    I don't play competitive games so I wanted a monitor that was big and had a nice to look at display, sense I play games for the visual and story. I found this monitor after a long search and added it to the cart right away. It won't be here till next week. But this review makes me even more exited and happy with my purchase. I was very excited to see you had a video on it!

    I just bought this monitor and I have to fully agree with this review. Also it depends on you graphic card, but if you have some high end and you can go for ultra details and still get 120+ FPS, this 165Hz monitor can give you extraordinary experience in games. On the contrary...with lower frequencies comes little overshoot / ghosting. HDR is really quite bad, but with such great contrast values, you dont need it and SDR is just fine. After 2 weeks of gaming I can say, that this is a great monitor for a good price :)

      1) HDR? Not really, but that goes for every monitor in this class so I just don't bother with it.
      2) I haven't tried fine-tuning it. I just test it as-is, and then use the sRGB profile from testing for use later. I haven't really tweaked the menu settings, just don't find the time :)

    Thanks for the review, great and informative! Can this monitor handle g-sync compatible + 165 hz + hdr at the same time? I am looking for a VA monitor specifically since now I am using TN and I just don't like it at all - the colors are bad, viewing angles are just unacceptable. IPS is good but I heard it can't produce deep black colors. So it leaves me with one option only, which is VA. Also since I'm going for two displays, this curved feature is nice since it allows me to put monitors close to each other without any angle in between. By the way, this monitor costs just 2/3 of the price of Gigabyte CV27Q in my region. I feel like going from 24 inch 60hz TN with no sync features or hdr and with brightness of 250 to this model will be a huge difference.

Zero dead pixels and I love everything about it after only half day of use! I also tried for a few days a 32" 4k Samsung, VA Panel as well but flat and 60Hz only. Great color except pretty blurry even on UA-cam on fast clips. There were a couple more monitors on my list, one IPS panel and another VA but ultimately I got the MSI with 144Hz refresh rate. It was $100 more expensive than the Gigabyte but the build quality it is also better. Is this Gigabyte OC at 165Hz or that's native?

    • @TechTesters
      @TechTesters  3 роки тому +2

      It's always really hard to "show" you the difference. What you see is affected by the monitors, my camera, Adobe Premiere, UA-cam compression, and your own monitor. So it's impossible to look at b-roll and really see the difference. Same as that you can't see a contrast of 5000:1 or more in a video if your monitor only does 1000:1.
      In terms of colors, there isn't really much of a difference between this and a typical good IPS panel with a similar setting.

    There is a problem with this monitor and the samsung odyssey 32'' . Some reviewers have apparently contrast ratios of about 2500/1 and others like you contrast ratios of about 5000/1 . ( Look the g32qc review at rtings for instance ) . The thing is that that massive difference in contrast ratio and therefore to black levels can completely change the overall image quality and HDR performance. It's like there are two panel varieties out there and Samsung and/or Gigabyte doesn't seem to know what panel is installed on the final product.

    • @TechTesters
      @TechTesters  3 роки тому

      Remember that even though 5000:1 and 2500:1 sound like huge differences, those are tiny differences in black levels. It does sound like something to check out though, but I haven't seen any other G32QCs yet.

Hdr on the first is useable and actually pretty good , hdr on the second is not usable , very washed out because of the lower black levels . • @ThelostPenguin0

      @@oDiium1 Local diming zones and top brightness are way more important than just the contrast ratio itself. This monitor can only reach 400 nits and does NOT have any local dimming's.(Local diming means it can regulate the brightness on certain areas of your TV). Your TV can reach 1000 nits, has local diming zones. There is honestly no comparison worth making with a tv that has such a high brightness with local dimming's .
      But that doesn't change the fact that there is something going with the production of the panels. Would also maybe explain why you now only can get the A edition. My panel has much more backlight bleed and more in line of the results of Rtings.

So one with better picture quality, contrast etc. This monitor seems like a great option, however the only concern I have about this monitor is it being 1440p 32 inch. Compared to the 1440p 27 inch gigabyte monitor, how is the picture quality? I know the PPI will be lower but does it really make that much of a difference? Its hard to say without seeing the two monitors in person, so any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

    • @TechTesters
      @TechTesters  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks! Obviously there is a PPI decrease if you go from 27" to 32" but I really don't think it's a real problem, especially for gaming where I really feel that the larger size adds more to the immersion than a higher density.
      It's really subjective though. Not one right or wrong answer. I think if i spent most of my time working on photo's i'd take the 27" instead, if i mostly game i'd take the 32". And general use is fine on both.
