Great reaction. Queen and David Bowie wrote and sang the song together on its original release but never performed it together. Here, Annie stood in for Freddie as it's his tribute concert.

This is 1992..... a memorial tribute to Freddie who had died in November 1991. The greatest musicians/bands of the world came together to honor Freddie.....

It's April 1992 at Wembley a concert for Freddie as he passed away in November 1991 David originally recorded this song with Freddie so it's his song, and Annie has the eye make-up on from one of the last videos Breakthru, Roger Taylor then girlfriend had the make-up on in the music video, David and Freddie never actually sang it live together, but they held the Aids concert at Wembley as that was also one of the final places Queen sang live, and also this is one of the very rare occasions you'll see John Deacon, he only periodically performed with Queen after Freddie died, in 1997 they put the final song for Freddie and as it turned out for the late Diana Princess of Wales together and after this John retired from public life, he's rarely seen he still lives in the same house he bought when the band became successful, with his wife and they had six children, he's still kept in the loop with whats happening with Dr Brian May and Roger Taylor and still included in all decisions, likewise so are Mary Austin freddies true love of his life and Freddie sister and Estate

The reason the title says Queen is because it is Queen playing. The band (the musicians) is Queen on stage but without Freddy Mercury as he passed away. This is a tribute concert for him. Also As others mentioned, this is David Bowies song. He wrote and then recorded it in studio with Freddy but they never performed it live together. There’s a video someone put together that looks like they are on stage same time but it’s partly from this tribute performance and video from Freddy performing it on stage without David. Anyway. Love the song but am partial to the studio version.

Every once in awhile I’ll look this up and see the love that everyone had for him and his peers who idolizes him just as we did. Annie Lennox is a diva in the best sense of the word. I’d Campari it to Tina Turner. David comes on stage and be astounded by his stage presence. And we eagerly anticipate where his next persona was going to take us. They all three had a voracious musical curiosity. Ever pushing the meaning of the word acceptable. The tribute to Freddie felt extremely personal even with an entire stadium full of his faithful followers.

tbh that benefit concert for Freddy was all gold...dozens of artists coming together each to sing a queen song....Can't even remember all the singers they got to show up for Freddy....like Axel Rose,Elton John...tonnes of people....happened in 1992 after Freddy passed from AIDS to raise money for research....fun fact 72,000 tickets were on sale.....and took less then 4 hours to be sold out....before they released too fans who were going to show up for it...lol

Not really "a Queen song " (@1:56). It was co-written by Bowie and Queen and Bowie actually wrote most of the lyrics and then Bowie and Freddie recorded their parts separately, so that each would interpret it his own way. It was then blended in the studio.
Incidentally, Queen got its big break on TV when they were put on a show called Top of the Pops at the last minute after a video of the latest hit by a superstar named David Bowie did not reach the studio in time to be shown. The producers panicked and a small time band called Queen was put on to perform live in a hurry - and the rest is history. That was in 1974.
If you love Annie's voice, you really must listen to There Must be An Angel by Eurythmics: ua-cam.com/video/RCdneDxFRYQ/v-deo.html
or Here Comes the Rain Again: ua-cam.com/video/TzFnYcIqj6I/v-deo.html

      sorry to be picky!
they went to separateit was a No 1 for Queen and Bowie off booths to improvise ideas, whatever came into their heads just to have a starting point of inspiration. they weren't supposed to listen to each other but Bowie sneaked in when it was Freddies turn who wa very impressed when it was Bowies turn that he counterpointed him, Mack said to him well it's easy when your listening! Freddie may have sworn!
No 1 UK for Queen and Bowie. shame they never got to perform it together.
it was a recording Bowie couldn't get in. no one has explained how Queen got involved, the show only highlights songs in the charts, highest entry..top ten.. they didn't have anything in the charts!
they performed/playback Freddies seven seas and it got a good response, they ended up doing 3 altogether.
they managed to get it released quite quickly and it got to No ten their first chart single.
later in the year they were back with killer Queen No 2. slow to get their start but then they were on a roll!
they had to film seven seas in the weather studio as the BBc were on strike!
I'm not certain if the Beatles had sent in a video of them performing a song previously. but I think Bo Rap may have been the first video used in 75 or at least of that type

i never used to like this version cause i could always hear freddie and although i love annie she ain't freddie.now watching this with you i finally like it so thanks for that.
this was quite emo for me still.i believe this tribute concert (with money going to aids charity.notice the red ribbon on annie's dress)was the year after he passed.i still don't know hoe they were able to perform being how fresh their loss/grief was?
please do somebody to love by george micheal from this concert next.would love you to check the rehersals out as well.
back in the day i could see david trying that dress on and performing in it as he had an androgynous look in the 70's.his wife would have looked fab in it too.

I assume you’re referring to his second wife, Iman. But of course that woman could wear a literal trash bag and make it look high fashion. Talk about two cool, fabulous, and gorgeous (not to mention successful) individuals in their own right, who just happened to team up to form one of the most glamorous and coolest couples ever in history. They were just one of those celebrity couples I couldn’t help but just love-just seeing them together, and always so adorable. Obviously happy together.

Yes, this was a tribute concert to Freddie Mercury who had died a few months before. You are missing the hit of this incredible concert...George Michael singing Somebody To Love. George had a lot of pressure on him for this performance. First of all, nobody expected much from him. Not all Queen fans were George Michael fans. Second, this was not only his favorite Queen song it was also Freddie's favorite Queen song. Finally, unknown to most people at this time, George had fallen in love for the first time in his life with a Brazilian named Anselmo Feleppa. Shortly after Freddie passed away, George learned that Anselmo had also tested positive for the virus that caused AIDS which was a death sentence at the time. George said he knew he had to do two things during his performance...pay tribute to his friend and idol Freddie and pray for Anselmo. Unfortunately Anselmo passed away about a year after this performance. Brian May of Queen admitted that George's performance was the best of the concert. Something you should definitely check out!

Yes, Bowie and Queen wrote the song together. Really? Sounds solidly like Bowie to me. (Dang, my front door just opened by itself. No one there.)
