The whistle on the saddleback #17 is absolutely the most hauntingly beautiful whistle I ever heard!! 4-chime, it blows A major 6th, 1st inversion. Also it harmonizes perfectly with the 5" Lunkenheimer chime on the little Shay! Neat!
Yep. The one thing MRSR doesn't have, though, is a logging mallet. To see one of those in operation, you'll have to visit Snoqualmie (that is, after #11 is returned to service).
Now Mount Rainier needs to get new tires on the 91, and get the shay 11 fixed up, then valaaaa, it'll have all 4 geared engines, a tank engine, and a conventional tender rod engine (meaning #70)
