- 3 Ingredient Easy Tangerine Jam Recipe

Prep Time: ~30 mins
Cook Time: ~1.5 hours
Servings: 6 jars
Ingredients
- 1.5L Blended Tangerines
- 450g Sugar
- 100ml Lemon Juice
Directions:
1. Peel and blend your tangerines. Then add to a large pot.
2. In the same pot mix in your sugar and lemon juice.
3. Bring to a rolling bowl and removing scum as it appears.
4. Boil until super thick and is a jam consistency or 105C.
5. Then, sterilize jars by either boiling the clean jars for 20 mins in boiling water or in an oven at 160-180C. Then pour the jam into the hot jars. Twist on the lids and then boil in a large pot for 20 mins.
Remove from water and let cool completely.
6. Enjoy!

Hello! Should it be stored in the fridge straight after being boiled? Can it sit outside for a few hours?
If you go through all the steps of canning it then it is good at RT for a few months! However , if you don’t do the water bath canning, then it will be best to put it in the fridge right away! 2-3 hours at RT to cool down though shouldn’t be a problem though!

Im so sorry for the late reply!!! It might not matter to you anymore but I’ll reply in case someone else has the same question in the future! The lemon juice isnt necessary unless you want to can and store them, in which case you would need the acid to make it shelf safe!

Do you use pectin, what is the consistency when set?
For this recipe I didn’t use any pectin. The consistency is really dependent on how long you boil it. The longer you boil it the thicker it will become (although be careful as the flavor also gets more concentrated). For the jam I made in this video, the consistency is a little more runny than traditional pectin jams but still thick enough to be spreadable.

If you don't do the step of boiling the cans in the water bath then it will last about 2 weeks in the fridge.However, if you can them using the water bath, they will be good at room temp for about 3-4 months!

You don’t have to boil the jars if you are going to eat it right away! However, if you boil them they will be safe for a year or longer!

Would it be the same if I do this recipe using oranges instead of tangerines?
It wouldn’t taste exactly the same but the recipe should still work! The only thing you may want to adjust is the sugar depending on how sweet or sour your oranges are! I hope this helped!

As long as you remove the outer rind, there is no bitterness 😃!
Hello, wanted to know why filled bottles at boiled ?
You boil the jars after they are filled to help kill any bacteria and to set the seal to make them shelf-stable! However, if you are going to eat it right away you can skip this step and just store the jam in the fridge~

Did you take the pips out of the tangerines?
The variety of tangerines I used in this video are seedless so it wasn't necessary. But if the ones from your tree have them I would remove them before blending!
😢I am gutted followed every step& boiled the jam in the jars .But the jam is still running.Shall I empty the jars& boiled the juice again.Pls help
@@josettegrech7914 It will be a little runnier than the consistency of store bought jams but if you think its still too watery, you can take it out of the jars and boil the contents more to thicken. If you wanna test the consistency before canning again you can spoon a little onto a frozen plate to see what it will be like when cooled. Hope this helps!
