Paul Last Yeah that's because now car designers only think about aerodynamics, fuel economy and safety which is stupid, they don't even try to make the car look great. that makes modern cars sooo boring.
Many of these classic American cars can be seen at car shows every weekend here in Los Angeles and throughout California. I go to the Derelict Donuts car show in Huntington Beach, California quite often, you can see anything from rat rods to 1950's and 1960's Detroit Iron. Agreed, a lot of what they did was just creative. Some things worked some didn't. Personally Chrylser had terribly styling because the went over the top with exaggeration of chrome and fins. The 57 Ply was ok though but couldn't touch the 57 chevy in styling.
Yes, many Chrysler products from the fifties were quite ugly. They rectified the situation in the mid-sixties with such models as the Charger, the Monaco, the Polara, etc.. And what about the Challenger in the early seventies ? ... Stunning !
Bob Morane One fellow told of a Dodge Omni/Plymouth Horizon he saw at a dealer that had the Dodge Omni nameplate on one end of the car and the Plymouth Horizon nameplate on the other end.
Very, VERY nice cars. Cars used to be so beautiful. They could be repaired at home. They had nice lines. They we really works of art. Love the video and music. Thank you

+Paul Wood Maybe for you it would but it was still a union built GM piece of crap back then. Most 1950s American cars were steaming piles of crap back then and they just happen to be over glamourized turds by those whom actually lived back in those days when they were of age to well remember them but conveniently ignore their poor built quality and reliability issues out of some sense of patriotism and also by those that weren't even alive back then to experience them for themselves but just have some weird preoccupation with a time which they didn't come of age and live through to experience the era for themselves but they just have a fascination with it for some odd reason possibly due to some misguided sense of nostalgia thinking that it's an era all full of wonderful fairytales and princesses possibly due to the happy sentiments shared with them by others that were alive and of age back then speaking of the era favorably and the glossy depiction of the decade by the media. The modern cars of today in the 21st century far bypass 1950s American cars in terms of built quality, gas mileage and reliability but that's something that many American car enthusiasts and nostalgics have difficulty admitting.

Not so great for an 18 to 20 year old boy..the military draft was hanging over their heads. Every boy had to serve in the military unless he was lucky enough to be classified 4-F.
The cars of the 50's & 60's, and, to some degree, the 70's, were the most beautiful and wonderful cars ever to be made. Today cars are nearly carbon copies of each other. No personality. No imagination. No creativity. Made of cheap plastic and aluminum. People get "wowed" by the electronic gadgets in the dash and pay no attention to how cheap the cars are. Also, the cars of today are built with obsolescence built in. They are not made to last. The cars featured in this video were meant to last a generation: 20 to 25 years, at least. Sigh. I wish there was some way I could go back in time to the 50's and 60's. It was a much better country than it is today. This country is rotting/decaying away. It isn't as great as it once was.
Surely the cars of the '50s and '60s also had built-in obsolescence? Body styles were changed every single year, and much emphasis was put on having 'this year's' model. The styles WERE amazing though, and I'm not even American!
Pretty much every car in history looked the same. They all followed similar trends. While old cars are nice to look at, there's some new cars that look pretty nice as well. :)

We will never be able to recreate this era again, This era was a real gift to America after all the wars, death, famine, depression, economic disaster, this was our prize for enduring it all, Man I wish I could have seen it.
why can't cars be that cool today? i looked at a Kia soul a few months ago. it cost a hundred dollars a month, that's why. the whole engine bay was covered in plastic. the cab was mounted to the engine that was mounted to the front axle and transmission that was mounted to the wheels. it could have been more structurally sound if it had some duct tape and Velcro. not to mention you have to be a computer engineer to work on it...

Nice presentation but I wonder why one of the most impressive cars of the 50's are usually missed; the Oldsmobile 1957 super 88 and 98 series. Not only beautiful but tremendously powerful with their V8 rocket engines. You always can find tons of Chevys, Fords, Caddys, Chryslers and so on.
My 2 favorite cars from the 60s are the 1965 Impala Super Sport and the 1965 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight. Both as convertibles, painted candy-apple red. Unfortunately, if I get one today, I'd have to board it elsewhere, as I don't have a garage. Why 1965? It was a great year for music and Detroit had its best sales that year. You made a beautiful video.
Corvair was super dangerous to drive Ralph Nader got famous with a book about it he published titled "Unsafe at Any Speed" the Corvair had a tendency to flip over on turns if you went too fast into a turn the Corvair would roll over it happened to a lot of people.

Beautiful classic cars of the era, excellent video and music, many thanks ☺
Shared on Google+ American Classic Cars 50's 60's (10/13/2015) The kind of cars I like, and enjoy them very much. All the best to all.
Wow that Caddy at 4:53 is amazing that's the coolest classic car it's a fantastic dream.
Im from across the creek in Windsor Ontario Canada'a auto capital love the Detroit woodward cruise lots of Dertiot Iron. Great Video
The cars back in the days 1973 on back had there own personality
BEAUTIFUL CARS . WHEN THE THINGS ARE MADE TO LAST. WE ARE DRIVING CRAPS TODAY.
Old old old gooooood times,God bless America
This when cars had style. How I wish I had my parents 60 Chevy convertible or my uncle Larry's 58 Impala 2dr. hardtop or my cousin Edward's 62 Impala 2dr. All 3 were outstanding.
Imagine buying one of these cars brand new, straight out of the box. Happy days. p.s. Love the Mercury 59
We will never be able to recreate this era again,
This era was a real gift to America after all the wars, death, famine, depression, economic disaster, this was our prize for enduring it all,
Man I wish I could have seen it.
why can't cars be that cool today? i looked at a Kia soul a few months ago. it cost a hundred dollars a month, that's why. the whole engine bay was covered in plastic. the cab was mounted to the engine that was mounted to the front axle and transmission that was mounted to the wheels. it could have been more structurally sound if it had some duct tape and Velcro. not to mention you have to be a computer engineer to work on it...
Walker Ashcraft Yeah I don't understand Why. These cars are so much more groovy and have a great feeling
modders take notice: please bring some of these cars to GTAV PC :D
YES GOD YES
I have GTAV. As you know some of these are in the game altered slightly and have different names. You make out what the cars are sort of. But GTAV couldn't add the cars with out getting Li$ and approval$. from the auto makers. Could be co$tly
That's neat! Yea those cars were a pain to keep running right. Major tune up every 10K miles. 10 mpg. The smell of gasoline and exhaust fumes on the road. I miss those days.
Great video philmotronic! The two previous to the final Lincoln Continental & Lincoln Premier is the "cherry on the cake"
Lovely adequate music also.
Thank you !
My fear is that My generation will never be able to witness Car companies actually be unique and beautiful as they once were.
Me to brother):
Damn cool Wis I could back in 50-60th and just drive across USA
My 2 favorite cars from the 60s are the 1965 Impala Super Sport and the 1965 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight. Both as convertibles, painted candy-apple red. Unfortunately, if I get one today, I'd have to board it elsewhere, as I don't have a garage. Why 1965? It was a great year for music and Detroit had its best sales that year. You made a beautiful video.
Thank you !
My first car was 1962 impala. i also had a 1965 super sport.
Good choice of cars and music
Well Natkingcoles voice still gives me chills!!I could watch turtles race listening to him..and some nice old cars
some of the 1960 building designs are cool!
Wonderful Detroit iron. As much as I loved them all, some were a panel beater's nightmare!
Vic M.
Corvair was super dangerous to drive Ralph Nader got famous with a book about it he published titled "Unsafe at Any Speed" the Corvair had a tendency to flip over on turns if you went too fast into a turn the Corvair would roll over it happened to a lot of people.
Apparently, the 1962 version was a coffin on wheels. They slightly improved the handling in 1964 but still...😵💫😖☠️
Those cars, were really strong, the bumpers were really strong, not like the fake plastic garbage that will crack & break, compared to a little scratch.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼💪💪💪💪💪💪
WE will never see the beauty of the american auto like this again, sad!
So true!!!!!! i fing hate modern cars, they are ugly as hell.
my favorite car is the 1957 chevy bel air sports coupe

Larry Spivey How can you puck a favorite? So many cars....so few dollars! lol!
Jarred Cox My dream car is a 1955 Ford Thunderbird
Hector Vega T birds are beautiful! So are 57 Chevy's.
Paul Wood still I prefer T-birds any time
Oh no! Missing my car: 1959 Cadillac convertible (or any '59 model). :(
I think I saw a 58 one
in the 50's I was in my 20's and could hardly wait for the look of the new models every year ,I owned a used 53 and then a 56 Studebaker called "Power Hawk" color green-white ,which I traded later for a new 58 Chevrolet color brown-white
Best automobile era ever
A oui quelle classe ses danseurs de cette époque de vrais artistes merveilleux 👍👍👍👍🇨🇵
At second # 20 was a 59 Buick Invicta. The meanest looking car ever produced.
beautiful cars with beautiful musics
I was born in 1950 and from the beginning, I loved cars! My Aunt DIDi had a Rio Red 1958 Chevrolet Impala convertible which I adored! My dad said he was bringing home a new Chevy but alas, it was a DelRay with one option - a heater!
Was born in 1960 and feel the very same way.
To bad today no one can design a car that looks like anything but a jelly bean. Those designs were amazing.
anyone of these cars, to me, are to die for :(
cars back then had style !
The Early 1970's Cars.

True, modern cars and boring and plain.
What happened to our country from bright~ beautiful with colored cars to signify happiness and hope to the mood of today dark and gray
Yep. I hate modern cars so boring and no color.
