I just went back and listened to the Jon B they don't know instrumental then the song Why by Robin Thicke and yeah it's most definitively the same beat with an added razzle dazzle.
Some of y'all hating on Jon B's remarks is laughable. Just because he didn't like one sample of his song, that doesn't mean he hates the rest. If we're being honest, Gunna hurt that song with his singing and mumbling.
😂 It was over two and a half years ago and he should take that up with the label at this point…That album was a heavy label pushed project way before they got involved with that Fed case so Jon B “should’ve known by now” that it was likely long out of the artist’s hands… Given that Gunna isn’t the head of that label they likely presented it to him as a completed mixed sample and he just went with it thinking it was cleared.
@@Pikachu-qr4yb True, but he made it way more personal than he needed to given that the record was put out nearly 3 years ago… You can tell there’s no lawyer or label communication going on to his end as he was all off on the timeline talking about “what’s that ratchet song that came out last year?” Like dude, out of all people “you should know by now” 😏
Put some RESPECT on Jon B’s name! The most underrated artist with so many timeless hits and he is such a pure and humble soul. I saw Jon B live over a month ago in London and when he performed “They don’t know” that was the best night of my life! Love you Jon ♥️
The interviewer clearly didn't care about none of the gunna stuff cuz he cut him off to steer it back to the song, didn't even acknowledge what he was saying
Any creative loves a sample of its done in good taste and gets approved beforehand. So I can understand why he’s upset with Gunna and Chloe Bailey, the song isn’t good and I’ve only heard a little of it.
the time signature was all off, the lyrics held no creative imagination...i agree. i actually like samples and when the new generation finds the classics, but this wasn't it
Everybody has an opinion. There are plenty of instances when artists have reacted to their music being sampled. I respect him for calling out Gunna and Chloe, because that song is not defendable by any means.
It’s not as simple as you think. Most of the time, the labels be clearing these songs to get sampled whether the artists want them to get sampled or not because the artists doesn’t own the masters and the publishing. The labels do
Sorry but Jon B relax. The song could have been better but you have no room to complain because you don’t even own the song. You benefitted off of black people listening to your music.
Jon B. should be honored and glad that the new school is trying to keep his song alive. He shouldn’t be like this because it could turn people off from him.
They Don’t Know is a classic… it was “alive” before the remake and it will be here for years to come. It didn’t need a ratchet remake turning a beautiful love song into a thot anthem. 🙄🙄
That’s the thing with classics… can’t turn someone away from something that’s timeless. Even if people didn’t like the Artist, the music stands strong.

@@AdrianAire The song is ratchet and bringing race in this is just utterly ridiculous and plain silly. What’s wrong with him using that word to describe the song? Only people that had permission was Chris brown and Aaliyah ❤❤ so many people sampled that classic
I couldn't even bump that Gunna record around the family lol explicit for no reason
Amen to that shit for Jon B.
Good, he only said what all of our ears already knew. They Dont Know is a classic for those of us from the 90's. Jon B my guy for life.

Why not reach to them directly ? He probably dont own the song thats why it took him two years to call them out.
