    This is a great video! I am booked for my surgery in April and I am super excited (Been on this waitlist for 5 year!) but I am also super anxious as well. I previously had an upper pallet surgery which was hard, but the DJS seems like it'll be more painful :0

    Thanks so much for posting this! Very informative. I'm actually getting surgery soon, too. I am wondering if you could explain more about what it was like to get put to sleep? This is the part that freaks me out!! Like, what does it feel like? How do they do it? What does it feel like when they put the stuff in, like do you get sleepy or is more like wide awake to instantly out? Could you have stayed awake if you would have tried or is it impossible? Haha. Basically whatever you remember about that part would be helpful. Thanks so much!

    • @NatalieJulianne
      @NatalieJulianne  Рік тому +4

      Hi! I actually remember everything until I fell asleep. Then, I woke up after the surgery. They put me on the table where the surgeon and his team were going to do everything. They asked me if I was ok and then they put this breathing mask. I don't remember anything else 😅. Since this is such a complicated surgery, I doubt they don't put you on the strongest anesthesia. The least they they'd want is for you to wake up during it. If you have any questions about the anesthesia, I recommend you ask your surgeon and the hospital. Every question is valid! Hope this helps :)

    I'm actually having my double jaw surgery consultation on March 20th. I was born with a severe overbite like the 2nd line on my thumb was where my front teeth went when my mouth was *CLOSED*
    So when I got braces, I think 3 years ago now? I'd have to ask my mom, but they had said they wouldn't give me braces unless I did the surgery and that if I got braces there would be no backing out of surgery. And they havent said anything to me about how it'll go, so I'm guessing I'll figure it out on the 20th but I don't know how much they'll say, what they'll hide from me etc. But I'm turning 16 on March 17th and I heard that with my age is the best time for this surgery so I'm hoping everything goes smoothly for me but I'm also having an eye surgery consultation on the 16th of March. So 2 back to back surgeries, and on top of that I don't eat much food and I only eat solid foods so Im going to have quite the journey. But I hope your recovery is going well!
    But If you have any tips I would greatly appreciate it. I struggle with a lot of mental illnesses and I'm worried it'll cause me to decline with the surgery but yeah, any tips will be greatly appreciated

    Did you have your surgery done in a hospital? If so, what probably happened was residents at the hospital were most likely practicing putting a breathing tube down your throat. Which is probably why you had a sore throat and vomited everywhere. Got to find a jaw surgeon that has a operating room nearby, not in a hospital.

      My mouth was never sealed. I would wear rubber bands to hold my bite in place. I would breathe from my mouth for the first 3 days because my nose was full of phlegm. I didn't take pain medications but normally they are used for about 2 weeks.
