebe and head to Moab, UT in June or July 2021. Safe travels!
Good luck on the rest of your trip young man, I've been watching for about a year and a half ride a indian vintage myself. Seeing your tat videos has brought back great memories for me when I began riding many years ago
Never done any of Kevin's route, but just did Sam's through NC and half of TN back in November. You might try Sam's through there. No Deals Gap or Cades Cove, and much more gravel. And check out Smokey Mtn 1000 and 500.
With all the dirt roads near your camp ground , maybe you should market to adventure riders. You could have pre-set trail rides on a separate website that folks could review, so they have a travel agenda during their stay camping.
Did y’all check out Wheels Through Time bike museum while you were in Maggey Valley NC?? Looked like y’all were right next to it when y’all started out there.
I agree with the Dragon. We have some amazing twisty roads here in California. We’ll be using gpsKevin for our Alaska ride. Just waiting for the borders to open up, then Sturgis may be put on the back burner till next year. Can’t wait to take our f800gs’s north!!!!! Thank you for taking the time & effort for these vids🙏🏼
Well done. Some buddies and I have done Morehead to Maggie Valley recently and are planning Maggie Valley to Somewhere, Oklahoma at the end of June. I'm enjoying your videos and advice. Keep it up and we'll see ya on youtube. LOL
Great reviews. I'm hoping to trick-out my 2016 DCT AT with bars and bags for off road and do the same. Looking forward to how the ride West goes for you.
There is some great ADV riding in Oklahoma once you get done with the TAT. Look into the OAT Oklahoma Adventure Trail and the GOAT Green County Oklahoma Adventure Tour. A few buddies rode the GOAT a couple weeks ago and said it was amazing.
Living in the Southeast, I have to agree with you Adam on the Tail of the Dragon. Definitely a bucket list item, but so many other roads to enjoy in the area. I've been on the Deagon about 5 times and while fun and technical, there's just too many idiots that put themselves and others at jeopardy. Just avoid the weekends, so you too can say veni vidi vici.
Hey brother one question. It looks like I’m not going to have a two wheeler due to my right foot being cut to half. I’m ok with it but my balance is so off. I think to be safe I may need a three wheeler. Not an ATV but a trike. Do you think it could make it if I stayed on the easy trail roads? What do you think? I want to do the tat so bad. Speedy from Montgomery. Stay safe out there!
Adam thank you for all your information on the TAT. Both my wife are Harley riders she ride a 12 Sportster 883 Super Low. I ride a 12 Electra Glide Ultra Limited. We are planning on do TAT in parts or maybe straight through that has not been determined. But neither of us have any experience in the off road world. I am 56 my wife is 55. I have been riding for 34 years my wife for 15 years. We both have done multiple long haul rides of 5000 miles or more. But we never bike camped. We are back packers so sleeping out in the boonies is not and issue. We are currently outfitting two 250 cc bikes for the adventure. Your navigation advise is huge. When we wheel in our Jeep or F250 I use maps. I don't rely of just GPS. To see you use the maps thank you for including that information. We are going to do some regional off road riding first. Traverse Georgia Trail. It starts on the Georgia South Carolina boarder and heads west to Alabama. It about 340 miles with 280 of it off road. Keep up the great work. Also both my wife and I love how your taking your time and enjoying the ride. So many UA-cam videos I have watched on the TAT have been on tight time frames and are all about the miles. Where is the the fun in that. I am not riding to boast to my buddies that I road here and there. I ride for the thrill of the adventure and to enjoy myself. Ride on, be safe, have fun, stop often, and enjoy the adventure. Keep up the great content we are loving it. Steve and Kristin
isn't that what it's all about... the adventure?! at first, I'll admit we were somewhat preoccupied with knockin down miles but a few days in that all changed and we enjoyed the trip much more. you and Kristin have fun out there brother 👊
Depending on where you're located, you might want to check out the South Carolina Adventure Route (SCAR). It makes a mostly off-road loop around SC, including the shore (scadventureroute.wixsite.com/website)
How have the crash bars held up? Falling down in the rocks, did they prevent damage to everything else? I have a manual 2017 Africa Twin, I play offroad single track and logging trails/roads probably 50% of my ride time, I'm thinking I'm on borrowed time before I damage something so I'm due to get some protection on her. Looking at those crash bars, haven't seen any actual results on how they hold up. You picked the right bike to do the TAT, I had a DRZ 400, and the AT is just overall a better and more capable machine, just heavier.
I covered that in a previous video I think you'll find helpful. I also cover what all is included on the package ua-cam.com/video/FG2OoBUYRYU/v-deo.html
I could see you or Ashley possibly wanting a smaller more manageable bike for some sections in the western trip, like Big Bear Pass in Colorado, although doable on what your riding, a more manageable bike might be more enjoyable for a plan "B" The rocks will be fun in a Jeep but not so fun on any bike in sections.
What were the Maps that you used? Also where to get them? I'm riding from Colorado back to the east due to all the forest fires and closed roads on the BDRS out west.
Okay. On the western section film more of the ride while it is happening less of the staged filming.. Note: you are about to get into some seriously more challenging trails once you hit Colorado. The Alpine loop section watch out for the tight switch backs with big loose rocks. Once you get to Ophir pass the west side is going to be a challenge with a big bike. Steep and lots of big loose rocks. Have fun.
Good review. Are you saying to avoid Cades Cove altogether or just don't get caught there on a weekend? Also, are you or Ashley making any gear changes for the Western half based on your experience with the Eastern half?
there most certainly is a link for that! here ya go: shop.adamsandovalrides.com/help-the-veterans-cabin-build-25-00-donation-no-coffee/ I appreciate your contribution to this project 👊

I’m planning on doing the trip alone, I’m a single woman, with a 500 lbs bike Honda nc700x (dry weight and before it’s loaded down), do you recommend I do the trip by myself?
Ashley is beautiful but she ain't no SISSY! Looking forward to the rest of the story.
I want an Ashley. I already have one I think. She jumped on a trials bike at a demo in Daytona. I wouldn't touch one of those with a ten-foot pole.
I hydrolocked my bike going through the left side of that crossing on the tat...
How many days from Eastern most partof Arkansas to where you left for home?
I'm in NW Arkansas and want to do the Arkansas section of the TAT.
Check out the Green Country Oklahoma Adventure Tour page on Facebook for some more good times near you.
See you out there!
it would've been less but we had a day in there where we had to run off the tat a few hours to have some work done on my Africa twin. you can check that out here: ua-cam.com/video/xmT55K7GTtY/v-deo.html
Adam Sandoval I saw that work you had done. I'm looking forward to watching more.
How do you find the background music for your videos?
