For those wondering: this is a reposted video that is a few years old. It was posted around the time Haley posted her first music video for Simmer. The artist accusing her of stealing the concept for the music video was Jonna Lee of iamamiwhoami. It was found later that two members of the creative team on Haley's music video were in fact fans of iamamiwhoami. Wasn't really Haley's fault, seems like she was surrounding herself with sketchy creatives at the time.

I've probably been to over 20 Paramore shows and I know their stuff is authentic. By the same token, if anyone believes that artists aren't influenced by other artists is delusional. Plagiarism………. although in musical art or such other creative medias, plagiarism happens to become a part of miscommunication in moments of hard knocks.

But that doesn't mean everything. Sometimes a coincidence is a coincidence. If you look hard enough you can find that 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon........
If its a common time signature and a handful or chords you are going to have similar songs. That's why I love George Harrison, he subconsciously copied a song and when it was brought to his attention he realised he did because he had heard the song in question before and he offered to give royalties but the beatles manager decided to refuse that and go to court.
Absolute no hate but didn’t she accused one direction of the same thing years ago? I remember being so mad lmao, i couldn’t care less nowadays, just thought it was ironic
I know this is not about the olivia thing but it does seem ironic that olivia somehow needs to pay paramore royalty for what amounts to the same chord progression and a very slightly similar chorus melody, but THIS time when an artist comes after you for the same thing it doesnt count because you havent heard of her? That's not how interpolation works, you either need to take a stand against the ridiculous concept that is interpolation and give olivia that money back or you owe this new artist some money, you can't have it both ways. For the record even though it may not sound like it I am a fan and have a massive amount of respect for haley and for paramore, but there are far too many musicians taking advantage of these legal loop holes to effectively steal money that is not theirs. Musicians need to be united now more than ever and lift each other up jot test them down.
Lol, we have to draw a line to really know how much "inspiration" you took from an artist. So we know what is and isn't acceptable. To me personally, it's not about the chord progressions or rhythms or melodies because those can be finite, it's more about originality. Regardless, music should be an extension of an artist and his inspirations not the other way around With all the artists running around sounding all so similar (they use the same 808 drum kits and shit lol....), We NEED to promote originality and set clear lines with what is and isn't plagiarism.
what i find even funnier is hayley denying any wrong doing and acting like she has never even heard of iamamiwhoami and it was her "creative team" that made an honest mistake. i took about 5 minutes to read up on iamamiwhoami and it is totally impossible that hayley didnt know who this artist is. if you watch the progression of hayley williams over the span of her career - you will see that her identity changes every few years. she is a "chameleon" for lack of a better word. the similarities between "petals for armor" and "iamamiwhoami" are striking. its not just the music - its her entire image. the photography - the color pallets - the song titles - basically everything about the current hayley williams NPC is an imitation version of this much more talented/original artist.
I think it's the whole managers and big companies placing these accusation traps out there. Like, why not be adults and make meetings to talk about things without accusation? Or why not just stop using drum beats as excuse like if it steals an entire song when almost every song has a snare drum roll. Should artists and bands sue each other for using a basic snare drum roll in a song? Then why use a 5 second to 8 second beat and accuse of stealing a song idea? It's not taking the lyrics and saying you wrote those lyrics. Though I can understand that melodies, and dedication could inspire a somewhat "make sure to credit me," type of manner. Yet, it feels so like little picks to sue over a major whole written song by someone who deserves the credit of writing that particular song. Yet, it feels just like something they need to update or fix maybe to allow artists or bands to not feel like having to argue and fight over little things?
the hypocrisy, no shade to her but like she said, she didnt get no inspiration from that other artist, it just sounds the same. which goes the same for olivias song! to which! a youtuber tristan paredes and other youtubers have shown it is not entirely the same! it sounds similar cause its what the "punk rock" ish genre sounds like and he even showed songs from differnet bands and artist who have very similar cord progression and songs that uses the same lines and lyrics in that field of genre. so her trying to get a coin from olivia is just awful of her. THE HYPOCRISY ! so disappointing. i recommend you all to watch tristans video about good 4 you and let him open your eyes! i mean good for olivia to just stay out of the dramas but you all better stop taking advantage of her. what a cruel world we're living in
@simonomis she was "okay with it" but took millions from her cause shes knows that song hit one number and she can get millions off of that song. so i think its her trying to play safe. i mean if that other artist shes talking about wanted credits im sure she wouldnt like or wnat it. and besides whats the "im okay with it" and have herself be credited on that song. if shes okay with it then she wouldnt care about her not being credited song (IF OLIVIA DID GET INSPIRATION FROM HER SONG). its such a two face.
@@solaniarhythm7940 yeah to avoid any more problems. and it is her responsibility, she is creating her music so and she is the face of paramore. you cannot deny that her statement on this and her wanting a song writer credits on olivias song is so hypocritical. and artist accusing her for a song cause it sounded similar and her accusing olivia cause olivia's song sounded similar to her song..... whats not clickin?

Sad how selfishness gets in the way of what could be a collaborative and healing experience. There's always a silver lining if sought after.
Hayley I love u, le echo ganas a la escuela x ti
My unique queen
When you write a song you’ll see how most songs are way different.
Absolute no hate but didn’t she accused one direction of the same thing years ago? I remember being so mad lmao, i couldn’t care less nowadays, just thought it was ironic
Lol she did? For what song ? I never knew about that
@@snowchips9596 pretty sure it was Best song ever, but I don’t remember what song they supposedly copied
Who else clicked on this thinking she was going to talk about good 4 u?
I like your music
this video is from over a year ago. this is not about olivia rodrigo
good for you you look happy as hell
Well, good for you, you look happy and healthy
Not me, if you ever cared to ask
@@WBBClips i do care. sometimes too much. how are you?
this video is about "Jonna Emily Lee", and it's from last year .. jesus
her creative team blatantly ripped off ionnalee and now she gets a chop from good 4 u royalties lmaooooooo she is so 💀💀💀
shes the worst.
I wanted to draw a graphic novel with you as the hero but I should ask permission first. Your my hero 💖 #PorygonX was here 💖
Unless you’re copying a song note for note it is not plagiarism in my book and all music should be appreciated everything is borrowed.
This is an old video and has nothing to do with Olivia and the current accusations
How tf could and also WHY tf WOULD HALEY WILLIAMS need to plagiarize
@Power Load lmaoooo what???? paramore is still making music and she has a successful hairdye company.. what are you on about?
software engineers using stackoverflow left the room
HAYLEY UR MY SHOOTING STAR BABE!! 😉
Que es lo que dice si alguien me pude explicar
Regardless, music should be an extension of an artist and his inspirations not the other way around
With all the artists running around sounding all so similar (they use the same 808 drum kits and shit lol....), We NEED to promote originality and set clear lines with what is and isn't plagiarism.
what i find even funnier is hayley denying any wrong doing and acting like she has never even heard of iamamiwhoami and it was her "creative team" that made an honest mistake. i took about 5 minutes to read up on iamamiwhoami and it is totally impossible that hayley didnt know who this artist is. if you watch the progression of hayley williams over the span of her career - you will see that her identity changes every few years. she is a "chameleon" for lack of a better word.
the similarities between "petals for armor" and "iamamiwhoami" are striking. its not just the music - its her entire image. the photography - the color pallets - the song titles - basically everything about the current hayley williams NPC is an imitation version of this much more talented/original artist.
Funny she mentions "I don't know her" because Mariah was saying that bc JLo STOLE from her lmao.
the hypocrisy, no shade to her but like she said, she didnt get no inspiration from that other artist, it just sounds the same. which goes the same for olivias song! to which! a youtuber tristan paredes and other youtubers have shown it is not entirely the same! it sounds similar cause its what the "punk rock" ish genre sounds like and he even showed songs from differnet bands and artist who have very similar cord progression and songs that uses the same lines and lyrics in that field of genre. so her trying to get a coin from olivia is just awful of her. THE HYPOCRISY ! so disappointing. i recommend you all to watch tristans video about good 4 you and let him open your eyes! i mean good for olivia to just stay out of the dramas but you all better stop taking advantage of her. what a cruel world we're living in
yes !!
@@rickieblu2598 didn't Olivia herself give the songwriter credits to her. And I'm pretty sure her publisher was responsible for that, not hayley
@@rickieblu2598 artists don't make all the decisions themselves. people who are responsible for copyright and licensing are the labels. artists usually don't have a say in this. where is the proof the she made the decision herself
Eclectic means borrowing.. Like no worries there per say..for myself goes "hi ...I am John Mayer. These are some songs I wrote with my band and do you mind if we go for a little while tonite.. I am levitating
is she going to talk about the olivia rodrigo thing?
"it Just happens" basicly she isnt giving attention to something that actually happens all the time in The industry.
Is this 1D?that was years ago
