That shirt is insane.
Huf x Street Fighter? Yeah that was instant cop. :)
Mannnnn I can’t tell you how much this quick video helped me..I’m a love musician so it’s about capturing my feel and then building around. I haven’t been able to figure out the best way to do this but this video feels like the way!! Thank you!! Continued creating
I love these tutorials. Carl is the best!!! 😍😍😍

Just an FYI, there are "2" browsers in Reason, one on the seq pane and one on the rack pane and they are not linked unless the windows are nested, so if they are not nested in one window, the REX file you just created will not be able to be dragged into the Seq like other instruments, it will be a wave file. However, you can click "create" in the browser or if you are in the rack browser you will have to search or locate the new file which by default is in the "song samples/all self contained samples" folder already created in the browser and that can be dragged into the rack.
Also, unless you save it as a patch it will only be available in the project it was created in.
I had no idea you could add and remove slices like that in the timeline. That’s so huge for timing corrections!
It’s sad that you don’t have the same options as recycle, like adjusting the sensibility of how chops are detected, and others :( You guys should fully integrate recycle into reason
That would be cool yeah. I just started using Mimic and it has a sensitivity knob for transients.
This would really be a game changer. Just a simple sensitivity slider, and an option to evenly slice by grid instead of transients.
yes, sensitivity, yes
100% Reason should incorporate Recycle, long overdue.
"Altomostest" love it.
1:33 is the greatest moment in Reason Studio Tutorial history
worst moment to me
More useful tips from a very useful guy!
Nothing beats having a sensitivity slider like recycle used to have. I suggest adding one to slice mode as well. Hell... Add it all over the place wherever slice resolution is a thing. Why not? More control is reason's MO.
I didn't expect that funk
Yes
Get that man a Norrlands Guld! Or whenever I come from Helsinki to Stockholm, I can go get one for him.
Wow thats so easy thank you very much I'm going to have a go now 😁✌🏻
Sweet Street Fighter Shirt!
Thanks!
I'd like to bounce Rex loops from Mimmic.
How can I get the reason shirt
I like!
How to disable auto rendering of extra tails at the end of each slice? It happens when you bounce to REX a loop with manually reduced cut markers.
Would be awesome to control slice markers with midi control knob just like mpc/sp404 slice editing🔥and also preview selected sample region by hitting a midi key or pad 🔥🔥
Controlling as in "moving back and forth"?
@@carlcarlsson7078 yeah that’s it, would be a good feature imo
@@jondough81 Yeah! I have an sp404 mkII though (and an Roland S760 ;) ) Might use these in another video.
I wish I looked as cool as Carl 😩🔥
Bro you do

No one can look as cool as Carl
@@jwd606 We're all just trying and failing miserably 😔
I use Reason 10. When I do this I can't get the rex file to tempo match my bpm if I increase it or lower it like you cando a traditional rex file. Any ideas?
Tell me this is just a one click process in reason 12 though.
Any obvious benefits for doing this instead of using Mimic?
You can’t make Rex files and use a sample in dr octo Rex if you chop in Mimic
What Doug said. + I just started using Mimic. Good stuff so I might use in a video later.
another reason would be if you still have r11. i do, so props for showing this
@@dougroyce5784 Thanks Doug this I understand, as a long time reason user I use REX less and less because the time stretch and "regular" sliceing in mimic works almost like Dr. Rex but maybe Im missing some feature that I havent considered. Its no critic for doing it this way and as stated below if you re an 11 user its the way to go.
Dr.OctoRex can hold 8 rex loops. Each slice in a rex loop can have independent volume, pan, pitch, decay, reverse, filter freq, and sent to 5 different stereo outputs.
Honest question, is there any value in having ReCycle anymore?
why slice it to rex loop when you already have it playing perfectly as a loop
I came across this randomly while searching for rexloops and I have no idea what this is? 😅
Reason studios going to bring back the REAL Reason logo now?
I feel like I need to hang out with this guy a take some edibles
Most annoying thing about Dr Octo Rex? The fact that I can't figure out how to audition a clip when clicking it in the little graphical display on the instrument. Only way seems to be to do it with a midi keyboard plugged in and selecting a clip by hitting a midi key. Huge omission IMHO!
oh yeah you cant't do that but agree it would be cool.
You know what is the problem with bouncing to rex? Imagine that i played 4 bar guitar loop, and then i put some fx on channel. Problem is that it will bounce only dry signal it without fx...anybody knows how to export it with fx? (don't wanna make wav first). Thanks!
Well either print to WAV! That is my golden answer to EVERYTHING. If you don't wanna do that bounce to rex, put into a rex player, add your effects after the rex player and put them all in combinator.
@@carlcarlsson7078 yes, i wanted to make sample pack but it would be easier if i could bounce directly with fx. Guess i gotta do that way, so exporting as was with fx and then bounce to rex.🙏🍀
@@8fonk Yes, print your stuff with FX is the biz.
"automatiskt eeh found".. Det var en ny en. Automagic is a good word for things that are automatic and do wonderful stuff nobody understands btw! :)
Reason its too difficult..I better use cubase or protus and were they support external plugging..
You speak better English than half of England. Be kind to yourself 😂
Annoying
Ok I've been doing that for years,I still have my copy of Recycle on desktop. NOW LISTEN... when is Reason going to give us more than one MIDI out port in prefs for clock/sync..?? why are we restricted to one port for sync out..?? every other DAW can let you send MIDI clock out from as many MIDI out ports as you have connected ( MIDI interface etc)
Hi, I'm just interested, what's the impact of this restriction? I've read your message but I can't quite figure out what it means in practice
@@antonaltmann4163 it means if I have several hardware synths and a drum machine or two and I want to send MIDI clock from my DAW to all these devices so I can jam and record that audio. It means I cannot send clock to each device so they stay in time, I have send it via the one MIDI output to the first device, then daisy chain using thru's from device to other to the next one etc.. it's super annoying and some synths don't have a thru port or some synths don't have MIDI outs either, so being able to send MIDI clock to all devices at their in ports is really useful. It can be done on all other DAW's but Reason..??
@@fiddlestickzmuzik I never work the way you describe so I don't know exactly how this works but could you use a midi interface instead of using midi thru? Also, I have 11 hardware synths in my studio, All chained from one MIDI out channel in Reason via midi thru. :)
@@carlcarlsson7078 yes but you can't send MIDI clock to each synth individually can you, I like to use the internal sequencers on synths and need clock for each synth to start those sequencers.
@@fiddlestickzmuzik just grab a passive midi thru box!
Nice :-)
I haven't used reason since we had to do slicing in Recycle. Im glad it can be done inside Reason now.
time to get back on the Reason train my mate!
