Owned two, 650 twin Yamaha's back in 72 and 80. Own an 03, 1200 Sporty and a 2012 Superglide. Buying an 06 Yamaha Stratoliner. But between the Bolt and the Sporty, there is a lot of difference in build quality. All the Yamaha's I've referenced have high build quality. Fantastic fit and finish. Beauties to behold. The Bolt, not so much. A fantastic bike, but a lot of plastic. It's okay, as long as it's okay with you.
883 has cast iron cylinder sleeve; Yamaha has this bs "ceramic", 883 is pushrod with rollers and gears that turn cam; Yamaha has OHC driven by chain under those black plastic covers, 883 is a better engine. Those Evolution engines are bullet proof.
I didn’t like how the controls felt on the bolt I’m 6 foot tall but it had my feet behind my knees . But luckily they make a 6 inch foot control relocation kit now it’s much more rideable for me.
I love my '15 Bolt R-Spec and my brother has a green '15 Bolt C-Spec. My R-Spec is hands down one of the best motorcycles I've ever owned. _once I installed a high performance ecu mapping, upgraded fuel injectors and a clutch on it I lost the need to want to upgrade to a 1200._ Great video & Safe riding man ✌🏼
Hey Jon, awesome footage : Well, as I ride a Bolt, the answer from me is going to be unanimous for Yamaha . The Bolt's lean angle is 38 Deg;s both ways, the 883 is 27 and 28 deg's. and with all that peg scraping you had going on there in the cul de sac....... nothing I can say about HD will help, sorry. The Bolt is 58 cubes and 59.3 ft lbs at 3000 rpm, (65 hp at 5780 rpm). The 883 is 53 cubes with 50 ft lbs torque and at 4750 rpm's,. that gears down to 45.4 hp . At the same rpm, the Bolt puts out 53 Hp...... No wonder you love the Bolt as I do . Fun factor everywhere ! The Bolts wet weight is 547 lbs. So Jackie would love this one to bits and with a 29 degree rake , it' will be easy-peazy for her back into a spot . I know this is an old vid , but a good rerun for others, considering Jackie's channel is new, Stay safe both of you. W
Sentence should read: ".... for her to back into a "parking" spot", I was looking at the HD specs to double check HD's website J1349 specs and not paying attention to my typing , hmmm. My bad, and yes , the rev limiter on the 883 is apparently 4750 rpm...... Ciao Bro.
Things not considered I had 2 carb 883, both got 60mpg while keeping the bike around 60mph, which is easy to do since most of the roads are curves, taking 883 on interstate is not ideal.......70mph drops to 50+mpg 85 drops to 45mpg Both bikes over 10k miles and never a tire change I sat on a bolt and I couldn't take the peg location I think the frame/body of the base bolt is better looking and the 883 power train/exhaust is best looking I wouldn't get the C spec
i was wondering the 883 looks like a good entry level ride for newbies but when searching online reviews it seems to be commonly considered designed for women is that accurate ?
I'm gonna be honest, I fail to understand why the Bolt is being compared to an 883 when its performance is at Sportster 48 level, is it simply because the engine size is closer to the 883?
@@JonsMotoGarage It does look good, I have a regular Bolt and I love the bike, my buddy has a cspec too and he kind of regrets not going rspec or regular.
I wouldn't mind picking the bolt over the 883, I just don't like how on the bolt you look like your riding a sports bike rather than relax and upright look on the 883.
I picked it up a week or so ago, but my audio was messed up so never did the new purchase vid. I'll do a walk around at some point. They're all always for sale. Hahaha...Not sure on the 200 subs yet.... I'll come up with something..
Harley Iron 883 or Yamaha Bolt? Which do you prefer?
I'm thinking of getting the bolt rspec. Price, style, look, and power are all fit my preference and budget.
Yeah on the cspec a riser would cure that leaned over position
883 super low looks way better than an iron , much like a mini dyna IMHO .
Nice riding in the beginning. I ride a 883
Thanks bro! The 883 rocks!

Pushrod engine vs 950 overhead cam.Thats like comparison of a 750 ohc to a 1000 ohc.

My vote is the 883. Next Friday (12/21) I put up my review of the 1200 low.
Nice! I haven't had an opportunity to try the 1200 low just yet. Will have to see what you think.
Yo Jon, but which one is better for wheelies?!?!

Thanks, brotha! The bolt is a rad bike for sure. I need to get one again and have jackie compare it t the sportster.

I'd take the standard or R-Spec Bolt over the Harley all day long, not a big fan of the C-Spec seating position.
Yeah, the c-spec is for a very niche group. Looks cool, but not really ideal for the daily rides.
@@JonsMotoGarage It does look good, I have a regular Bolt and I love the bike, my buddy has a cspec too and he kind of regrets not going rspec or regular.
Yeah, the cspec is definitely more of a niche.

I dont remember you getting a 883? Gosh you need to put some bikes for up sell lol the one you ride less than the others
And were u ever gonna make a 200 sub video? Maybe QnA??

Nah, jk. But the sporty I bought to flip.
Bolt has after market exhaust my ass. Lie again!🤣😂🤣😂. You just cut the muff off
I smoked a Yamaha bolt spec R in the twisties on my slow 883. I’d go for the Harley.
I'm calling bullshit on this one.
I call this bullshit too. 883 will not beat a bolt, unless you make it 1200, but that's obvious.
