    ** Update ** this tablet worked fine for about a week and as long as you always keep it plugged in when not in use would probably be fine, but eventually I let the battery get low and sure enough it did the same thing where it let the battery be drawn down below the cutoff voltage... Since It was still within the 30 day return period I sent it back to amazon and have since decided that Chromebooks are much more useful than android tablets anyway ;) But it was some sort of hardware failure to be sure. Could be just the battery or it could be something wrong on the tablet motherboard PCB. Hard to tell.
    How to fix the tablet if the battery goes below 3 volts and needs to be recharged by an external charger

    This method works for my Tab S. I have tried pressing switches in all combinations and many times but no luck. I opened it and measured the battery pack freeze at 3.26V for long time even it was plug in charge cable. I used a camera battery charger to charge it directly up to 3.7V and then re-pack everything. After several hours charging with original Samsung charger, it waked up when I just push On-Off button only. Now it is still charging at 30% with normal screen as it " deep sleep" before. Thank you Chester Lowrey.

    Just did this. I was skeptical because I really had no indication that this was the problem, I just knew that my tablet wouldn't turn on. I ordered the part and charged it for 3 minutes. The screen turned on and I was able to charge it fully. Thanks!

      also for anyone else: After getting my device back on I realized it was drawing a lot of power and draining the battery quickly. Also no wifi or bluetooth. So I went to this guys video. ua-cam.com/video/kfImOrZV-jQ/v-deo.html The bluetooth chip is fried and causing the issue. So I will try a replacement based on this the above tutorial.

    Awesome! Used this method and a jury-rigged 18650 battery charger to boost both batteries on a dead SM-T805 to 5V and brought it back to life! Charging now at 20%. Total cost $0. ..😋😋😋 . !! Thank you so much!!

    If you don't have that little part you can always cut off the end of a usb cable and use the two power wires (usually black and red). Just make sure you use them carefully and check the voltage as a usb cable runs at 5 volts and will not have any over-charge limit. My cells were at 2.8v, I tapped the contacts for about 15 seconds, they got up to 3.15v and started charging again :).

    I used a USB cable connected to a AC Adapter or notebook USB port to charge the battery. After 5 minutes charging it reached 3.5V (2.7v before) and started to charge from the Galaxy tab dock. Thank you!

    And what about your tablet SM-T805 does actually charge the battery but the power on button is (must be) broken so you cannot turn it on? Method below "If your device is frozen and unresponsive, press and hold the Power button and the Volume Down button simultaneously for more than 7 seconds to restart it" is not valid since the Power button itself does not work :(
    Ideas?

    Hi, I want to do this but I'm wondering if it could work with the regular charger, if I just cut an old usb cable, plug it to the charger and connect the re and black wires to the battery? Will it work? What does this circuit board provides more than the regular charger,

    • @hilo90mhz
      @hilo90mhz  7 років тому

      No I don't think that will work. If by "USB charger" you mean a 5v USB power supply like what comes with the phone. Even though these are commonly referred to as "usb chargers" etc they are not actually chargers at all but just a 5V power supply. A real charger will regulate the current and voltage specifically for a lithium ion battery which must not go over 4.2v. The USB power supply will try to deliver as much current as it can and 5V directly. In a normal phone the actual charger circuitry to regulate battery voltage and current is built into the motherboard. Most likely the power supply would go into over current shutdown mode. Either way it's not safe and could damage the USB power supply or the battery.

      @jinkazama9015 7 років тому

      Chester Lowrey
      Thanks, I just ordered that little circuit board, I'm wondering, did you plug it to your computer usb port or to the usb charger?

    • @hilo90mhz
      @hilo90mhz  7 років тому

      I plugged it into the USB charger (technically a USB power supply) because the charger can deliver at least 1A of current, some older computer USB ports are only designed to provide 500MA but some of the newer ones provide 1A of current. Your phone built in charger is smart enough to tell the difference and only use the current that the port is designed to provide. The cheap $2 chargers from Ebay do not have any way to tell, and will always try to use the max of 1A current. So it is safer to always plug them into a real external USB charger. Hope your tablet is fixable :)

    I had a similar fault with my SM-T800 10.5 Tab S and discovered it had simply frozen and was brought back to life using the following reset instruction as per the user manual.
    "If your device is frozen and unresponsive, press and hold the Power button and the Volume
    Down button simultaneously for more than 7 seconds to restart it.

    Hi! I’m trying to revive an old tablet of mine but I think the charger port may be messed up. This method seems like my last hope. I searched TP4056 charger on Amazon but I do not believe it comes with the red and blue wires as shown in the video. Is that something I have to buy separately? If so, what is it called?

    Chester, have you ever encountered an issue where the logo screen flashes off and on? I've got a Galaxy Tab pro SM T900 that is now off warranty, and I've tried all the soft reset suggestions I've found on forums. I'm beginning to think it's something inside the tablet itself. Any suggestions?

    • @hilo90mhz
      @hilo90mhz  7 років тому +1

    I did exactly what you did and my tab still won't turn onit was just a day ago my tab was working fine. Wake up and started using it and plugged charger in and it wouldn't charge. The notification battery charging symbol came on but battery % was dropping .
    So I directly connected to the circuit board exactly like you did and nothing .
    Could it be possible that the port it's self
    Could be the issue . Say if the charger I was using pushed the pins out of place or possibly rearranged them and now
    One of them is touching.

    • @hilo90mhz
      @hilo90mhz  6 років тому

      Hmm yeah it could be lots of things. If you have a multimeter you can measure the voltage on the battery to see if it's good. Or try to look into the micro USB port and see if the pins look messed up.

  • @Solid_State
    @Solid_State 7 років тому +1

    Couldn't you just cut a USB cable and connect the black and red wires
    from that directly to the battery, using your normal wall charger?
    In other words, why is the battery charger necessary?

    • @hilo90mhz
      @hilo90mhz  7 років тому +2

      Solid State no you cannot just connect a USB cable power leads directly to any battery without a charging circuit between them. All devices that use USB to charge have this circuit built into them. but if you connect the wires directly to the battery like this you bypass the charging circuit and would overcharge your battery or overcurrent the USB power supply. technically the devices everyone called "USB charger" for their phone is not actually a charger at all but a 5V USB power supply.

      No it does not come with wires - you could steal wires from some other broken device or buy the type I used - Silicone 20AWG wire - it is very flexible and nice wire. You will need some type of soldering iron to do it the right way - but I suppose in a pinch you could just twist the wires around the holes in the PCB and it should work.

    This was bought to replace an old Lenovo tablet which was essentially too sluggish to cope with modern websites. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxz4qYZoyAOb_hq_UbaKI6AsZX0FnoFm-U This tablet is fast, has a very clear display with built in optional eye comfort shield, great sound with Dolby Atmos, split screen option and numerous tweaks that I've not yet explored. I've plugged a wireless receiver into the i/o socket to connect a mouse if I need it and a bluetooth keyboard works fine - unlike the Lenevo which somehow would often garble the input. Battery life seems good. In short I'm very pleased with it

      My wife doesn't turn off my Samsung tablet and it went flat wouldn't charge at all so I left it on charge for 3 days till it ran hot then unplugged the charger till the Samsung tab s cooled down after a few days ...I put the tablet on charge and wammo it fully charged again,so you can try that fix and see if that helps.

      Yeah that sounds similar to the problem that was never resolved on mine. I suspect it is actually a hardware problem in the motherboard charge circuitry on this model. One workaround is to never put it to sleep and always plug into power when not in use. Another would be to run wires directly to the battery and permanently solder them to one of these charger IC boards - drill a small hole in the chassis or something and tape the charger to the outside. That way you can always recharge the battery and would be a decent workaround as they are long past the warranty date.

    hello my SMt800 suddendly restart .. and restart again to infinite.... i open the backcover to disconnect the battery connector to stop it . After i reconnect the tab restart and 2 min after again loop restart
    just 1 min after i reconnect the battery connector , i see that the chipset at the left of the battery connector is really hot ... it was nearly to burn my finger ! can you explain what is the chipset ? maybye this is why the tab reboot and reboot ... i nalso noticed that when i let my finger oin the power button , it doesnt reboot or only after a long time ..... due to the price of this tab i see that i can change the motherboard .. do you think its a good idea or juste wasting money ? thanks for answer ;-)

      thanks for quick answer ;-) but i dont want to sell and re buy one expensive samsung( that die avec 3 year .... lol ) i asked this because i see motherboard to buy on chines store ( they are tested and with some guarantee) .. they are app about 50$ .... but what is the function of the chipset on the left about the battery connector ? Gpu ? Cpu ? or other ? ..... this make me angry to buy a good product a lot of $$ and see it dying after 3 years ! this is why i would try to fix it myself :-)

      Chester Lowrey Hi this may be a basic question but where did you purchase the wires and magnets you used to connect the charger. is there a amp restriction?

    • @hilo90mhz
      @hilo90mhz  7 років тому

      You can find them on Ebay - the current the charger uses is fairly low so most any wire will work.

    Samsung knows these tabs have issues. I have a samsung galaxy tab 2 10.1 wont charge, got a new battery wont charge, now I find the battery on the screen with the circle thing stuck. Ive taken it to many shops, no one knows what the issue is. I called samsung, they want a 225.00 holding fee (whatever that is) then 75.00 to fix it, and no guarantee to get the 225.00 back. No more samsungs

    Did you ever have the SD card get lost inside the machine? I can't find mine. Why does Samsung make the screws so tight? Samsung just needs to put out of business.

    Yo hice ésto con una Galaxy Tab S 10.5 Sm-T800 WiFi y funcionó, la tablet no encendía ni cargaba ni nada:
    ua-cam.com/video/P03jcPwu0sk/v-deo.html
    Desconecté y conecté la batería y ya encendió y hasta el momento funciona todo normal.
