We thank you bus drivers of america. For your service to our communities. For keeping our children safe. For being on the ball when the ball has the possibilty of going flat. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Kinda related but I remember my bus driver as a kid got quite annoyed at the feet in the aisle thing. He then purposed a competition in which he would buy us pizza if we didn’t do it anymore. We obliged for a few days, no pizza. Eventually I assumed he was just lying to get us to do the aisle thing. However little did I know one day I would just see a stack of pizzas at the front of the bus. He did follow through on that promise and he got in trouble for it but said it was worth it. Coolest bus driver I have ever met. We didn’t do the feet in the aisle thing anymore even after the pizza promise was gone.
I had the same bus driver for every year of school and she was the best. I will remember her for as long as I live. It's a thankless job, but I made sure she knew I was thankful.
Well done for letting her know. When you're a kid, it's easy to forget the "supporting staff" surrounding you. I remember when I was like 11, I occasionally had some short, friendly chats with an elderly cleaning lady at school (no idea how it started, as I was generally a pretty bratty, self-centered kid). A few years later, when she retired, she gave me a card, a small gift and gave me a hug. I had no idea how much those small interactions meant to her. It wasn't until I became an adult with a job that I fully realised the importance of getting recognized, not only for the job you do, but also for the human being you are behind the job.
I remember being the only kid who would say thank you every day for when we got off at my stop in hs, I tried being really nice because I had terrible drivers all throughout mid and elementary and appreciated when they didn’t hit speed bumps doing like 35+ and yell at us for screaming. One I had, the man told all us like ~10 year olds that the bus wont work because we’re too loud, let us off on the side of the road outside a plaza and drove off after a couple minutes. We had a diff driver and bus number every week after that.

most bus drivers.
some just could not care less for children, like they dont even bat an eye to someone literally hitting someone else.
i used to have this bus driver where the kids ended up getting so chaotic, the bus driver assigned seats and made everyone stay quiet and in their seats. no one ever listened, to be honest so she gave up. this was in elementary and ill admit, i didnt listen to the staying in the assigned seats. i thought it was stupid since we never had assigned seats before. all i ever did was go straight toward my friend in the back of the bus and we would pull out our stuffed animals and would play with thoses till either we got to school, or one of us had to go.
i wouldve been able ti stay in touch with her, had i not mover a good 20-30 minutes away from where i once lived.
i miss playing with you, Rowan, and i still remember how to spell your name correctly! i remember how when you asked me how it was spelt, you said i was the first person to get it right the first time. do you remember Ms. Myers from Target class? where we learned how to play chess, how to write hyroglyphics, how to do a bit of algerba? what about Abby? or Emory? what about Gavin and Mariana? i remember how me and Emory started "creeper club" because we both loved minecraft.
do you remember Slush, Rowan? he used to be so bold. now hes scared more often, maybe because i accidentally left him in the corner of my room for a year! hah!
i remember how your house had a pool in your back yard. i remember how right before your stop in the mornings, i would awe at your neighbor's christmas decoations on their yard. i miss those days. i hope i can see you again some day, Rowan.

One I had, the man told all us like ~10 year olds that the bus wont work because we’re too loud, let us off on the side of the road outside a plaza and drove off after a couple minutes.
