    Hi all welcome back to another video Dereck Reacts back at it again! This time around we take a look at a first time reaction to Brian Ferry and his song "Slave to Love." This 1985 song has interesting experimental sounds, more notably the drums/percussions. Not a bad song all together but also not a very memorable one as well. See my first time reaction now!

    You need to react to "More than this" By Roxy Music. Lead singer is Bryan Ferry and was released in their last album "Avalon" then Bryan Ferry went solo.

    It's a summer love song. If you were deep in love, looking at a beautiful sunset and listening to this then you will get it. It's not a dance pop song - it's romantic.

    It's an iconic song for me and this era of Roxy Music / B. Ferry so I don't see anything off with it but maybe it's because I grew up listening to him and his music so I am too used to it to see what could not have aged well with it.

  • @solopaola
    @solopaola Місяць тому +5

    I appreciate it when you don't like a song and say so - unlike other reviewers who are always fawning over anything, just to get more Patreon subscriptions... 🙄
    This was a huge hit all over Europe. It's the opposite of experimental: Bryan Ferry had been around for ages as frontman of Roxy Music, who started as really weird and innovative glam rockers, then mellowed out during the years.
    The album is super simple for Ferry's standards, but it made him a global star. Sellout? Probably. But I think the song is smooth as silk, and an absolute peak of mid-Eighties sound and production.

    I love samba, and this is rock soulfully samba like Santana did. It was a big hit at the time, with the best musicians and the best 80s director for the clip; what else?
    Nobody's perfect, you're not, but this song, yes! 😋…I'm kidding, of course. All tastes are in the nature. If it weren't, life would be so linear… 😊

    Bryan Ferry is an icon, this track was released about 3 years after his highly influential band Roxy Music disbanded.
    the sound and style of This track was really an extension of Roxys final album Avalon ( which is a classic ).
    He had a solo career thought his years with the band stretching back a decade before this. The song has endured for 4 decades now and has appeared in several soundtracks so I'm not sure where you are coming from it is a bona fide 80s classic but to each their own.

    Ɓy itself, I would have reacted to this song much the same as you. But after doing a deep dive into Bryan Ferry's music with the incredibly innovative Roxy Music & following his creative path since, I just love this. He constantly experiments with the production of new music he writes. His music has a subtle seductive power - just delicious ❤🔥❤

    Written by Bryan Ferry. Keith Scott on the guitar 🎸 solo. He is in the band of Bryan Adams.
    Roxy Music reunited in 2022 to celebrate 🍾 50 years 🎂. RM influenced Adam Ant, Culture Club and other New Wave musicians. RM and Chic heavily influenced Duran Duran.

I like you being honest and true to your musical tastes. I love Bryan Ferry, a mix of class and killing instrumentations but it doesn’t bother me that you don’t like. 😊 Not everybody could like everything, this is just normal … 😅
