Hey Dan, Loving these Vlogs, brings me back to playing there in the summer as a junior. So, when I was younger, I did an Archaeological Survey on the Common, so can give you a little more info on the area. So on Minchinhampton Common, there has been activity there since the Neolithic period, on the 7th hole just off the green was an old Long Barrow is known as Whitfields Tump, which was used for mass preaching’s in the 1700s by a priest called George Whitfield, apparently congregations with over 10,000 people. The barrow was raided so it’s just a small hump in the ground now. In terms of the other features, so on the 6th and 13th to 14th, you would have seen the Bulwarks, which you played over or parrel with, these were created during the Iron age and believed to extending across the common, this is the reason there are large craters and earthworks around. However, they aren’t sure if it was an actual Iron Age settlement/fort or the boundaries served as an enclosure of sorts. They also found Roman pottery in the Bulwarks, so there is evidence that the Roman may have also used the land, which would link as the area is about 10 miles from the Roman capital of England, Cirencester. Henry is right about the 11th green, this is a bomb crater and there are quarries to the left of the 7th and near the 15th/16th holes, also in WW2 the area served as a field hospital. Bertie
My pleasure Dan, its easy when your Vlogs as so good. These ones have been an especially nice surpise as i have been missing home recently (living and stuck in Australia), so its been awesome to see the course again.
Hard to believe you guys aren’t at 50,000 subs yet. You all have better vlogs with high quality film. And let’s not forget the awesome personalities with great laughs. Best channel of you ask me.
Why has the channel only got 37.5 k subscribers ? It’s one of the best out there. some have 350k that are no where near the same quality. High quality Golf. Humour. Banter. Advice. Insights from tour pro’s. spectacular courses.
My original course. I started playing there as a junior in 1973. It's changed a great deal. The first was always a par 4. The second green was off to the left of the existing green, you hit your approach shot way to the right (just left of the telegraph pole) and it ran down to the green. Too long and you could end up in the house behind. We used to play a one club competition on the day the cows were let out - cow pat night. A variation was to play from the fifth tee to the old 14th green in some nine hole competitions. The fifth tee has been moved away from the road, presumably to stay away from cars. i hit my longest ever drive there - bouncing down the road to end up pin high (way to the right of the green) 400 yards away. The sixth tee is now way to the right, we used to drive across the road from nearer the church. The seventh has a different green, the original being near the road and people had picnics on it. The eighth hasn't changed, don't go left! Ninth pretty much as it was, but tees a little further left. The tenth has changed entirely, it was a par 3 over the quarry, a fantastic hole, but the green was too close to the road. The eleventh tees used to be nearer the 10th green near the road. There was never a par 3 around Tom Long's post, but I'll return to that. The twelfth has changed significantly - the tee was next to the road and the green further on over the undulations to the right of the existing hole. The ditch which ran across the fairway doesn't seem to be there, or it's further to the right of the new fairway. A great original par 5, but again too close to the road with out of bounds over the road. The fourteenth was probably the hole you'd heard about, it was originally a par 4 over two roads - drive from the back of the thirteenth over the road, then play to the old green over the next road. Yes, I hit a car more than once when approaching the green! The fifteenth tee has moved to near the new green. Originally we played back over the road over the big ditch which ran across the hole. The seventeenth was my favourite hole, being driveable with a bit of fade. The tee was the other side of the road from the sixteenth green, so a shot over the road to the fairway and roll on to the green to the right. Great memories, thanks for bringing them back. My eagles on the 2nd, 17th and 18th will always stay with me.
Went to read the legend of Tom Long on Google, Wow,, All I can say is that society back then did not screw around with criminals. I like the history lessons that come with these vlogs, Course history . Town history, area history. I thought when I subscribed I would be solely entertained with Golf, It turns out I have learned more from Dan's channel than I got in History class in the 70's :)
Hi Dan, I think the par 3 you refer to was the old 10th, which was also a par 3 across the canyon to a postage stamp green by the road. Green was behind your right shoulder at 45 degrees standing on 11th tee. It was like that in the 80s, any thing over the green by 10 yards was in the road.
Big up the Henry! I did then wander, how many un- exploded stuff you were stepping on. Anyhow, back to H, he’s set a trend I feel - If you boys turned up Bristol area for example, I’d definitely come and heckle you!
Think the Zings were 1994 - there is a bloke at my golf club who has a set of them. The are a whole bundle of fun. Thanks for the great video guys! Same year as one of the all time great records from Jeff Buckley - Grace.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 at paul , 11:10 me as a lad in the church. I'm with paul, that cack hand action of Bernie is hard on the eyes, but he makes it work some how in better situations. Now back to the action. Lol.
I had a brand new set of Ping Zing 2’s when I first met my wife in 1994. I told her back then that I nearly loved her as much as my golf clubs. Never said it again. 😬
Coming from Richmond in Nth Yorks, which is a market town surrounded by farms, there has been sadly two people out walking their dogs killed by cows with young. Just wondering why it's safe to be out walking or playing golf surrounded by cows.
Having no doubt that bombs landed in the area, if I had to bet my life on it I would say that green is sat in a depression that had been a quarry. I am wrong quite a bit though.
Does it feel like a cow pie Bernie “yes” does it smell like cow pie Bernie “yes” does it taste like cow pie Bernie “yes” Dan “lucky we didn’t step in it” lol 😂
Paused before he plays the flop shot required, oh how funny would it be if he flops it into that fresh looking cow s**t, ok, let’s see it Bernie…..aww, surely a confident flop shot (as Paul says, not cack handed) would have been best bet off that lie. (What shot would Dan and Paul have played?). Lucky links lies, not round our place today, had some really horrible lies. It really pays to be on the fairways at the moment, the rough is proper haymaking stuff. Is that a bus tour rule or a local rule regarding the free drop? Rule 23-1, animal droppings are classed as loose impediments, you should have moved the cowpat Bernie, now that would have been a comedy moment for the channel.
Gotta love Jordan and his one-liners! LOL!!
"Everybody is a comedian on this channel, but nobody is funny", may be the best comment ever. Lester wins 1 up on that alone.

Thank you for this Bertie, would have been great to know this before playing, but love the info, thanks again and thanks for watching
My pleasure Dan, its easy when your Vlogs as so good. These ones have been an especially nice surpise as i have been missing home recently (living and stuck in Australia), so its been awesome to see the course again.
Hangings, Long Tom. But “Taste like Mud” is the Line of the Series.
Getting the crowd involved…respect.
Dan's brothers face @ 27 mins when Dan said about feeling being on the bomb site 🤣
Love the course Vlogs!!! This what I miss about the older channels that have slowed down on the course Vlog content, Parfield and Sheels
Just brilliant entertainment with the added bonus of a bit of history thrown in coupled with, as a Dan bonus, some golfing tips too. May have a beer
Good stuff again guys and enjoying the history - great comment below from Bertie!!
Hard to believe you guys aren’t at 50,000 subs yet. You all have better vlogs with high quality film. And let’s not forget the awesome personalities with great laughs. Best channel of you ask me.
Thanks Jesse
Great that you guys got Henry involved in the vlog. Seems like a nice young man Love the channel
Paul is the Master of the Teapot Pose
Dan - ‘feeling the history’, while Paul is behind him thinking, “I’ve put up with this all my life”.
So true
I love Uncle Dan's history hour.
Great vlog well done Henry lol
'Jordan cam' is the reason I am here. Sets you guys apart from the others, keep it up...

Nice one Henry, cheers for the info 👏👍

Brilliant vid, great fun format
come for the golf but enjoy the history

Has Paul named his putter HMS Titanic yet? It's extremely large, and easy to sink...putts.
Dan, you weren't the only one anxious when Bernie started picking at his golf spikes with his bare hand with all those cow pies on the course, lol.
“I don’t feel comfortable with anything “ 👏👏 I love it!!!!
Love the lurkers tagging along. They know quality entertainment when they see it
I enjoy the golf plus the history so don't stop. 😀
Great vlog and some good golf plus laughs. The Ping Zing irons came out early 90's i think and the Zing 2 a bit later.
Had Dan not made it in golf, I believe he’d have been a great history teacher .
Love Paul's face when Dan is in history mode... he's like "yip he is my brother"
Line with Lester says "everyone likes a happy ending" 😂😂😂😂
What a turnaround by Dan’s brother.
What a nice little course this is.
Dan waffling on about history and bomb craters and Dan just standing there in the background thinking "what are you waffling on about!! "
Dan telling stories, Paul's face saying 'can we just get on with the f**King game''
Wheels are wobbling for barnsy, Paul silently making a move and Dan with a hanging lesson. Makes for some good golf.
1994, a vintage year for music, literature and ping irons 😀
"everybody loves a good story" Dan the key word is good😁 Paul looked about to hang you from that pole if that story was any longer😂
Enjoyed the banter the course is so different
Should Play Golf Pro Lee’s home club again when it’s greener, it was burnt last time. Would love to see it All Green
You guys just keep getting better.
Fun history lessons aswell 😀
I take it tomorrow is just fish Friday for Lester as he don't do CHIPS lol
Another great video ,history lesson all included.I saw Paul nodding off though 😂 keep them coming
Big up the Henry! I did then wander, how many un- exploded stuff you were stepping on. Anyhow, back to H, he’s set a trend I feel - If you boys turned up Bristol area for example, I’d definitely come and heckle you!
Greatly appreciated Dan’s history lesson, so many of your golf courses have interesting history to them. Very nice looking course.
I really enjoyed the History less today good to get a bit of local colour
It just dawned on me, .... dan and paul are the Frazier and nyles of golf.
That's why its instant hit when Paul is on.
So is Bernie, Daphne or the Dad?
@@Jogaan03 ... well bernie golf has improved, and we can see them elbows been more out because of it. So he's martin crane.
Gotta love Dan's history lessons!!
I don't think Paul's bought a pair of golf pants since the 90s lol likes his baggy pants eh?
Much better than those skinny pants Lester buys from the children's department.
best content on you tube boys its just so funny to listen to all the little comments and to bernies woes keep it up lads its great stuff
Zing 2s a work of beauty! My irons date from 1994.
Think the Zings were 1994 - there is a bloke at my golf club who has a set of them. The are a whole bundle of fun. Thanks for the great video guys!
Same year as one of the all time great records from Jeff Buckley - Grace.
needs more of jordan takin the wee out of bernie!
Brilliant, fish and chips tomorrow lads??
Paul and his 218 yd 4iron 🤣 💪🏻
Love the club slam Bernie always makes me feel better hope it helped u 😂😂👏🏻👏🏻
Every time I hear this music intro I expect to hear Dennis Waterman singing the theme to "Minder"
Great history about the green. Will you be interviewing James Ruth after his great performance at English champs?
I reckon the Ping Zing 2 was about 1995. I remember Caddying as a kid when half the golfers at the club started getting them.
Coming from Richmond in Nth Yorks, which is a market town surrounded by farms, there has been sadly two people out walking their dogs killed by cows with young. Just wondering why it's safe to be out walking or playing golf surrounded by cows.
Like the new logo Dan, almost as nice and the FJ top Lester's wearing.
😉
In the future when referencing Bernie's putts, just replace "still some meat left on that bone" to "still some corn on that cob."
27 years young that 2 iron! The irons must’ve been number 1 longer than Wet Wet Wet!
Lester trying to do a Superman and tucking his shirt in his undies!
I am subscribed and watch these religiously lol
Good lad John 👍
A new logo I see... I like it 😍
😉
Bernies got the oldest WITB in history, Zing 2 released 1994. That’s why we love the people’s champ🤣
Wearing his cap Jordan manages to look like Ricky Fowler
Gilly and Wilbur to feature more regularly! 👌
Not quite that easy, Gilly has a shop to run and Wilbur plays a lot, keep watching because they will be back
I love listening to Gilly too, love his sense of humour
The PING Zing 2 irons were introduced in 1994!
Long Tom....cobra 48 inch driver
Having no doubt that bombs landed in the area, if I had to bet my life on it I would say that green is sat in a depression that had been a quarry. I am wrong quite a bit though.
Does it feel like a cow pie Bernie “yes” does it smell like cow pie Bernie “yes” does it taste like cow pie Bernie “yes” Dan “lucky we didn’t step in it” lol 😂
Jesus Dan the traffic
Could stop the cars 😂
My understanding is that the “bomb holes” were put there during one of the world wars as a deterrent to stop German aircraft landing in the area
What a line - I feel like I’m sitting my A level maths exam 😂😂😂
We do have modern highwaymen Dan speed cameras lol
😂
What music is the intro Dan ? It's catchy and like some 80s sit com .
What is that head cover Bernie?
Who were the two people following you round.
Great video as always.
Ignore that, I commented before getting to the bit that Henry was introduced.
The Ping Zing 2's came out in 1994.
27 years young 😄
Think Zing 2s were first introduced around 1994
1994 to 1995 I believe is release date of that 2 iron
I thought he meant highways agency 🤣😂
Tom Long the highwayman stopped CARS. Hmm....
You should have let Henry hit a shot 🙂
I am afraid that I would not have been able to as I am left handed
@@henrypolley3508 I see. I'm lefthanded too but play right handed.
That 2 iron was manufactured in 10 BC...
The course is covered in bomb craters as it was used for target practice in ww2
When did Lester start shaving his legs before a match ?
I'm guessing the Zing's came out aroung 92 or 93.
Lester was right after they hung him he was known as, Long Tom.
come on Bernie
What happened to Jordan's locks?!
Gone ✂️
Touch of Ricky fowler??
Zing 2 were released in 1994
Someone could have told Lester he had his top tucked into his pants…
Paused before he plays the flop shot required, oh how funny would it be if he flops it into that fresh looking cow s**t, ok, let’s see it Bernie…..aww, surely a confident flop shot (as Paul says, not cack handed) would have been best bet off that lie. I am 👌
Don’t worry Lester, I also didn’t feel comfortable over any shot today, even worse, putts, just totally rubbish today also blooming 🥵
