Thanks for the lesson. I only have the two volumes of The Sandman Omnibus when it comes to such large books, and I had no idea whether their binding was good or bad as I didn't know what it's supposed to be like. The only suggestion I have for you next time you do such a UA-cam is to show and compare other publishers like Marvel and co.
DC needs to defiantly step it up! kinda sad when DC been around much longer than Marvel, and Marvel is killing them in the omnibi binding gutterloss and quality categories, might i add all stuff we pay top money for!
I'm way late watching this but I appreciate you taking the time to make this video & the other one about how to stretch the spines. I've started collecting hardcovers and I didn't know about these issues. Thanks for the heads up.
Thanks for making this video. As a buyer of mostly hardcover formats myself, this really helps me identify binding problems. Keep up the great videos and happy collecting.
Agree 100%. I love my Marvel omnibus and masterworks sewn bindings. DC needs to get their act together. I love their Archives and their smaller hardcovers, but I purposely avoid their omnibus collections.
Great analysis, but there's a very important part missing, the Sleeper and Golden Age Superman Omnibus. Those books are, so far, the only two that DC printed in Canada. And they have an excellent binding. Almost as good as a Marvel book. Considering both books were approximately 750, I had high hopes DC would print the Planetary Omnibus in Canada, but they ended up printing it at Donnelly USA. It's a real shame they haven't printed more books over there. On the other hand, great UA-cam channel man!
Ryley, your video is very helpful. Now I know how to spend my money! I was wondering about the binding of that JSA Omnibus. Do you happen to know if the Justice League Omnibus is any better? Thanks man you're a great consumer advocate!
The same thing happened to my spider man vs venom omnibus the spine creased up my question is will it mess it up am actually super pist cus the book literally just went out of print and I want to read it.
The gutter loss isn't what's annoying abut those spines. What's annoying is that your video is from 2014, this is halfway through 2020, and my Hellblazer Omni is similar with the cardboard already detaching and all Ive done is stretch the spine before reading which I haven't even started. Who do we complain to.
Chris Kaufman you’d think DC May have learned a thing or two over the years but alas here we are. The problem with DC is that honestly they do not care nor do they really know what they’re doing. They’re starting to notice that people have lost faith in their collected editions department, but their solution? Fat paperback compendiums for a series like Starman, which has a cancelled Omnibus (real. Not like the current standard sized ones). It’s insulting.
I know this video is a little old but would you mind doing a review of Geoff Jhons Teen Titans omnibus? I'm saving up to get it but don't want to wast $80 on a book thay isn't good.
@@omnibuscollector They really need to reprint this, I can only find a used copy that's under 200 bucks and I can't justify paying more than cover price.
Hey again, I have an OT question: I've heard that some material or pages (some final pages or anything like that ?) are missing from The invisibles Omnibus. Is it true ?
+gonen32 Having read the original tpbs, and later buying the Invisibles Omnibus, I can confirm with certainty, that there are no missing material or pages.
***** Maybe, you can review both of them, after that? I think your reviews are great, they're very informative and fun to watch! I hope they'll be in 720p/1080p in the future. You're collection is great, by the way!
he`s definitely concerned about the glue coming undone...who wouldn't be at 150 a pop

i watched so many omnibus reviews and basically NOONE ever adresses that. gj man ty alot

Yh their hardcovers, absolutes and TPB are quite good but their omnibuses are really annoying to read.
Just found your channel and I love it. Thanks so much for all the info you give us. Please keep it up knowing that it is appreciated. Thanks.

Yeah, my Sleeper omnibus is quite well done. But other DC omnibii have been so hit or miss. Sigh.
Thanks for doing this video Riley, really put the DC binding in prespective for me.
Probably would be a great idea to showcase some good marvel bindings for easy comparison.
Thanks for the info anyway!
At 1:40, did he say " Fuckman " by Geoff Johns.
damn this was 8 years ago,and we still get dc books with this binding
What do you think, after almost 4 years, did these problem solve or get better anyhow?
As Hardcover Reviews said, these DC omnis are like bear traps!
Ryley, your video is very helpful. Now I know how to spend my money! I was wondering about the binding of that JSA Omnibus. Do you happen to know if the Justice League Omnibus is any better? Thanks man you're a great consumer advocate!
Thank you for this, Ryley!
Remember there is a proper way to open your omnibis books. Sure it's glued but I wouldn't worry THAT much unless your rough with it.
That's why I get my favorite DC stories or run in absolute editions and marvel in omnibus
This guy reminds me A LOT of Leonard from BBT lol ! Sounds like him too !
Hey! You like John Byrne's Superman run too!
Did you store the omnis vertically? If so did the spine change after some years?
Bro is the binding in the golden age batman and superman omni is good?
At 8:00, is that something that should be fixed or is that a pretty normal thing that happens with the ribbon?
Normal thing
My ribbon is undone too, after first opening it brand new
The same thing happened to my spider man vs venom omnibus the spine creased up my question is will it mess it up am actually super pist cus the book literally just went out of print and I want to read it.

The Omnibus Collector thanks for the reply. As a long time comics collector, but new to Omnis, I need faith because the Omnis I want, are mostly DC...
man I want that teen titans omnibus
I want the Teen Titans Omnibus , nice.
Do you have to break in a DC Omnibus like you do with a Marvel one? Or can you just start reading it?
I know this video is a little old but would you mind doing a review of Geoff Jhons Teen Titans omnibus? I'm saving up to get it but don't want to wast $80 on a book thay isn't good.
It's not unreadable but it sure is annoying.
So it's 2021, any update how that Teen Titans binding has been?
Perfect. And after six moves

Do you actually have the second volume of Sandman, because the binding of that volume was pretty bad! The first one is great though.

Would it still be worth it to buy the USA omni
Does anyone know where i should send my books to get custom binding done on some of my books
Please review the Ultimate Spider-Man Omnibus
New X-Men seems to be a huge book. Does it have gutter loss?
It's Marvel so it'll probably be fine.
I imagine more of the newer omnibis books have more of a stitched binding than glued.
dude got a sandman omni 1 recently binding was awful no curve or anything I sent it back for a replacement
I just did the same but with sandman omnibus vol 2
paperback rules
Novo no canal. muito bom seu canal,vc está de parabéns.
Jsa not USA
The way you treat the books is just a shame.
Books are meant to be read, not handled like glass....who cares
