Part 1: • Jon B: There Were No W...
-----
In this clip, Jon B discussed working with Babyface and how Babyface's music and vocal ability greatly influenced him. Jon B even said that he would mimic Babyface's voice in order to impress girls. He went on to reveal that his initial foray into music was meant to be on the production side of things but eventually transitioned into being a performing artist.
Later on, Jon B talks about his smash record "They Don't Know" and he admits when he made the song he thought it was his best ever.
When it comes to Jon B I don't see a culture vulture, I see someone who genuinely has a love for the culture and music. He never switched up his sound or changed who he was. Really love Jon B
Jon B got some HEAVY hits outside of They Don't Know, people sleep on his catalog. Dude looks like he has not aged at all.
FAX. DON'T TALK..
Mr SnubNose r you still down a classic
Black women keep him looking young lol
Hell yeah I have ALL of his album ..been loving all his albums since 95.
@@Ms.Carla86 FACTS. Beautiful Black Queens❤️ It's nothing like them❤️
"They Don't Know" is such a timeless song!! The dude pays respect to the culture that he's literally part of it!
Dont say that to lord jamar
Respectfully asking, yourself as a black man, how do u feel about Lord Jamar s comments about Eminem, or I guess white people in hip hop.? And yea Jon B was the shit!!
Lewisland ft
@@lrob6971 I feel Eminem has done a lot to be part of the culture. His contribution is undeniable. And I guess this is where I disagree with Lord Jamar. On the other hand I get his point where he says not every black person can relate to Eminem's music because I don't and it's fine! Sometimes you listen to a song because it's good and not because you relate to it.
Its a difference when white people take the culture and use it to their benefit. . But its another thing to submerge yourself into black music and give back to the culture while paying homage for influencing your style. . Thats the deal breaker for me
Jon B is an R&B legend. Race has no boundaries when it comes to pure artistry.
THX U, KING STAN!!!!! I like JonB, but the man STUDIED, ATE, SLEPT & DRANK black folks music and culture.....SIMPLE AS THAT!! He said it himself! I can't stand when people always want to play dumb and make these stupid comments as if white people like him, Justin Timberlake, Robin Thicke & Bruno Mars were born with the singing, dance and musical style that they portray to the world... People never want to give black folks credit for ANYTHING!! smh
@King Stan^^^^ you ignorant as fuck bro! Both of yall.
I’ma say this again. “Don’t Talk” by Jon B. is still MY SH*T!💯💯💯
4ever
🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
When that song comes on I'm like "OH SHIT!!!!"
I agree and that was a dope record and I felt like that record should of been bigger than what it was but for some reason the label didn't push it like they did this other singles and then he was dropped from the label but at least he tested the waters to see if he can do it on his own and I respect that.
YES!
We seen Jon B and clicked ASAP real old school R&B . Back when music was real still .
Nicholas Pierre Coleman exactly. They don’t make music like that (very much) anymore. It’s like the bar has been lowered!!!! Seriously!!! Smdh
@@menosbbgirl the bar has been destroyed. These new artist can't sing without auto tune lol blame T pain .
Nicholas Pierre Coleman lol yea I definitely clicked asap. first thing I thought bout was him and TUPAC song are you still down. 😎 classssic
@@Lessoninablessing classic . On mamas. First thing that popped in my head " R U Still Down ? " 🏁💯
Nicholas Pierre Coleman bingo😎🤙
Before Robin Thicke & Justin Timberlake Jon B. was the man💯
GunLineBoss 87 Robin Thicke was signed to Uptown and released a single in 2002 so I think he came out before Jon B.
Justin T is no r&b at all... he's a punk bitch
@@eelised7805 oh ok I did not know that good info bro💯
You know wut I meant when I said that tho lol a lot of people dont bring him up in the convo when they talk about smooth R&B white boys
@@eelised7805 how if Jon B been around since early 90s
He seems really humble and respectful. Dope.
He is check out his unsung episode
I just said that!! Great minds think alike 😁
Especially towards the culture✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿
His Unsung Episode was incredible
Sanford Lanham yes it was .. so was Montell Jordan’s .. did you see his?
It was OK but it focused too much on his race rather than his music. This interview has been a lot more information.
"They Don't Know" definitely one of the top joints from the 90's.
Absolutely not
💯💯
For the year it came out it was one of the hottest.. but I wouldn't say hottest of the 90s
facts
Factz
I had to play They Don't Know again. That song is timeless, man. I still love it.
Jon B is very important to the R&B community....got to have some Jon B in rotation
Bon J
Brah I can listen to 90's R&B all day and not request a Jon B song! Lol
When I first heard “Someone to Love,” I thought it was just Babyface.
That’s maybe a reason why Babyface got on it lol
+FrankWonderBeantown LOL me too
You ain’t the only one. I was like “that’s a white boy sanging like that?” lol
OMG I’M 40 That was my thoughts, exactly!
FrankWonderBeantown what!? I still did until just now! Literally!!!🤯
Jon b is a vibe!
i like that he gave johnny gill and ralph props
Word👌
I’m 23, but Jon B got me with “Someone To Love” and “Overflow”. Been listening to his art for years now 🙏🏾
Everything musically that Babyface touched back then was golden: Jon B, Toni Braxton, Karyn White, the Soul Food soundtrack (?), the Boomerang soundtrack (?).
Kobies Boxing Truuuuuuue.
Waiting To Exhale soundtrack, too.
Siedah Holmes Hell yeah, that soundtrack was fire. It's just my history of Babyface was kinda blurry.
Jon B. “Pretty Girl” is a good song as well.
Leon Hurricanes love that song just learned that song in 2016! I wished would have learned it earlier
That's my favorite Jon B song.
Leon Hurricanes that’s my favourite too
If you were a dude who sang when this album dropped, Pretty Girl was a smooth song to serenade girls to. For real.
Listen to After 7 album Reflections the songs he wrote for them are dope
Vlad @ 9:07.. "I'm not really an R&B guy" Um you're not really a Hip Hop guy either Vladimir
😭💯FACTS
I read this in the voice I think you wrote it in 😂
@@444bakari9 💯👍😆
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂💯💯💯💯💯
GADRA 7 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Back in the day if you had a chin strap beard we called it the “Jon B” lol
U a Damn lie!!
canon Evans naw I ain’t, in some occasions we did lol
Lol so true
Yup 😂
If you don't mind me asking. Where are you from?
“Time after Time” from his bonafied album still one of my favorite R&B songs ever
Yessss that song is crafted so well
The 3-track finishing stretch on Bonafide are my favorites, especially "Gone Before Light". His performance on "Love Don't Do" reminds me of Sade for some reason. Honestly, that song feels like a Sade track lol
kiaba360 - yess those songs where so obscurely sexy and luxurious, I miss that realm of songwriting and production
Jon b was a good artist
He respect the culture
The entire cool relax album was so dope
Patrick Smith classic
“Calling On You” is a underrated song.
Drake sampled that
Reginald Daniels I think Drake did good
@@reginalddaniels1137 the sample was used inappropriately
ThaHeadRaider 32 nah it was decent
That whole album is slept on. Straight 🔥
He had us out here not listening to what people say
🤣🤣🤣🤣💯💯💯
He has so many classic hits but "ISN'T IT SCARY" is slept on! Jon B is definitely a legend.
Jon B is a white boy that respects and loves the culture and contributes positively to it. Vladamir on the other hand is a white boy that's obsessed with the negative aspects of the culture and exploits it and vultures off it, key differences. Anyway Jon B is a 90s r&b goat idc no discussion.
Well said.. I always use to say "Jon B is the only white cat I truly accept in Black Culture".
Can’t wait for the full interview
Me too
unappreciated LEGEND!!
Jon. Is such a great person. Humble brother. I love this brother it was such a pleasure meeting him.
I've always been a fan, but I Love Jon B even more after this interview! His spirit is so genuine and humble. 💙
Everyone's waiting on the part of the interview about making Are U Still Down with 2Pac.
De Lawrence Robertson frfr
That song is Classic & Pac's lyrics killed it.
I'm enjoying all of the interview so far.
Yup
He looks good....dare I say better than he did back in the day...damn 👀
Everybody keep talking about they dont know is a classic but are you still down was definitely that classiccc😎
Vent Williams yas that was the jam 👏🙌🏽
I am so in love with Jon's speaking voice. He can talk to me all day every day.
They Don't Know,
Whatcha Say Boo,
Someone To Love
Are You Still Down
and Now Im With You, by Jon B.
These Songs Are Guaranteed 🔥🔥🔥
Lol
My girlfriend loves his music
Don’t sleep on the track “Pretty Girl” from the same album. 💯👌🏻
"Pretty Girl" is still one of my favorites 😎❤
Get ready for Vlad to milk the Tupac questions on the next clip
Why wouldn’t he ask him about Pac? They worked together, so quit hating. We want to hear about Pac.
See if you can find and interview Craig David.
I was just thinking that 💯
Fill me in remix!!!
Brahhhhh.... u da real MVP.
This needs to happen. He moved back to he UK a few months ago. Not hard to get in touch with him
See Jon not a culture vulture he a student of the game. Justin Timberlake on the other hand is...
AGREED!!!!
tracksgalore amen
tracksgalore not only that what the heck has Justin given back to the black community
@Arielle Edwards but didn't black people start country music though?
Justin is not a culture vulture have you not listened to his music from when he was in Nsync, plus you need to watch the making of his first album justified on here.
I prefer.."Someone to Love" as my favorite Jon B joint. "Pretty Girl" was fire to but someone to love was so smooth and incredible.
T.k Kirkland be like "yea vlad, jon b was sleeping on my couch when he wrote that song" 😂😂😂
🤣
Overflow is still one of my favorite Jon B. songs....way underrated.
Clicked because he is so handsome. ♥️
Women are just like us...they just be frontin
Huh 😕
Propane K 1982 yeah he fine AF
Jon B has amazing body of work go back in the archives and look at some his albums dude is the truth‼️‼️
I have his album "Cool Relax" on repeat. For those of you that dont know manager Sandy Gallin managed MJ, Jon B, Cher, Dolly Parton, Mariah Carey, Whoopi, and many others.
Brown Royal my fav Jon b track right there 👌🏼

*2PAC* feat *Jon B* - "Are You Still Down?"
That whole album......grew me up!! Still in my playlist.
Legend.
You get the vibe that Jon B. Uses cocobutter and jam hair gel
They Dont Know is one of my favorite R&B songs of all time
Jon B. my favorite white dude and his musical catalog is timeless! R&B hits for days fa sho!
Anybody who's a fan of John B knows that he wrote and produced his entire first album outside of the two songs produced by Babyface. Played nearly all of the instruments. He actually had more guest producers on the second album then he did on the first.
Tim & bob were bobby valentinos producers too
CEE White Bobby V first album is a TRUE classic.
People think that just because he had "2 hits" (even though he had more) that he's being hyped up (I see you haters). And that he isn't a legend & earned his RESPECT in the R&B game. Go look at his resume. I promise he has worked with some of your favs!
2Pac, Jay Z, Nas, Scarface, Snoop, AZ, Cuban Link, Paul Wall, Beenie Man, ODB, Guru, Dub C, DJ Quick, Kurupt, Eric Bellinger, Donell Jones, Faith Evans, Tank, TLC, Coko, New Edition, Toni Braxton, Luther Vandross, Color Me Badd, After 7.
It like he said he wasn’t trynna be an artist so if anything he overshot his goal
Klay Thompson on Vlad trolling us like he's Jon B!!!! 😂😂😂
RoR Free lmao 😂
Vlad said he's not a R&B guy lol. Vlad wants to be a true thug from the streets??!! Lol
True thug from the streets have to listen to rap only??
@@rpk1878 it's just dumb nigga logic
Smooth white boy no homo jt and Robin Thicke got their career from him
Facts he was the first white boy with that real black soul
Cool Relax is a classic album. I listen to every song on that album to this day it's still in rotation.
Cuz over here looking like the Punisher
_Pleasures U Like_ & _Stronger Everyday_ , certified classics. Slow jams bump.
His song "THEY DON'T KNOW" still resonate 2 this day. 🎶 don't listen 2 what ppl say that don't know bout you and me 🎶 put it out your mind cuz it's jealousy.😂😂
Cool Relax will ALWAYS be an r&b classic!!!
“They don’t know” is one of those songs I play daily!
+KpTheG LOL me too
Joshua Mills I’ll pass.... God Bless
🥰 Take me back in time... please!!!!
I have always loved how natural he is in his swag.Hes never tried that “act black” mess.Love him!
Arguably one of the greatest and Timeless 90s R&B songs ever
"Touch you in the places no ones been before and I'll kiss you in the places men sometimes ignore" 🙌
I remember a lot of people thought it was Michael Jackson's song on "They Don't Know", the way Jon B. came in on that song he sounded just like Mike. Timeless classic!!!
6:34 looks like he did Toni Braxton shape with his hand when he said her name..lol
Lol
How in the hell Klay Thompson can do an Vlade TV interview and play in the NBA Finals at the same time?
antdogg2008 ahh u afool
Someone To Love,Burning For You,Just Get On,[Don't Say],[They Don't Know],Cool Relax,Are U Still Down,Whatcha Say Boo,Let Me Know,Ohh So Sexy,[Don't Talk].... Cocoa Brown,Hands On You, Az U.. not to mention what he did w/Quik.. he is R&B in so many ways..
I loved 'Callin on You' too! Shout out to Drake for sampling lol
Still bumping Cool Relax!! Perfect album title.
Damn near perfect album.
That is dope how humble he still is and apart of our childhood if u were a teenager coming up in the 90s #stilla80sbabytho
Lord Jesus I've always loved this man😍😍😍
Okay im still married too him in my mind we going on 20yrs now 🤣🤣🤣
I know I have probably commented this on each part of the interview but Jon B’s voice is so soothing. It’s smooth!
It’s giving me a quiet storm vibe.
Jon B interview Part 3: so how did you and Tupac meet?
I'd be mad if he didn't ask
Max Kellerman 😂😂😂😂😂. JonB a legend though ✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽
traydacreatorbeats 😭😭😭😭 max kellerman tho
Jabar Staples John b, Max kellerman, Klay Thompson all these dudes look alike. Lol he’ll even shaun Livingston
@@traydacreatorbeats4228 Look up Mac Da Camoflague Assassin. That's Shaun Livingston all day!
Someone to love is the greatest song ever! It’s on repeat everyday :)
He still look great 💗
Before Robin Thicke and justin timberlake there was Jon B.
Dude looks and sounds just as good 20 years later!!
I still heavily bump "they don't know" and "are u still down"! such classics❤
@6:45 He’s 100% right. When he first hit his peak, it was hard to tell the difference between his sound, Face’s, and Tony Rich. They all had hot tracks on the radio simultaneously, but all held the Babyface branding to the vocals & melody.
Jon B still fine AF😍. His black wife need to stop giving him our black don't crack secrets 😩
Lol!
i like this guy man, seems like a genuine dude
Robin Thicke is good but Jon. B,, IMO,,is the ONE who should have the stage that Thicke is on...Again,,I like Thicke and the great music he has written,,but Jon. B seems to have more of a connection with the R&B vibe and he is a true pioneer in the 90s "Blue eyed" Soul.., ONE OF THE GREATEST SONGS HE WROTE IMO,,,is "Do it all Again"..wow,,how the chords matched the feeling of what he was saying.,.Jon deserves a larger stage for sure...
Thicke is Great
Jon B is Legend
I’m only 21 years old, young buck. And I thank my older sister who put me on R&B as a kid growing up. Jon B is one of those artist my sister would always listen to when I was a kid, dude is fly
“They don’t know” is for me, a dedication to a woman that I was with for almost 30 years,
BUT.....
“Shine” is my VERY CLOSE SECOND favorite of all his songs
They don’t know is one of my favorite R&B songs of all time. That guitar in that song is so smooth
He’s worked with so many legends and is one in his own right
Still love me some Jon B😍😘😘😘
