I love all the choices you made along the way and it turned out fabulous! You saved it from going to a landfill... not many would go to all that trouble.
I love this fabric more for the chairs than I did as curtains! You did a wonderful job! I had some old chairs many many years ago that I wanted to recover, I ended up giving them away because I got frustrated with all the staples just from removing the fabric. I WISH I had done what you did!❤
Ahhhh 🫣 I about died when the cat started clawing at your newly recovered chair! Hahaha. Looks like they are trouble 😆😉 I love this striped fabric Sophia. The chairs look great. 👏🏻☺️ And good idea leaving the backs that are still good. I agree they look like they match well.
Wonderful job! I have never upholstered but used to watch my Momma. One thing I do remember is that she would put a few starter staples at the top, bottom, left and right. That helped her pull fabric tight while keeping it from distorting the pattern. Then would just fill in between the starter staples
You did a wonderful job with this project. Love how the chair looks with this fabric. Seems to match the overall style and age of the chair. Well done!
Love how affectionate your kitties are! Our new kittens ( now 1 year old we adopted them at 2 months old) are affectionate but not as much I think because they cuddled with my sons cat a lot when they were little, he acted as a sudo mom/dad cat when they were little. They really bonded with him.
You're doing a great job; Removing the chair seat is different than the cushion. Well My Mom and Brother Etienne have done chair restoration to a few peaces like that. It's the style chair; Following what what done is how the professionals do it.
Whoever made the chair would have some advice, but they didn’t leave any for you. I fully believe they would be thrilled seeing what you did, how you did it and when you did it ❤❤❤ I approve all your choices ❤❤❤. Very inspiring
You did a fabulous job on the chair! It is beautiful! As my grandmother always said “if someone says something ugly or points out the flaws, they are not your friend”! She was looking at my first quilt when I started pointing out where I messed up. Love your fabric and the chair regained its elegance!
Sophia, you did a very good job of upholstering your chair. My husband and I did all of our dining room chairs a few years ago. They turned out so good! We were both amazed that we could do it ourselves. I like the pattern and color of your fabric. If you don't have enough to do all the chairs you could possibly do a solid green to match the green in these captain chairs. Just a thought. Hobby Lobby always has their upholstery fabric 40% off.
@@mygreatchallenge They might surprise you. We adopted 2 bonded sisters at 11 months. I thought for sure the tree would be a goner but they just lay underneath it. Smudge does like to take a few ornaments from the bottom branches though. LOL They're so cute. I'm so happy you got them.
Superb result, Sophia. I enjoy watching you restore furniture and I watch all of your videos. It started with fly lady cleaning routines and I’ve stuck around for everything else. Many thanks
the best way is when a plain fabric for the cording, it's cut on a bias. Those are upholstery nails. Some are plain and some are fancy. You use a small hammer to put those nails in. You are doing a great job. I like how you're reusing the fabric from the draperies. Like I've been saying you're doing a fantastic job. I love your color choices. You got this. When Applying gimp if you're using fabric glue then you can use quilt pins to help with positioning and holding the gimp in place.
maybe staple like a clock, 6 and 12 then 3 and 9 then 2 7, sort of the way you put lug nuts on when you change a tire, dont staple clockwise or counter, do a star pattern. beautiful result anyway, sometimes we win, you won!
Beautiful ❤. I thought you put upholstery and or material in the basement in one of the cubby’s. Not under stairs but on a shelf beside your Etsy shop ?
If my DIY knowledge from TV shows is serving me well, the tiny nails with small heads you referred to are called finishing nails. They're usually used at the completion of a project and are designed to be hidden away with minimal effort.
The chair looks wonderful!!!!! Can't wait until you do the other one and show us all of the chairs finished around the table. And the different color for the "gimp" looks richer and more elegant. Great job!
Well...your chair turned out glorious. I like the cord better... the color is more matching the fabric. I think you did a fabulous job..I'd give you an A+.🎉❤🎉
Great Job Sofia. You need to use such strong muscles to pull the fabric taut, your arms and hands must have been tired. You mentioned your back was aching too. Perhaps if you out the chair up on a work table that would help. The chairs are beautiful 👏👏🤗
The chair looks amazing! You did a great job, as always! :) I had commented on Part 1 about removing the bottom and I stand corrected. I really enjoy your content and look forward to seeing the completed second chair.
Good choice using the white stripe on arms. Also changing the trim color. For the first time it was excellent job. I've done chairs before & it was a group of ladies from church doing some chairs so I learned as I went but still remember because I did a couple of my own since then.
The chair looks great with those chairs they need to be taken to an upholster who knows how to take them apart, but who has the money for that. You did a great job saving yourself lots of money.
Your chair is stunning! I love it. You have inspired me to do my own. I have wanted to hand embroidery a monogram on the front of our Victorian chairs. Can’t wait to start. Thank you for all you do for us.
You did amazing! Looks great! I see you have some perfectionism going on...that can be a good thing and/or a bad thing. The way you do things reminds me of myself....able to let go of that perfectionism at a certain point in order to "carry on" and not beat yourself up over the small imperfections. I really like your videos and the projects you do. I find them grounding for me! Thanks❤
Well done your chair looks like new not surprisingly as your very talented and ready to give everything a go thanks for sharing your videos regards from Scotland Uk 👍🏴🎉💐👏👏
The chair look great for a first one. Usually, when you want a tight fabric you put staples making a cross (the first in one side, the second in the opposite side and the next two, perpendicular to the direction of the first ones) then repeat the patron rotating the position. I don't know if it makes sense.
Sophia, bias trim MUST be cut on the bias. In this case, the pattern on the trim would have to be diagonal and not follow a stripe. Bias trim allows for rounding curves which doesn't work well if trim is cut on the straight grain of the fabric. 😊
Sophia, I think the finished chair looks amazing. You did a wonderful job on a very difficult chair frame for a first time re-upholstery project. You really are amazingly talented and such an inspiration. I completely understand why you chose not to do the back of the chair, given that it shows the original material and history of the piece of furniture itself, plus it would have been very difficult to do. However, I don’t really think the silk and the stripped fabric go together that well, so personally I think I would have covered the back so it all matches.
Very good quality chairs, meant to last! Would it be possible to insert a button tuft on back somehow..i think that would be beautiful. Overall fantastic work ❤
You are doing a great job. The more you do it,the more you learn. I know your hands must be killing you with that staple gun. How about seeing if a company will send you an air gun and compresser . I don't know how you go about getting them. I got one, and wow, it is wonderful.
Right off the bat I’m disappointed. What you are describing with the first chair is exactly what I have. They are extremely uncomfortable and were recovered years ago when my mil had them. The person who recovered them not only did a poor job, but the fabric leaves quite alot to be desired. I want to take them down to the frame and turn them into the same type of seat on the second chair you are showing. Is that possible and how do I go about it? Thank you.
The back of the chairs is too pretty to cover up. Nice job!
I love all the choices you made along the way and it turned out fabulous! You saved it from going to a landfill... not many would go to all that trouble.
That chair looks awesome. You did an amazing job. You talented woman you!
Beautiful job, love the chairs. Hope the cats leave them alone. Kittens so cute!

Can always keep your eye out at thrift stores or garage sales for a good deal to try things out ☺️👍🏻
A curb find, time and ingenuity equals a beautiful project! Well done Sophia❤

I love this striped fabric Sophia. The chairs look great. 👏🏻☺️ And good idea leaving the backs that are still good. I agree they look like they match well.

That's crazy, a real sub

I love the fact that you used the draperies. The chair looks fantastic with your dining room decor. Well done Sophia!👍

Came out great! I love seeing the kittens. It's like having toddlers back in the house.
You re not kidding. I fear for my Christmas trees

Great job!
When you did the first cut into the old upholstery, I felt like when I saw a surgeon, you're committed! So worth it! 🎉🎉
Very nice!

This technique wouldn’t work with stripes, it would cause a wavy uneven pattern (one of my mistakes.)
You did a fantastic job Sophia! Beautiful fabric too. Love your fur babies.
A job well done! You did a fantastic job! You should be proud of yourself!
Great job Sophia. Love that fabric
The kitten is adorable❤
Beautiful ❤. I thought you put upholstery and or material in the basement in one of the cubby’s. Not under stairs but on a shelf beside your Etsy shop ?

Love the chairs, beautiful work. Can wait to see the other one ready.
Good job Sofia! The chair looks beautiful with the new fabric 👍🏼👍🏼

Oh, the chair looks beautiful! You did an awesome job!
Hi Sophia, great job as usual! I agree with you on the white strip too looks better with the wood color of the chair. Enjoy!❤😊❤
I love the back of the chairs and it looks fine with the seat material.

I think you did an awesome job!!!
White looks better but green is more practical
The chair looks great. You did a good job. If you have an air compressor, they make a staple gun also. It would make your job easier.
Those arms are just awful hated doing those! You were more graceful than I was! You deserve all the credit Sophia! Lol. 😂
😅severance found a new scratching post 😂
Beautiful job great work you are really blessed in getting things done blessings from heike in

You would have to have a frame built for it. I am not sure it s worth the expense. Why not just get the chairs you want.
