My sister bought me one of these for Christmas 2 years ago and is GREAT. As a machinist and just an all around guide and reference book it's been invaluable. It's got topic you can think of in it, i actually carry it in my lunch box.
I saw this book at the local hardware store and thumbed through it while in line I had to have it. It is been very handy and I keep it in my go bag. Use it for work and home. Definetly recommend.
I am such a nerd . I keep one in both my tool boxes . In my ham radio go box . In all my bugout bags and I have been known to give them away as gifts . Glad to see you sharing the info with everyone.
It's actually called Alone in the Wilderness. There's two of them: Alone in the Wilderness, and Alone in the Wilderness II. It's very good; got me interested in wilderness survival. Dick Proenneke lived on Lake Clark in Alaska after he reached a point in his life where his health was in jeopardy and he needed alone time!
Also, for those looking for this book, check out Amazon also. I absolutely don't want to step on Sooch's toes; the only reason I suggest it is that Maxpedition's site has the 3rd Edition printing, and the 4th is available on Amazon. I personally want the latest and greatest, so that's where I'm going to get mine.
This is a very good book to have around. Keep a copy in the john for those brief reading sessions. You never know what information might come in handy later.
This is a great book but I will note that has been available for years. I can't remember when it wasn't on the shelf at my local hardware store not to mention Harbor Freight, Wally World (Walmart) etc. The amount of info is amazing but you do not have to pay S+H to get it.
Love it. I'm staring at one on my desk and had no clue what to do with it. I suppose I could have actually opened it and looked through it, but who has the time? ;)
Sootch, if you play any video games, I recommend Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. They are some of the few games out there, that could serve as a fun and interesting simulation, for current and would-be preppers. If you remember the game Oregon Trail, it is very similar to that. Good video.
I subscribe to both your channels and enjoy and am informed by much of what you produce. Having said that the first 30 seconds of this video were way to over the top and hammy for me. What you produce has enough quality to it to not need the over the top intros that you put on some of your videos. Sorry but I had to say it.
Probably, they have different editions for different fields..... The ones at the hardware store are the originals, and I would highly recommend them for general use. Sounds like this one is geared towards survival and outdoors maybe? I haven't seen it in person, so I don't know, but I fully plan on tracking on down.

I like the intros, there's nothing wrong with your style, its refreshing and wholesome.
Keep your powder dry

Been picking these books up at Harbor Freight for almost 20 years.. End up wearing one out every couple years. And there are updates every year.
Sootch has an excellent sense of humor folks. He really should do some satirical stuff.

This is the book I've been looking for! Thanks Sootch.
I had a version of this guide book and it was the best, most awesome book ever!! I miss it every day! I hope to replace it soon!

Would that be Richard Proenneke? If so, I've seen that documentary, and I agree it's a "must watch." Simply amazing.

Maxpedition really needs to update to the 4th edition. Got mine off Amazon last year and I love it.

If you make this book into a PDF, i'm sure it would help you gain a lot more subscribers
I see I'm going to have to purchase this to go in my new Maxpedition Versapack EDC. Great review as always, Sooch!
Great book for you tool box, I used this for an engineering reference guide these are a must have. Harbor freight carry these books.
Good review, i love the bloopers, keep it up sootch!!!
We sell them at my welding supply store. I read it on my downtime. It's awesome.
Picked up 2 of them @ harbor freight, cheaper than any place else, good book to have in a bob.
Man you're such a formidable actor. Love your intros. hehehe
@Liowen I think I saw that documentary. It was fascinating. I think he had to move into a nursing home, when he got old (if it's the same man).
Anyone got a good way of putting the pocket ref in a good book cover or just protection in general?
Love it. I'm staring at one on my desk and had no clue what to do with it. I suppose I could have actually opened it and looked through it, but who has the time? ;)
That is the Third edition, a while ago the forth edition was released.
💚💚💚
sootch00 can even make a book tactical LOL
Maxpeditions photos online of this item are very poor, it doesn't look very worthwhile on the site. Seeing it in person, it's very nice !
I think you mean Alone in the Wilderness, and if you do i agree it is a good documentary.
hard copy for the bug-out bag

Anyone else wants a review of sootch's watch?
