I have Cerebal Palsy like Harper in A Curse So Dark and Lonely. It was great to read about a character with it, although my CP is different than hers. The book had a theme that many people with disabilities try to prove: we are just as capable as everyone else.

Another great video Jean, I love that it's longer too!!
I read His Dark Materials and Book of Dust 1&2. These were by far my favourite reads of 2019! Philip pullman is one hell of an author!

I read Bellman & Black and hated it ... but it has since haunted me to the point that I feel the need to read it again. I don't understand how that lady grips you but I love it!

I’m curious now about A Curse So Dark and Lonely! I’ve passed it up so many times, but now I may have to actually add it to my tbr. Great video! 😃

I loved both of those Beauty & the Beast retellings as well so I wanted to recommend you another that I adored - Briarley by Aster Glenn Gray. It's a m/m WWII version that was so lovely and doesn't get the attention it deserves!

I found The Thirteen Tale in a second hand bookshop on my trip to Goa with my family. I had exactly five minutes allotted by my mother to browse the shop (before we made our way to the beach) and I found this book. A week later, I was on the last chapter and my jaw was on the floor. The fact that I found this book and happened to read it is a great factor in how much it moved me.

Idon't know why I was reminding of this when hearing you talk about Tessa Dare, but my boyfriend told me that in his community in Kenya, women that for whatever reason don't have a husband, can decide to get into a non-romantic partnership with another woman, in which they live together and support each other without the need of finding a man. I thought the idea was brilliant and just wanted to share it.

Entreat Me went straight to my tbr for next year, I'm currently on my second Grace Draven book of the week thanks to your recommendations! Also currently listening to the audiobook of Superior, after I'd really enjoyed Inferior by Angela Saini. Her audiobooks are so fascinating, thanks for recommending them! I added Women, Race, and Class to my wishlist, hopefully to be also read in the near future. Next year will also be the year I start reading Juliet Marillier and Tessa Dare, cannot wait!

How do you read so much and so fast in a year? Just looking for tips as I'm trying to meet my target number of books.

If you have read it how similar is silence of the girls to a thousand ships?
P.S. I blame you for the Tessa Dare rabbit hole I have fallen down, currently reading my 4 book of hers this year!

Definitely the Penelopiad by Margaret Atwood if it's a female perspective on the Trojan War and Homer's Odyssey but I have a whole database of greek and roman myth retellings on my blog if you're looking for more (they all have the myth they retell indicated): morejeansthoughts.wordpress.com/classical-myth-retellings/

I’ve added a few of those to my list :) I’m not sure you’re ever mentioned it but I would highly recommend Invisible Women by Caroline Criado Perez. This book opened my eyes to things I never even noticed in regards to gender bias in our lives... ( I am not young either 😊) A fascinating and enraging read 😆
