Eternal Bookstore Kit- Building and Customizing

  • I have watched many videos where people put together the popular book nook kit called "Eternal Bookstore." It inspired me to buy the kit and to film myself putting it together because most of the ones I have seen are timelapse videos and don't really answer the questions people might have if they are new to making miniatures. Additionally, I decide to veer off into my own world as I become familiar with the kit, and in a series of videos, I will share with you the customizations I made, how I made them, and why, so that you too can customize this or any book nook kit you might buy.
    Spoiler alert, I love Jane Austen so I decided that this will be a secret library at Pemberley that Elizabeth discovers after she marries Darcy and is exploring her new home. A library within a library! But I could also see this being some sort of Harry Potter inspired library or bookstore, or just a small dollhouse roombox. In upcoming videos I will convert the book nook itself into a room box so I can add even more fun items, and I will be making use of the scraps left over from punching out all the parts as well, so be sure to check it out.
    Be aware of scam sites selling book nook kits for super cheap. I bought mine from Amazon #notsponsored - you can get the exact same kit I got here:

    The precision glue applicator bottles I use, though the Aleene's above is a better applicator than the one I have: a.co/d/61kQMWo

    Help..I have gotten as far as the fireplace install. My two walls keep coming apart. I did not glue them. I'm in AZ no humidity. Suggestions please. I love this kit. It's a gift if I can get it together and not fall apart.

    • @TaraFinlay
      @TaraFinlay  Рік тому +1

      Sandra, the walls are not meant to stay together without glue. I would try Alene's Tacky Glue and clamp the walls together or use some sort of weight to hold the walls in place while they dry. The lack of humidity should make the glue dry faster. Otherwise, you could opt to wallpaper the exterior and hold it together by wrapping the wallpaper around the outside corners...but that will still require glue.

    Hi Tara.
    I'm done and love my nook book. However wall I appears to be a bit warped so when I gingerly pressed it in place the other wall actually popped out. I'm thinking about trying to gluing both in place then holding with clamps. Do you think it will hold. Or suggestions please. Thank you once again.

    I too wish I watched this before I started my book nooks. I've just done 2. One I like and one that is horribly over cluttered with badly designed lighting...looking forward to your next video with cutting out windows and adding lighting. I may gut the over cluttered nook I made and simple it down and add better custom details. Can I ask what kind of printer you recommend for miniature work? I am shopping for one and would like one that captures all the fine details. Aloha!

    • @TaraFinlay
      @TaraFinlay  Рік тому +1

      I ended up pulling mine apart- see the other videos in the series, which is done now. My printer is a Canon Pixma Pro 200. I use it for printing my illustrations and greeting cards I sell in stores, so it is good quality but may be overkill.

    Nice!!! What scale is it? 1:12 or 1:24

    • @TaraFinlay
      @TaraFinlay  Рік тому +2

      I guess it must be 1:24, though it doesn't say so anywhere. I measured the door and it was around 3" high, but furniture items and the 2D accessories like plants are not to scale at all. Which is one of the reasons I am making my own plants and accessories.
