Great job in your review. You were well prepared about the product, it was obvious you had thought out your presentation format and sequence before you actually started filming, and your pacing was excellent. Nicely done, and thanks.
Great review. Thanks for detailing this pack for us. Two tips for your next youtube posting: 1. clean your camera lens. There was a smudge over the center of your lense. 2. position your object so that it is not in the shadow of your camera. Hope I don't sound picky but attention to those small detals would have made your presentation that much better. Thanks again.
Thanks for the quick but informative review. The drain-holes are a deal-breaker for me! Sure it can let water out, but it also lets water in! I'd rather have my bag be waterproof!
2 things, 1: I have used my BFM 500 as a carry on several times, it works fine (well, it is the greatest carry on I have ever used actually). I just remove the frame because I don't know how the TSA would react to seeing a large piece of metal in my carry on. And 2: my camelbak BFM 500 lacks the small fleece lined pocket and the fleece lining in the NVG pocket. I feel thoroughly gipped (jipped? Giped? Jiped?). I ordered mine right after the 500 came out so maybe that is a later addition.
@yanggarbo1989 Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. And thank you so much for serving. Best wished to you and your boys in coming home safe!
the "fold" is actually in the wall that's between the water bladder compartment and the main compartment. I use the bladder compartment for my laptop, and to get it in/out, I had to remove the hard plate, which also allows deformation of the wall.
fyi, I bought a black one a year ago in Kunsan at the BX, $150!!! I too noticed no fleece lining and no molle on side pockets. I contacted CamelBak to see if it was counterfeit, they said no, this was the new design to cut down weight (?). Anyway, I bought it and haven't looked back. However the insulation in the very back panel has a "fold" that's permanently there, and makes the pack fold in half when I set it down if no major volume inside.
Hi, got the earlyer modell of this bag and its not a bad bag, you only have to be carefull to not load heavy stuff on the outside around like in the nightvision pocket, it will be too back heavy, putt the heavy stuff in the middle and into the your back. How much have you loaded it with and still comfy to wear running/jogging? ho
thanks for the review. i used this in AFGHN and it worked great! i hate ACU Assualt because it doesn't have dedicated hydration bladder pocket. i am in Ranger Battalion so we got this and i am glad. the ACU Assault is one mistake for US ARMY procurment unit, Assault is piece of crap. Cambel Motherlode or BFM is much better for Combat op in Desert environment
Nice review, thanks! I'm assuming I can use this as a 3 day (72 hour pack) cause it looks big enough. Any retailers or online stores you'd recommend? I don't want some cheap knockoff. I tried CamelBak website but none of their listed retailers sell the military or government issue packs, only the civie packs. Thanks!!
Anyone know where to get this specific one. Because I as well see the pack w/o the Molle on the side pockets too. The motherlode doesnt have it on the side on the camelbak website.
Can you be absolutely sure that this holds 51.48L + 3L? The camelbak website says that its 46L+ and thats a bigbig difference for me. (It's just that im required (highly recommended) to carry a 65L pack and as i know i pack light im guessing 55L would be fine)
you dont see it on the camelbak website because this is a combat-worn piece of equipment, custom made for most likely USMC because it looks like DESPAT. only reason i know this is cause my friends brother got an unreleased-for-civilian camo camelbak from the navy. if you know someone with connections to the military you might be able to find some really cool stuff :)
I know this is a super old post but I just want to point out that this is not the case. I purchased a brand new desert digital camelbak motherlode directly from Amazon many years ago. It was not on the website because the pattern was discontinued not because it's a military only item. I was in the military and the military-only-issued items don't even have the tags or in some cases the brand logo on the item. The camelbak came with all "civilian" consumer tags and logos. And if you check out the current camobak lineup, they are selling multi-cam items, and does not mean that only Army can get them.
I have this pack in MTP camo. Really good pack except mine doesn't have the small zip pocket at the top with the fleece material. Also I don't have the waist strap which I wish I had!!!!! If anyone can tell me a website I can get it off i'd be greatfull! Never got to use this pack for real unfortunately as I was medically discharged from the army for INGUAINAL HERNIA! Can you believe that! They could have just operated and I would have been fine after couple months! It was my second hernia thou
Lol I reckon it stands for Big Fuckin Motherlode. Watch the official video, he compares it to the Motherlode and says it's called the BFM for obvious reasons
I bought one of the first generation BFMs to be my bugout bag in Afghanistan in 2003-04. Great pack. It can handle anything.
Great job in your review. You were well prepared about the product, it was obvious you had thought out your presentation format and sequence before you actually started filming, and your pacing was excellent. Nicely done, and thanks.
great review, I had no idea that pack had a frame sheet in it. If Camelbak had advertised that feature, I would have picked one up years ago.

Very good review.Covers everything.
Fold? I haven't noticed that with mine!?? I'll check tomorrow. What a fantastic pack! Still surprising me! lol
where did your friend get the pack?
The pictures I have seen show the lower side pockets without the MOLLE
Back when 🐫 cared about quality! Unfortunately now it’s profit over quality! The quality of these backpacks have dwindled!

Awesome review, you're very easy to listen to...i'm subscribing :)
any chance of getting a hawg 500 review? I would really like to get your take on them and you do such a great job of showing the packs off. thanks
@ATJSTeam He's not joking, there's a "motherlode" and the classic BFM looks just like that but beefed up.
thanks for the review. i used this in AFGHN and it worked great! i hate ACU Assualt because it doesn't have dedicated hydration bladder pocket. i am in Ranger Battalion so we got this and i am glad. the ACU Assault is one mistake for US ARMY procurment unit, Assault is piece of crap. Great review! Thanks you!!
Mine doesn't have the molle on the side and the compression straps are located lower. This is kinda making me want a new pack

What about camelbak in 2021???
Dat smudge.

@matthewxbrown ......dat was a nice review
@clousehu It has drain holes.

Those side pockets do hold a 1 litre bottle. Watch official vid on camelbak website

Run! it's the Police! haha
Teacher: Where will you be in ten years? Boy: Where all the good boys go, Afghanistan! :D
Hi, would you sell me the bag?
is It made in USA or in China
US
damn it, that blur spot in the middle pisses me a lot!
On sale
Lol I reckon it stands for Big Fuckin Motherlode. Watch the official video, he compares it to the Motherlode and says it's called the BFM for obvious reasons
Motherlode: 2258 cu in / 37L
Big F***ing Motherlode: 2810 cu in / 46L
@matthewxbrown im using this kind of bag.....its realy gud....but the price here in in the philipine is expensive....but it ok
I like bong loads : )
Out in the the military field, there is no such thing as waterproof. Drying is much more important then waterproofing!
if it wasn't so overpriced (and it is,even 6 years after this video) it would be a very good pack
made in USA comes with an extra price i find is worth it.
$60 at LApolicegear RIGHT NOW. Smoking deal.
79$ on their website right now
Made in????? Over seas??????...im sure
@armymedic98 hey buddy it's a joke.. settle down
Is it a heavy bag?
