I do think it is important for people to realize that there is a big difference between a luxury brand and a luxury product. A lot of luxury brands have products that aren't worth 1/4 of what they charge. Thank you for the work you do.
That is the one sentence summary of this video - Thank you for that. These are luxury brands and this particular bag is NOT a luxury bag. Unfortunately, this is a very common situation in today's "Luxury" Leather Market
"The moment you accept where you are and what you have... then entirely you become satisfied... and it doesn't matter what you don't have so it becomes a positive experience". I re-played this part like 10 times. This is honestly resonating for me about life in general but most relevant to luxury bags, you saved me from wasting a lot of money as I was about to buy this exact bag for my birthday. Now I'm thinking about putting the money towards a vintage bag that's hand-made, not mass produced, and higher quality / more unique. Thank you!
When I first entered the workforce, I wanted to make a good impression, but I didn't want to incur more than I could afford. Finally, through the recommendation of my colleague *condup* , the bag I bought was in line with my professional image and did not bring any financial burden to me.
Every woman should have the right to make impulse purchases, but a smart woman will easily find that happiness without regrets. That day at *condup* , I found a bag that suited my temperament very well.
And one last thing. I get sooooo irritated when YT’ers and others say things like “don’t by a Neverfull because its so basic and everyone has one and half of them are fake “.I call bullshit. Who cares if its fake or real.Bought Gucci Marmont bag on *esluxy* , I am honestly very satisfied with this company. Maybe the best I ever bought a bag from.
@WarmSun_MGM agree! The price increases have been out of control! Have you seen that recently they have actually decreased prices on some of their items. Imagine realizing your prices are too high and no one’s buying. 🤦🏽♀️

I am a newbie in the world of luxury bag, and I’ve been eyeing a YSL bag as my first luxury investment. However, watching your video made me realize to look beyond the logo and see the real value of the bag. It’s an unbiased review, no sugar coating and not a marketing hype. Instead of paying hefty price for a brand, pay it instead for the craftsmanship and real luxury quality. Now I’ll dig deeper and watch your other videos to help me be a smarter consumer and purchase a bag worthy of my money.

Buying a bag is not an investment, the moment you take off the label it’s value significantly decreases and will continue to do so the more signs of wear you put on it. No guarantees you’ll even find a buyer for it when the time comes.
Luxury bags are not investments, unless you are to not using it ever. Regarding YSL I have a puffer bag lamb leather in black, I keep it clean and well conditioned, so far it lasted 4y no scratches, still in shape and the leather looks beautiful. My advice to anyone who wants to buy a luxury brand is be prepared to take good care of it or it will not last, never think of a bag as investment so buy something you love with material that fits the purpose ( durability vs beauty ) and consider buying pre loved.
I agree with you in describing the false feel of accomplishment when getting a luxury item. Once you purchase it and have it, you’re on to the next item so that fulfillment is short lived. I love your videos and am glad that you show us what the true meaning of luxury should be.

I like the idea of stitching the bag back together and giving it away MUCH better than destroying it. It’s not wasteful and can be useful to somebody, as well as draw more comments and subscribers.
I love how this video doesn’t shame the consumers and just gives them an informed look on what’s behind the glamour. If people want to buy a branded good just for the brand, more power to them. And if people want to buy well crafted good at fair prices, they now have the knowledge to do so!
That’s so awesome, that you are not destroying the bag. Every time I watch I feel sad about it but also happy that I have learned so much from your videos! Thank you for what you are doing by educating us what it takes to make a bag.
I love this guy. I never really questioned the quality of “luxury” bags because I always just assumed they would be great quality because of the price. It’s refreshing to see someone give an unbiased and insightful opinion on them.
I first noticed you on TikTok & you are the reason why I stopped being overly obsessed with luxury brand goods. I now look at the overall materials & quality of each item regardless of the brand! Thanks for doing what you do!
Yes, I agree most people wouldn’t pay 7-800 dollars for the same bag without the tag. Really appreciate how your video educate consumer on good quality leather goods!
Now I start to understand why "silent luxury" trend is catching on. In it, the true value speaks for itself, not because of any flashy logo. Thank you ☺️
I know people who own so many really luxury brands, but they live in their mom's house. I own a house, drive a Lexus, and I do buy stuff *condup* to put money in my pocket.
By comparing replicas with genuine items, you can learn how to identify the authenticity of a bag. I think *condup* also has artistic value. This change allowed me to devote more resources to a true art collection while maintaining my own style.
My mom always said beauty is not about price. The existence of *condup* makes me believe that true luxury is the expression of one's own style, not the price tag. Here, I found the best explanation of this sentence
I bought a replica of a Chanel brooch for $20 to compare materials etc. The real brooch cost $800 and was made of the exact same materials - brass, synthetic pearls, glass. The other one is a $40 one*preluxscom* Backpack Replica - also works for Compare - I can't find any difference and still use it for the gym.
This is so absolutely genuine! In a world where scams are acceptable happenings, what you do is just pure gold. And to articulate that law about chasing what we don't have, I have replayed that so many times! It's something countless of us do and do not realise it, or even accept it. Please never stop shining light on the reality of luxury products. It would be utopia where these brands would make product lines AFTER watching your content. Wish you the best always.
Mr. Leatherstein, you have just increased the value of that Loulou by adding your own final touch when re-sewing the bag! Your commentary is always appreciated! Much respect from Canada! ✌🏾
What’s very important is that no one buys this bag without the YSL Logo. I learnt so much from you about the quality of leather goods, thank you for that, and I love to see that you are talking about the value of design, which stands for its own without needing a logo.
As someone who's (more or less) passively observing and analysing what's going on in the fashion industry, I really enjoy your honest videos about the material aspect of leather goods, which (for me at least) is the only important thing that should make up a "luxury" product. But I find it absolutely incredible how many people don't care at all about the clothes or the bags they wear and even if they do, they use the price point as an indicator because many of us "unlearned" (or never learned in the first place) how to look for quality in clothing and accessories.
Thank you for being the rare one on UA-cam talking about truth and dark side of luxury fashion and consumerism! Your videos are a great eye openers for young women around the globe 🌎 who are obsessing over the fame and false imagine of owing luxury bags will improve social status. I really appreciate your efforts on making each video high quality and unique and finding them very inspiring in many levels. Keep up with the good works!
Discovering your UA-cam channel has been a game-changer in my approach to luxury bags. You dives deep into the essence of luxury, revealing that it’s not just about the brand name or the price tag. Through explaining it carefully, you showcase how some supposedly high-end bags fail to deliver the luxurious experience they promise. The insights you shared have made me reevaluate my purchasing habits, leading me to prioritize quality over flashy logos. This channel is a must-watch for anyone seeking to make informed and meaningful choices in the world of luxury fashion.
I want to say that although the bag is not worth $2900 it is beautiful. The look, texture, quilt lines, and hardware together make the bag look contemporary and chic. Even if one took the YSL logo out, it looks beautiful. If you are considering this bag, please buy it because you love it and see yourself with it 10+ years.
Years ago I would never have bought fake however recently I have done and when you realise and compare both "hight quality luxury" and "fake" like I have done, you tend to feel scammed as the product and materials are exact the same *suluxs*
I think Lou Lou in particular does have something that defines it as a luxury product. It is a very easy bag to use and its ergonomics provide the necessary comfort. I accept the opinion regarding the quality of the materials but time was also invested in its creation to turn it into a product that comforts your daily life. This is something that is important for me in particular. Thank you for the video!!!!
I was very frustrated when my husband disapproved my intention to buy this bag despite we went to the boutique twice 😅. He was very firm saying this bag does not scream luxury although i convinced him that the brand is. Many of my friends have it that made me wanted to join the band wagon. After listening to this video, you’ve enlightened me on how the luxury brands deceive their buyer to buy a basic bag that cost a fortune and i just realized the fact that many people own it because of the mass production that just simply means no more exclusivity that should belong to luxury brand! Thank you for your work and now my husband’s opinion is validated 😅
I give you credit for having the integrity to concede your husband’s point. Often our rational selves leave the building when it comes to things that we (humans in general) think signal our identity.
Your videos are so interesting, and I love to see your opinion on the different brands of bags. I'd love to win the YSL bag in the video; I think it's cute but no way would I pay the retail price for it.
Actually I have this bag and the ysl puffer…Love both of these bags and it is the only two luxury bags I have and so far both held up well and I really love them so…I guess it is ok for me though
I have many many bags … yes if you love them get them , but don’t if it’s going to give you any remorse later . I have the YSL camera bag and it’s lovely but it isn’t like the best bag ever ..even Chanel’s quality is low now .
I always get super excited when you start cutting up bags! I'm really impressed/surprised that you were able to inspect without completely taking it apart. It's kind of crazy that YSL is charging $2950 when you could probably find a similar (just as nice looking leather bag) in the more affordable $250-350 range. Removing that logo definitely places this bag in the second price category at best. With regards to behavioral psychology portion: I guess I'm fine accepting being "poor/middle class" forever because there's absolutely no point in chasing the "illusion" of being rich. I think spending time on experiences and being with family is infinitely more valuable than simple, superficial appearance. Thanks for keeping us leathertained and educated.
I appreciate your insights here. I couldn't agree more on the last part. No matter what can I afford, I am not interested in paying for "the piece of the dream" I love creating experiences with my loved ones and there is no limit to pay for those. It is all about what you appreciate in life. I understand and respect the one who chose differently. Goal of these videos are for people who may be thinking these bags are super special just because they are expensive. As all brands talk about their fanciness in marketing but nobody gives details about materials used...
@biologyfrg sometimes I shopped from a pre loved market, rather than to spend a full retail price to get an item. I can get an item without hurting so much on my budget. I also agree with you not to put so much emphasis on superficial appearances, relationships are priceless nothing can surpass precious memories.
@@tanner.leathersteinthank you for your review and emphasis that if the logo was removed will anyone buy the item on its retail value. I'm looking forward to seeing more of this format. More power! :)
As a maths teacher who loves handbags. I love that you combine maths and luxury bags together. Thank you for your insight into unpacking luxury brands and what their bags are worth.
The luxury market is treating their products like fast fashion. When a luxury bag is "out" in a year or two, why on earth would I want to pay a luxury price point? I always go for *suluxs* , their quality is great.
Love the quote, it ends the debate on whether luxury fashion purchases is worth it. My major issue is the fans keep complaining on forums about defects from their handbags while still pretending they are luxurious and artisan quality. In fact, there are way too many quality leather goods out there in Europe. Spain, Italy, UK , even San Marino!!!!!! Those local artisans are what I truly consider "luxury" as you said, high quality, unique and sophistacated. I am actually plainning to hunt for these bags all over Europe. It's gonna be a long journey, it would take me 4-5 years, really excited. Would also want to see some labels across Japan being reviewed by you. Thank you for not breaking down the whole bag!!! Although I would never buy such thing, I appreciate that !!!!
Awesome point! I still feel like bag buyers for the TJX companies must have the best job ever. Since they travel around the world for really good leather work. It will be my dream to travel to buy bags because a girl can only dream right?
I truly understand the behavioral and psychological impact of wanting luxury on an individual. At last part of the video, I resonate with what Tanner Leatherstein said that if you accept a negative experience then it becomes a positive experience - acceptance truly is the key.
I don’t think that most fashion victims who constantly purchase “ luxury labels” care so much about quality, they mostly care about status, and being seen wearing certain items. Do you remember when everyone was raving about that plastic/vinyl Hermes bag? Sorry, might be limited edition, but it is still a plastic bag worth more than 1k.
Thank you for breaking this down and revealing the actual quality. Pulling the veil off of self professed luxury items is greatly appreciated and a breath of fresh air!
I have always been into real material and though I like luxury brands. I tend to always check the little tag placed inside a piece of clothing whether it's made of 100% wool, cashmere, silk etc. And if they're not I tend to ignore it even if the luxury brand is selling a product at a bargain. That being said I never questioned the value of luxury brand bags since they're all made with real leather. Your channel has provided me with so much information about the craftsmanship, the different types of leather used and the different criteria by which we could judge the value of said luxury item and for that'll always be grateful!! I always discuss your videos with my friends and family. Glad I came across your channel ❤❤❤
Ever since I started watching your videos, it’s like a veil was removed from my eyes. I no longer desire the big brand bags because at the end of the day, it’s just nice leather stitched together so I can carry my things inside it 😂 that realisation set me free from the gimmicks and trappings of the “luxury” world so thank you ✨
I am glad to hear that. It means you weren't into the glamour of the logos. Perhaps you were under the impression that these bags are super special because they are expensive (like many people) but seeing the insider perspective on the quality and price points of the material, realigns your purchase decisions to what you value most. That's my only intention...
100% agree, if that logo wasn’t there, no one would spend that. Also the explanation about the marketing used to lure u, and the inevitable mass production to keep up with all the new sales is spot on! Great insite, thank you.
Okay, I’ve always scratched my head about the obsession around the kislux book totes and their practicality, but this one is adorable!! Congratulations
I got a LV bag 12 years ago and I still use it. Now I can sell it on a second hand market and get more back than it cost back then. It will not get thrown away in a dumpster. You also have to consider the amount of money these companies put on ads and pr. They are also big old companies that have history. So I get it, of course you can get the same quality and better for a lot less money, but you won’t get a piece of the fantasy dream that comes with the luxury brands. The design of many good quality (but not luxury brand) bags are so often just rustic looks, at least it use to be, haven’t looked at bags for 12 years…
It's been months since I bought my *rrcopys* tote and it still looks the same as when I bought it. I have to admit that they did a really good job in this regard. The craftsmanship and durability of these bags is truly impressive.
I never get tired of theses videos, as a craftsman myself I get the importance of the hand labor and the time and dedication that take to make one piece and sometimes people don't realize that value. it's crazy to me that people pays that price tag and don't know what is paying for.
Thank you for your appreciation! It's wonderful to hear from a fellow craftsman who understands the dedication and effort that goes into each piece. Your insight really highlights the true value of handcrafted items. Thanks for watching and supporting the craft!
Me remembering nearly all the bags from the jag collection *topluxs* other apartment on the dimond tray.. I think I watched that video like 40 times. Purse collection goals.
I really love your taste and style always so chic. My faves would be the kislux leather backpack and the Swarovski pave diamond ring so gorg. Thank you for your recommendations.
I have the LYXBAG , Bastia, and Kelly pockets like you, and I agree that the buttons on the Kelly pockets are too prominent. I like the Bastia and Calvi for being relatively flat and not "cramped"!
I like how you put the last part of the video where you highlighted chasing the dream of luxury. accepting what you are and what you have, then it really doesn’t matter what you don’t have.
I'm a newer subscriber and have enjoyed very much your taking bags apart and investigating, but I also like what you did here and are not destroying the bag sharing it. I love bags that are obviously leather in look and feel, slouchy soft goodness. I am not a fan of hard plastic-y coatings and rigid designs you see so much now adays. I have a lot of vintage "Glove tanned" handbags and those will always be my affordable luxury bags. Thank you!
You are absolutely correct about the urge of wanting a bag and then after purchasing the bag the desperate feeling goes away. I have never heard anyone explain it that way. You are very smart and I enjoyed watching and learning from you. I couldn’t wait to watch more of your videos.
You are so right! I learned a lot from your videos. While I have a few designer bags, I am currently focusing on the quality of the leather and the finishes of the bag. Thank you for educating us.
Yes the color of the kislux is beautiful and it is a great decision, maybe one day they will add feet and straps. It would be nice to have a bigger bag during the colder months when we have to store gloves, beanies, scarves, etc…
Enjoy your videos as always. I’ve always preferred the smaller, quality brands over big brands - because they manufacture in small numbers they can afford to spend more time and effort with construction. I bought my first designer bag (a Mulberry) about 15 years ago before it became very well known. The bag has stood the test of time and back then it was only about £400, about a quarter of what it is now.
YSL is a brand I´ve always dream about, I really like de designs, but you are completely right about de logo... and much I would pay without it. Thank you for the video!
I was anticipating the entire bag being pulled apart from the seams, and was a bit disappointed it wasnt, but then realizing ur gifting it away it makes sense now why u didnt. love watching ur videos and seeing ur take on these “luxury” bags 👍
I still love my LV reverse monogram HIDUPZ clutch! It's versatile, fits a variety of items, and is definitely a workhorse! I think seeing it everywhere (like the LV speedy) is proof that it's
although I love when you test the quality of the leather by stripping and burning it, to use your craftmanship to put the bag back together and give it away is a great idea and still so educational to see the inside of the bag!
Absolutely love this, As a leather lover I knew this already but definitely enjoyed the way you put everything into detail so people understand what we are being offered in the stores... For the People who are blinded by the luxury Logo & more they will by it blindly. Those who love a good quality item that is not overpriced they will find the items elsewhere & probably even better quality when they do their research .....Thanks for sharing this. Absolutely love you channel...Lots of love from my side of the planet.🥰💞
I’m glad you restitched the bag! Hope to see more videos where you only take apart vintage bags, and maybe even make a new item out of it! 😊 thanks for the informative videos!
I’ve really been enjoying your videos and now you are doing the one thing that I felt would make them even better. You’re using your skills to reassemble the bag, making it look brand new. I love this idea! I’d love to see more of your skills being showcased. Maybe even redoing or redesigning a leather good that you found lacking and improve upon it. Thanks for the great content!
I have that bag and bought it from a reseller in excellent condition for $1000 a few years ago. I have only carried it a couple of times and loved it but I felt like it didn’t go with my casual style. Last month I’ve tried to sell it to Rebag and they didn’t wanted and it’s still in excellent condition.
thank you so much! I learn something new everytime I watch your videos and I'm starting to appreciate good quality leather bags that may not have the flashy logo. I"m starting to ask myself more of the "whys" before purchasing any luxury bags now.

En el momento en que vi el bolso *preluxscom* supe que tenía que tenerlo.
It pains me whenever you dissect a beautiful purse but your honest insight makes me look beyond the luxury logos. Thank you!
I feel painful for his wife 🤣
This is so absolutely genuine! In a world where scams are acceptable happenings, what you do is just pure gold. And to articulate that law about chasing what we don't have, I have replayed that so many times! It's something countless of us do and do not realise it, or even accept it. Please never stop shining light on the reality of luxury products. It would be utopia where these brands would make product lines AFTER watching your content. Wish you the best always.
Your honesty in explaining the actual quality of lack thereof for these expensive bags is much appreciated. I am learning so much, thank you.
I’ve bought my wife a couple bags thanks to your videos. I’m glad there’s someone making content on leather bags
Happy to hear that you find my vids helpful. I will be making them for the rest of my life. I am hooked now thanks to you all :)
@@tanner.leatherstein love the videos too. 😊
@@tanner.leatherstein is the bag giveaway still open? I would love to have one😮
Tanner it is very generous of you to share this bag with one lucky winner. Good luck to everyone!
Years ago I would never have bought fake however recently I have done and when you realise and compare both "hight quality luxury" and "fake" like I have done, you tend to feel scammed as the product and materials are exact the same *suluxs*
@@GailHall-qf9wz hmm i should consider buying fakes now.
Thank you for the video!!!!
dude.. its a regular quailted bag. there is one for every price point you can imagine..

Very Very True
@@juliehelenegwell said❤
I have many many bags … yes if
you love them get them , but don’t if it’s going to give you any remorse later .
The differential between luxury brand and luxury product is something so many of us don’t take the time to truly consider.
It is a shame that the stereotype (and misconception) of luxury leather goods comes from the logo. And not the craftsmanship of the artist.
@@monicamartey Of cuz you can do it! with your passion. I hope you would soon take on a great jounery exploring Europe!

Now anytime I go to the mall and pass the fashion house and luxury brands I tell whomever I am with all about your videos.
I appreciate you spreading the word! love it
You have single handedly changed my entire outlook on luxury leather goods 👌🏼
I really appreciate how you pull back the curtain on quality vs price!
Loved everything you’ve showed here! I was really surprised about the amzwatch crossbody. Love it!
That's the first thing I was thinking...hey why isn't he taking apart this bag like usual?! Now I know. Very nice.
Spot on about the so called “thrill of the chase” actually being more of an endless trap. Great video as always!
I truly understand the behavioral and psychological impact of wanting luxury on an individual. At last part of the video, I resonate with what Tanner Leatherstein said that if you accept a negative experience then it becomes a positive experience - acceptance truly is the key.
kay, I’ve always scratched my head about the obsession around the kislux book totes and their practicality, but this one is adorable!! Congratulations
Your video reviews stop me from purchasing the bags. Thank you.
Thank you for reminding me that not everything that looks luxury is actually luxury
Thank you for not completely taking apart the bag😩
@Dlovesyou1 😂 I felt the same way. My heart rips a bit when he takes it apart
😂😂😂😂
Maybe the wife wanted to keep this one after it being re-fixed 😊 - cant blame her 😊
@@majbrittkjaer6134 😂😂 me either.💐

In a dream world, luxury brands would start selling luxury products after watching videos like yours
😂
Hopefully :)
But in reality, they don’t have to because people will still buy
I really appreciate how non judgemental your comments are when discussing luxury brands and consumerism ❤
When the blog with tons of videos of trashing purses becomes a psychological and deep content ❤
Such GREAT comparisons! Allllll soooo lovely! Especially the LYXBAG tote. Their styles are so chic, sleek, elegant and understated!
100% agree, if that logo wasn’t there, no one would spend that. Also the explanation about the marketing used to lure u, and the inevitable mass production to keep up with all the new sales is spot on! Great insite, thank you.
Love that the bag was safely dissected and pieced back for the giveaway!
Your videos are my absolute fave! Thanks for your generosity, I would love to win this bag :)
The design of many good quality (but not luxury brand) bags are so often just rustic looks, at least it use to be, haven’t looked at bags for 12 years…
It doesn't matter where they are made. It depends on artisans and quality inspection. My family and I have bought *suluxy*
You are the sucker snob they rely on , who needs to feel superior
My mom bought one kislux and she loves it. It had been there for over 10 years when she went out with it.
HEY *xbagy* I have been watching you for years and im so proud of where you have made it! I love you so much! Also thanks for making my day

Thank you so much! I'm thrilled to hear that you find them fascinating and informative. Your support means a lot!
Thank you for not shaming those of us that do like to purchase luxury brands. I appreciate these deep dive videos on luxury shopping psychology.
The shame comes for free ,, we just feel it 😅😂
I got a lvguci ,Korean made, Jimmy Choo. It is 20 years old and still looks great.
I appreciate your critiques about the luxury brand bags. It’s informative and helps diminish my FOMO as well as being content with what I have.
Amazing! You truly open my eyes from the matrix of the so called luxury designer bag world. Keep up the good work. You’re doing an amazing job!
Thank you!
The psychology of shopping in 7 minutes and 12 seconds. Nicely done on all counts! 👍🏾
Merci beaucoup de vos commentaires logiques et votre expertise… j adore
Yes the color of the kislux is beautiful and it is a great decision, maybe one day they will add feet and straps. It would be nice to have a bigger bag during the colder months when we have to store gloves, beanies, scarves, etc…
he variety of textures in the bbkbags tpack is impressive. From smooth leather to textured suede, there's something for everyone.
The variety of textures in the kislux pack is impressive. From smooth leather to textured suede, there's something for everyone.
Nice to hear a professional opinion of what’s really behind the logo! Thanks! 👏🏼 beautiful bag but tough price point!
I wanted the loulou for such a long time, but this video has definetly made me see it differently! Great videos ❤
Thanks for all the reviews that you do. It has changed my view on if a bag is really worth its price tag or not or if the consumer is getting fooled.
Thank you for always going into detail and the psychology behind these luxury brands and how they capture the attention of consumers and unmasking how the bags are made. Keep up the great content.
I also wanted to own a YSL bag! Now that you explained all the details, I don’t need to waste so much money on the logo! Thanks!

Your channel really opened my eyes and made me more cautious of what I am buying. Now I look for quality pieces rather than a Logo.
