Love both Widowmaker albums and saw him on the tour for Stand By For Pain (with Cyclone Temple opening). I have Desperado on Cd and it's a lost gem. Really good.
Wow! Widowmaker did not come anywhere near where I live... lucky you got to see them live! Glad to know some peeps have the Desperado album and realise how good it is!
The Desperado album is on my "to get" list. I have the Widowmaker albums and the song "All things must change" from the second album is an absolutely brilliant tune. I love the heaviness though.
@@offthecharts2272 I didn't buy it yet, but spent the day listening to Widowmaker and both Desperado albums ("Bloodied, but Unbowed" & "Ace"). First of all, some tracks appear on both Desperado albums and some tracks even appear on Desperado albums and Widowmaker albums. Anyway, that aside, here's my take for what it's worth: 1. Widowmaker - Blood & Bullets (1992) - This is a crackin' album and probably my favourite of the 4 I listened to today. Yes it's a bit heavier than Twisted Sister, but not very much at all. The songs are decent and catchy. I'll be honest I hadn't listened to any of these albums in a very long time and this was a really pleasant surprise to re-listen to. 2. Widowmaker - Stand By For Pain (1994) - I can sort of see what you meant by unnecessary heaviness here on this one. But that isn't an issue for me, what IS an issue for me are the lack of memorable songs. Aside from the title track and "All things must change" nothing really jumps out at me. Man I absolutely love that song "All things must change". 3. Desperado - Bloodied, But Unbowed (1996) - Decent album this, some great tunes and I see what you mean about the country like influence here and there. Yeah I'll be getting a copy at some stage. 4. Desperado - Ace (2006) - There's a certain amount of overlap on these two Desperado albums and I haven't heard enough of them to know if the tracks are identical or re-recorded. It's also a decent album. Having said that, Blood & Bullets is my favourite of the four. Now having said ALL of that..... I don't have all of Dee's solo albums yet, but if they are all like Leave A Scar then they win hands down! Leave A Scar is a phenomenal album.
I'm so glad you've covered this album. A lost classic. Everyone needs to hear it. Tormé is incredible on this album. Dee, too, and Clive Burr. Spread the word!
Thank you for stopping by! Yes, everyone needs to hear it! Too bad it got lost (at the time) but happy someone finally released it! This channel is often about trying to remember forgotten bands, or even unpolular ones the public should know about! Thanks for watching and commenting!
@offthecharts2272 love the channel and what you're doing and you've made me look into so forgotten bands and albums over the last 12 months. I agree with you, it's Dees finest work and Tormé too.
@@hobbsacupuncture1921 Wow! Thank you for the nice comments! It's comments like these that encourage me to continue! There will be more "forgotten" bands coming soon... :)
I remember seeing short article about upcoming Desperado album in local rock magazine back in the day, then never heard anything about them. Gotta check this out, I usually like music he's involved in. He was great in Wacken 2015 Rock meets Classic, joking with audience and giving great performance.
I paused your video halfway through and went to listen to the album on UA-cam, since I've never heard of it. I like that it's kind of a concept album with the western story. My favorite song is, "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter." The other 3 strongest tracks to me are, "See You at Sunrise," "There's No Angels Here," and especially "Emaheeval." As for Widowmaker, I only have the song, "Standby for Pain," not the album, but like that one song.🤠
Only recently have i been re-listening to some Twisted Sister. I really like some of the deeper tracks on " Stay Hungry ". I'll see what i can find of his solo stuff to listen to. Yes I remember at the time thinking it weird this band just died without a fuss. For a time they were M.T.V favourites.
Oh fer sure Stay Hungry is awesome! And yes, the deep tracks on that album are great! Not a single song I hate on that album... i just cant do We're not Gonna Take it anymore... LOL :) (they only have 5 studio albums and usually are quite easy to find - here anyway)... :)
Yeah, that was the point of making this episode... to make ppl aware that Desperado does exist and finally saw the light of day... I like the first Widowmaker...
@offthecharts2272 I like it more than Dee's recent solo albums though, his last couple have felt like generic metal to me. This at least has Dee's personality!
@offthecharts2272 your not missing much... they're much heavier, seemingly just for the sake of being heavy. I don't think Dee is even writing the material so it comes across generic
All of Snider's albums should be lost - preferably in the Bermuda Triangle. He used to be cool, but now he's a loser. The music on the albums he "sings" on is awesome. They diminish in quality when he spews over that music.
@@offthecharts2272 It's my opinion that he spews on pretty much ALL of the albums he's been a part of. His voice ain't what you'd call overly melodic.😀
