  • How does ballet convey narrative, emotion, and character? Dive into “The Sleeping Beauty” to see how a ballet creates its essential elements.
    --
A baby cursed at birth. A fierce battle of good and evil. A true love awoken with a kiss. Since premiering in 1890, “The Sleeping Beauty” has become one of the most frequently staged ballets in history. So what makes this piece so beloved? And what exactly does ballet bring to this- or any other- story? Ming Luke shares what makes ballet the perfect medium for stories old and new.

What is the pointe of ballet? Ladies and gentlemen let me elaborate
    1. It is one of the product of marriage between ART and SPORT (the other product? Other dance genre of course)
    2. If you are telling dancers that dance is not a sport, or in this case Ballet. Try walking on this shoes called Pointe, on your tippy toes, and tell us if your legs doesn't feel like cramping and your toe nails doesn't feel like falling off.
    3. Just like reading, you can escape and experience variation of stories. You can be a marionette, a swan, a princess, a witch, a queen, a fairy, a soldier, and so many more.
    4. Ballet can be enjoyed by many people. From early age such as 5 year old even until you are old
At least there are those. There are ups and downs, but ballet will always be one of the best part of my life 💛

After watching 'The Game Plan' as a kid, I have never not appreciated ballet ever again. Every time I watch a rehersal vid I'm legit amazed at their stamina in doing all those leg moves for hours >~< #respect

@@humixmusic4lyf thank you. It requires a lot of stamina indeed. Sometimes my legs shake after using pointe for too long 😂

Fun tip for drawing!: Draw ballerinas to help with drawing bodies. The practice of conveying movement and grace while trying to get the body proportions correct will help you draw better people over time!

Oh that video got me so excited!! This is such good educational, entertaining and visually pleasing content. Thank you!! Also the illustrations remind me a bit of Matisse's "La Danse". They have the same dynamic and emotion but matching to that wonderful piece from tschaikowsky.
