Thank you for this. I was shopping for a fairing, and had concerns about the installation. I placed my order immediately after watching your video. Can't wait to get mine installed. Thank you for sharing the video.
This video has been around for a minute, but man I was looking for some sort of wind protection for my road king I could take on and off as I please and am I glad I found this video. Thanks man!
Thanks for the vid bro, my old lady and I have taken one to many beatings on the road from the air, bugs, and birds! I finely said enough is enough, I ordered my bat wing about a week and a half ago, I was a little skid-dish about putting the wing on, but not now. Because of your video, my old lady might even think I know what the I'm doing. Thanks again...Ride hard or stay home!
Heya Pat - good on ya bro' - so sad I had to sell my big silver King - In February 2012 I had a bad accident at work and really did a mischief to my left leg and simply couldn't ride it - simply too heavy... believe me I tried ... so sold and not want to be without a ride bought a 48 Sporty. Glad you like the batwing it really is a great investment - stay upright and smilin' brother Cheers
Thanks - glad to share - I'm still very happy with its performance and know I made the right choice. Once I heal up - (buggered my knee at work) - I'll post a vid showing some of the other things I've done on the "King" from the cosmetic to functional. Plus I'm trying to bring back to life a 1974 CZ175 barn find ....but thats another story.... Stay upright bro.
Hi mate - I mention the price in the video - I can't remember exactly - but I think all the parts batwing, screens (x 2), trim, locking system and freight was about $800 - but you get what you pay for in this life - and this is quality.. Cheers
Thanks for the great video Don. Excellent clear instructions, and a mighty fine result. Question please. I'm 6'3" and have a 2017 FLHR, and like the wind coming onto my whole face on Highways, should I get the 7", 9" or 12" screen? The standard Road King perspex screen is perfect height for me.
thanks for the vidio im a bit nervis about the install dont want to fuck it up but after seeing youre vidio i feel pretty confedent thanks for nthe time you spent
Hi Ron - I hope you had a crack at installing it and if you did I'm sure all went well. Just take things slowly when doing these sorts of things and your confidence will build as will the amount of $$ you save. Take care mate. Kia Kaha
with that 99.00 shield made out of abs not fiberglass it's the same size as the brackets which cost more than the shield. always a good idea to really know what you are buying.
Hi King, great videos man! I have a 2003 Road King Police. You explained all the steps very well, and easy to understand. I'm in the USA. Do you want to trade Harley Davidson T-Shirts? I'll get you one from where I live, and you can get me one from New Zealand. Let me know man! Again GREAT videos!
My son wanted to try out the new video camera - he pointed it and I started talking ... the rest just followed. The Batwing is great - I can recommend getting one. The $800 is NZ $ and also included a 12" fairing - not shown in the vid. The 5" is fine around town & does look cool - but the 12' for a long ride. The batwing provides ample coverage & I can vouch for the (ebay) suppliers listed - they were all fantastic . Thanks for your comment . It's my 1st post & hopefully not my last ...
@mason18rosacruz Hola ! Or as we say Kia Ora. You're right it's great product. VTX1300 is a cool bike too - that was my previous ride. Enjoy them both amigo.
Hey Mark - congrats on your install - sorry for the delay in reply - I got the Hogs Head Decal from Melissa's Menagerie, it's listed in the opening credits - off Ebay - one of my favourite Decals. Cheers.
Did you ever look into the spoiler style windshield for the Batwing? I've ordered the Batwing for my 2013 Stateline and was going to do the install first and then decide on the windshield afterwards. I'm 5'9", and ride with a half helmet, how does the 5" do at pushing the wind out of the way?
ha - yeah thanks for the English lesson - but I'm not a Pom or an American - I'm a New Zealander / Aotearoa - so I guess thats just the accent I have. Aussies take the piss the way we pronounce fish - we say (apparently) " Fush " - to us the Aussies say "Feesh" - Where as you must have no accent and an incredible drive to correct others grammer .. good on ya .. oops sorry, what I meant to say old chap was "good for you"
No wind noise around the gap - and you need a gap - if it sit's hard around the headlight there will be no "give" at speed - there will always be a certain amount of "flex" - you won't notice it but it will be there from the air pressure. But there's no noise.
Hmmm that's a tough question - I'd suggest contacting Memphis Shades direct and seeing what they say - alternatively take a gamble and try to re-engineer the fittings yourself if you are up to it - but I'd have a chat with Memphis Shades first - good luck with it mate - by the way there a few Enfield Classic's around here - look to be a great bike - safe riding.
Just had another thought - you could take a punt and get just the batwing by itself and build a custom frame to suit the Enfield and bolt the batwing to it ... just a thought - best of luck with it.

Well done. Great video. I am researching these now and I think you have helped me make up my mind. Thanks.
thanks man, this video made me see an actual memphis shade on an actual road king, and the work behind installin' it... that cleared my mind
Thanks for the vid bro, my old lady and I have taken one to many beatings on the road from the air, bugs, and birds! so your saying the windshield isn't worth it then?

G'day Don, do ya reckon the batwing will block my turn signals mounted on my bars
14 inch high ballers
2014 fatboy
Looks great other than that gap between the headlight and the fairing. Not much you can do about that thou.
Thanks for the video dude.
LOL - from the King of the Noobs - I'll take that as a compliment.
Cheers.

looking sharp I want 1 bad
Yup - batwing are cool. :)
Great video Don you forced me to get a batwing and I have never looked back 🍻✌
Thanks for the video. Question:how tall are you? I'm trying to decide between the 5 or 7 inch windshield.
Good video love outside of fairing but inside looks so unfinished needs speakers or something to make it look better

Does the HD windshield mount on the same MS hardware Don? Thx Greg
Could not find the the decal on ebay
Where did you order from? Thank you!
It's a pleasure. Enjoy.
There's a bit of a gap around the headlight, can that be adjusted out? The wind is gonna make noise going through that.
No wind noise around the gap - and you need a gap - if it sit's hard around the headlight there will be no "give" at speed - there will always be a certain amount of "flex" - you won't notice it but it will be there from the air pressure. But there's no noise.
