This video follows on from the one at Redbridge, heading one stop up the line that diverges from the South West Mainline, northwest to Romsey railway station. A small, 2-platform DfT Category E "Small staffed" train station, it was first built back in 1847 by the London and South Western Railway (L&SWR) on its line from Eastleigh to Salisbury. It soon became a junction when the Andover and Redbridge railway, also known as the Sprat and Winkle Line opened; this joined the earlier route just east of the station before diverging again at Kimbridge Junction, a short distance to the north, en route to Andover.

The subway connecting the platforms was opened in 1887. The waiting room on the Salisbury-bound platform has a collection of framed photographs from the station's earliest times through to the mid-20th-century. The nearby signal box has also been preserved and can be visited.

The Andover line fell victim to the Beeching Axe in September 1964, and the line to Eastleigh closed to passengers in May 1969. The line did remain open for freight and diversions, and eventually the line via Chandler's Ford regained passenger services after May 2003. The station was managed by Great Western Railway initially, before being transferred to South Western Railway in 2020.
