Damn sorry to hear that. Was it a company that came out both times or just someone the landlord knows? Thanks for watching hotdogwater886 & Subscribe to the channel 👍
Why would my refrigerate freeze on the outside of the copper line? I'm in an apartment and it's been months since I've started complaining that my ac doesn't work, they just won't fix it and I can't afford a business to fix it. It won't get below 74 in my unit. The outside ac unit is on the roof of my 3 floor apartment building.
It could be as easy as a clogged air filter or it could be low on refrigerant which would mean there's a leak. Check the air filter & if it's dirty replace it. You would need to shut the AC down to let the ice melt first otherwise it's just going to keep icing up. Hope that helps & thanks for watching LauraB9975 & subscribe to the channel 👍
Man! I changed a bad cap at my property but the air is still not coming out cool enough. Similar numbers to yours. Piston indoor metering device. super heat dead 17 where its supposed to be. Filter is clean. All components are running. Im going to check the indoor fan speed and blower condition but im not sure where to go after that. The outdoor fan and compressor are running. I cleaned the condenser coil last week. Still nothing.
Yeah check the fan speed & make sure all the vents are opened. Maybe the system is undersized for that apt? Or the compressor isn't pumping like it used to. Good luck & where are you located? Thanks for watching & help support the channel by subscribing 🛠️👍
@@ApartmentMaintenance you're the man. I Appreciate the reply. I'm in Augusta, Georgia - Property is a community in South Carolina right over the water. 88 units, all older R-22 split heat pump systems. The compressor does sound abnormally loud - I have to look into how to diagnose a slipping compressor. Thanks again.
What does 'common' mean? BTW: Is it common at the floor to have that circular pan accumulating water in our apartment A/C. And one more thing, are you running the A/C while you are removing the capacitor and installing it coz I can hear the A/C motor running. This is an awesome video.
Common on the capacitor is just the "common" section of the capacitor. It will have a letter C besides the terminals. It is not common to have water in the overflow pan at the floor. There is probably an issue with the condensate drain for the AC or the water heater if it's there as well. No I'm not running the AC while working on it. You hear the other units beside the one I'm working on running. Glad you liked the video. Thanks for watching The Chosen One & subscribe to the channel 👍
This was very informative and a great video. I just have a question in regards to mine at my apartment. Air filter’s replaced at my air handler and maintenance came and “cleaned the coils” and said there was a lot of dust (I don’t know much about a/c and I wasn’t here that’s just what my gf said) I went outside and the outside blower is still running. However it just doesn’t get cold the way it did. It might be at 78 heading to bed, and while set at 70 in that whole night it will only get down to maybe 72 or somewhere around there. Any help? Thanks
The refrigerant charge may be low. Was it working fine before they cleaned the coil? Or did you put in a service request to have it looked at since it wasn't cooling properly & their remedy was cleaning the coil? Having a clean coil is definitely important but after they cleaned the coil & turned the system back on they should have checked temperatures coming out of the supply vents, return vents, & check the charge of the system to verify it's operating at the proper superheat or subcooling. Thanks for watching CBeast101 & Subscribe to the channel bro 🛠️👍
Yes we put in the request because of the cooling issue. Not to talk down on their work, but it was just one of the apartments maintenance guys, not anyone who “specializes” in HVAC so he may have just thought that was the issue. I will recommend to them that the refrigerant may be the issue. Thanks for the help!
@@CBeast101 No problem! Obviously without seeing the system I can't say for sure that is the issue. I'm just giving u suggestions for things it can be. If the coil is clean, the air filter is clean, but the system won't cool below 78° or it does at night but not during the day, I would say to check the charge on the system. It may be low on charge & just needs a little bit to get where it needs to be. Now if it worked properly before, & it's low on charge now I would say there is most likely a refrigerant leak on the system somewhere. That is if it is low. Which it can be a small leak to where they can charge it & then it will be fine for another year or two. I would just submit another service request stating the AC won't cool the apt home below 78° during the day but it does get down to 72° at night & you would like them to check the charge on the system.
I never saw this comment until now for some reason. Yeah I'm HVAC certified. It all depends on where your located. I used to work for a HVAC company for several years but got tired of doing the same thing every day. I like apartment maintenance cuz it's something different everyday.
They are not going to do anything at my apartment they just say it just doesn't work well . This building is only 2 years old 😢 it's an Amana Air conditioning unit build in like a hotel room it should be working. It's 89 degrees in here 4th floor too hot 🥵
@@SaRa-rc6sc WOW! Sounds like they don't know what they are doing. 89° is a tough living environment. Tell them you aren't paying the rent unless they fix the air conditioning. Hope it all works out for you. Thanks for watching Sara & help support the channel by subscribing 🛠️👍

So our landlord called my so and told her aggressively that we are not allowed to run our ac below 70, we run it at about 67, and they kept having issues with this specific ac, long story short, they came and repaired the ac by bandaiding it like usual and oddly enough now our ac will not go under 70. I feel they installed a device to regulate the temp at 70 and no lower Is this legal
@@federicoruiz2087 Sounds like they programmed the thermostat so it won't go below 70°. I would say you really shouldn't run them below 68°. The thermostats for the units I maintain are set so they won't go below 68° cuz it's hard on the equipment & they aren't designed to go that low. I would see how it operates now that it can't go below 70° & see if you still have issues or if it works better. Thanks for watching & help support the channel by subscribing 🛠️👍
