It may look like that now. But once these double-row carrots are mature, you'll realize that there's not much room between these double rows. We like to leave room for to walk which ends up being the equivalent of two passes with the wheel hoe -- about 2 feet.
I'm a new subscriber but I'm trying to play catch up to your videos. And think like u do it's time to get back to simple I don't own none of your tools yet but sure going to be a owner but I just started gardening so I'm learning but watched my dad for years and wanted to get back to clean food but love your videos and I'm a big fan
This video makes running drip tape look so simple! I have my eye on your drip tape layer combo, I think I will need to pull that trigger this spring. One question though, I will need to use the drip tape with rain barrels, think I will get enough pressure to cover around 600 sq ft with 2-3 55 gallon barrels? I will be raising them up on 3' platforms, to get a little better pressure from them.
I surely will, as soon as my barrels unfreeze! I envy your growing season down there. Up here in Michigan we get tons of downtime to make plans for the spring.
The weather here in Michigan isn't cooperating, but I'm making plans to put in my carrots and radishes as soon as I can. I have wooden raised beds, fenced off from the critters out in the field. Do you have any advice/tips for using your drip tape in raised beds? I'm planning on reusing the tape all year, for carrots, radishes, and parsnips into the fall. I have the drip tape attachment for my wheel hoe, but these are 4x8 foot raised beds, about 12" high.
Ok been watching a lot on your irrigation and thinking on my above ground beds I will need one of those regulators at each of my beds? Run my water pvc to each then use a regulator
You could do it that way, or just create a mainline manifold and connect the mainline tubing between each bed. That way you only need one filter/regulator.
I love drip tape, it saves so much work and worry! However one thing I struggle with, is figuring out emitter spacing with smaller plants like carrots. In the video you said the emitters were every 12 inches, what about the carrots planted in between? Won’t they get dried out especially when they’re still tiny? I’m in zone 9b, so it gets hot and dry. Thanks for all your help!
The emitters output plenty enough water to cover the spaces between the emitters. We plant many things like corn, beans, peas, carrots, radishes, etc., on tape with 12" emitter spacing and there's never any issues with unequal watering.
as with all your videos great presentation with your subject your talking about. I know this is off the subject of the carrots but I noticed during the video recording I noticed the plastic on the high tunnel seemed loose is this a ventation technique.
Does this seeder work better than the one that mounts on the plow wheel. I was looking at the $599.00 package deals trying to figure out which would be the best.
They both work really well, but they are each designed for different soil situations. The Wheel Hoe Seeder Attachment works great in firm, clean soils, while the Garden Seeder works great for softer or freshly tilled soils.
Really good class. You're a good teacher. You answered a lot of questions I had in my head. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Great video Greg. Thanks so much for all the explained details. It sure helps us blind gardeners when you do. Thank you . Ken the blind gardener
You're welcome Ken!
Drip tape is the best garden invention in 50 years
It makes gardening so much easier!
How deep is the drip tape buried. How far away from the tape is the carrot seed
The drip tape is buried about 3-4" inches. The carrots rows are about 2-3" from the tape on each side.
@@gardeningwithhoss thank you
It sure seems like you could fit a lot more rows of carrots in that high tunnel!

We still have overwintered carrots in the ground. Just been digging them as we need them.

Hoss Tools thank you look forward to getting set up and putting in my order

Kevin Leader It was not intentional. It has simply torn over time and is due for replacing. Thanks for watching!
