I bought a full Virpil setup off of craigslist for a steal after a couple of years of flying with my Gladiator NXT. It was my first flight stick and I still own it. I will most likely be picking one of these bad boys up. I love your products. They are very well made, user friendly, and reasonably priced. Super excited this finally released.
Looks amazing, I was just about to get a new HOTAS soon, and I was almost decided for Virpil throttle + Mk.III gunfighter. Now I'm definitely waiting for this + the Mk.IV MCG-U, and at least I won't have to mix brands anymore!
AMAZING, AMAZING! It looks like this is what I have been waiting for. I bought and sold Virpil's MongoosT-50CM3 Throttle - and I'm still using my 1st one, Thrustmaster's TWCS. But this looks way more promising. I hope VKB pulled it off this time, as it did with the joystick Gunfighter Mk3 - love it.
@@UncleVoltoto Aesthetics reasons for me. Can't say for the others, but I've been eyeing the TECS for long while mainly for the look. I like the functions the CM3 got me, and it served me well, but to be honest, it look a bit....off. If TECS offer similar functionality, then why the heck not? Though I'd probably wait to see the linear version and, if possible, its GNX-equivalent extension first.

Yes... Sadly just not the thumb mini-stick to be able moved to front for index finger. And hopefully you can add more complex ones, than just what comes with it (like add more 5-way).
IF you've made it when you can adjust the clutches without having to take apart the gimbal CM3 style you might just have a sale. IF you've also made it where I don't have to reflash every time I change sticks, you've DEFINITELY got a sale.

I went from GF3 to CM3 mostly because I could adjust the clutches on the fly without having to take the thing apart. TM stick use without the adapters also a nice selling point. But truth be told I still prefer the 'feel' of the Gunfighter. It's close, enough that adjustable clutches on the fly pushed me over to CM3. But I still use my Gunfighter when flying Tomcat, and if GFIV added those features I'd buy it in a heartbeat
@grifnizzle7197 Oh, as regards the on the fly adjustment of the dampers, absolutely. I was really only talking about having to reflash the firmware when changing grips and how it's necessary on both Virpil and VKB (and probably Win Wing, too). That said, thinking about it, VKB could even fix that if they added the ability for each grip to contain its own firmware that the base PCB could use (or possibly more simply, have the ability for the grip to hold the firmware changes it needs to work and the base to detect a changed grip and pull in the firmware changes from the grip automatically).
@@stevedavey1343 I was thinking more creative use of the blockbox. Almost seems like that's what it was originally meant for, otherwise why not incorporate it into the base itself like everyone else? Seems like either a future proofing idea or just a missed opportunity
@grifnizzle7197 The black box was originally intended to serve as a hub for various VKB devices like the old discontinued Black Mamba, the T-Rudder pedals, the Gunfighter and future products, thus it being separate. It also helps keep the devices smaller and simpler. Of course you're right; that's where the main PCB with the firmware for the Gunfighter (and the T-Rudders) and I should have said 'black box' rather than 'base'. :)
@@termitreter6545 if STECS has a right handed throttle option I'll buy it and a left handed stick the same day from Verpil. And I gave right handed stick a try, it's mediocre, especially air to air refueling.

Would this throttle be a good fit for space sims? Some feedback: I am your customer with a gladiator NXT and love it but for throttle I have a thrustmaster t16000m with the bearing mods which is really nice in Elite Dangerous. Would an NXT omnithrottle be best? Or this. Wondering what others think too. thanks.
The omnithrottle's big selling point is the large throw for laterals, giving you much better control and accuracy than with a ministick in that regard. It's less of a big deal in Elite than in SC, but can still come in handy if you're doing a lot of combat with veyr agile ships. If you're mainly space trucking or exploring, STECS will work fine (it will also work in combat of course, just not as specialized), and will be much more appropriate if you get into flight sims (Omni can work as a plane throttle in a pinch, but it's lacking detents).
@@jukahri Thank you for the detailed reply. I am loving my NXT so far. You gave me one idea for using the omnithrottle in Elite: When doing terrain scanning with the ship looking for biology at 50m or less, it will be more precise for moving sideways than the ministick. I am curious to try. o7

I will definitely miss the two axis levers that were on either side of the earlier TECS design, as shown in photos from last year. Really wanted them for WW2 mixture and prop controls, as I really don't like using the rotating knob on my old TWCS (and buttons) for that.
Yes, those two axis were very attractive design. Hold for so long until just now in this just removed. You would have used it for example F-14 swing sweep lever, or harrier nozzle lever, or even as a landing gear lever (axis-to-button) for all, and other of course for flaps and like... As well I find it odd that the mini-joystick is not movable from thumb to index finger. It would have been nice thing.
I think you need to wait for the Phase 2, as that is likely the time when the linear throttle comes out, and you get the electronic detentes (these are the cheap ones, with mechanical detents that you can program. Where next ones should be fully electronic detentes that change by software).
Wait a minute... so the yearlong waiting finally comes to an end and we'll no longer be able to complain at the forums about the estimated release of the throttle? I'm upset and my day is ruined. And so relieved. ;)
@@VKBSim I mean like how you can take a Gladiator NXT Evo and remove its side plates and attach a GNX THQ (Throttle quadrant) to either side of it so they become a single unit. Like your NXT Throttle Combos that have multiple NXT modules attached. Basically is there a version of the STECS with a base compatible with the NXT modules that you can remove the sides of and directly attach a Gladiator NXT to ones side and then have a SEM module attached to the other side of the STECS. Not simply sat together, but physically connected as a single combo unit. Atm all the versions I can see (Mini, Mini Plus, Standard and Max) all have square bases and it doesn't look like it would connect to the trapezoidal side connections of the NXT modules.
@@RainMakeR_Workshop STECS is a different line, so the only way to attach any NXT modules to it is using a MFH (like the STECS Max); so not on the sides.

If there aren't atm, I hope its something VKB would consider as having a dual throttle as part of the NXT range would be awesome for people using NXT products. I mean you already have the WWII THQ Grip that can be added to the GNX THQ Throttle Quadrant. All I really want is another grip option that is split and has the all the extra buttons, switches , rotary encoders, hat switches, sliders and finger lifts at your fingertips.
It's the Gunfighter Base (probably the Mk.IV they are teasing) with the Modern Combat Grip Ultimate MCG U Grip So, the high end all metal grip, on the high end all metal base.

Looks cheap. The phillips screws, the seams and mold lines, the cheap looking plastic, the toy "safe" buttons. It won't be competing with TM Warthog, Winwing Orion or Virpil CM3.
Yeah this is a far cry from the initial TECs renders they shown 4-5 years ago. But I guess this is good for people on a budget, but if you got the cash there are better options out there

You have to reflash with Virpil too I think. It's the nature of having the device's config in firmware on the device.

I would only hope for the whole thing to me a tad lower. Hard to use it for a long time on the table with hand in the air
They also sell UCM desk mounts that clamp onto your desk and hold the stick lower, between your knees or to the side if you want.

Not entirely sure what you mean., but you could use STECS and NXT modules on the same computer, as independent units, or even interconnect them.
