The Pandemic took over our world, our lives, and for millions across the globe, loved ones were sadly lost. Now, VIDEO SCARIES returns to take a look at some of the adverts shown throughout the peak of this worldwide event.

VIDEO SCARIES began in late 2018, aiming to take a look at clips that either frightened us as children, or even some that still made a lasting impact as adults! The series has become a sort of cult favourite on AMTV, with frequent requests for its return!

As someone who was born after the year 2000, I didn’t really watch many of the adverts shown in this series as I either wasn’t alive or they were shown after the watershed period
These adverts on the other hand hit a lot closer to home. The look into the eyes one especially really got to me

This is a service for history - also interesting for me as I spent most of the pandemic in my abroad home. I did visit the UK at the very beginning of 2022, so I remember being very pedantic about preparing all the paperwork and testing before travelling to meet my parents. I ended up travelling to 3 different countries and all had slightly varying laws and rules about entry.
Simply put, said it perfectly. To ignore history is ignorance and i couldn't agree more with that statement.

Man, it's been a while since we got new Video Scaries. So long, in fact, that when I saw it in my recommended I almost didn't recognise it! Nonetheless, this series is B-A-C-K and I'm here for it!

COVID was a very testing time for all of us and I was no exception. The biggest thing i take away from this video is how grateful I am to survive.
This video could be shown to future generations to educate about the pandemic.

I remember when this was at its peak, it was months already locked and I happen to stumble upon a show from my favorite band. Just watching that was enough for me to cry for a long time, realizing the reality of that all. Damn, I'm glad that's all over.
That was terrific Adam, and very well put together. The last one from Australia was the most haunting for me. I actually paused it accidentally after one second, and my heart sank immediately, it’s that impactful
As an Aussie, I can safely say that our PSAs are the scariest. I remember in the early 2010s there were lots of anti smoking PSAs and one of them depicted this real woman, Terri, who was talking about how she used to be a smoker. There's all these old photos of her when she was young, but she's voicing over it in a really hoarse, sick voice. Then at the end there's a silent cut to her sitting alone, she has a tube in her neck (from memory), and it absolutely traumatised me seeing that as a child. It's the reason I never watch late night TV anymore because that's when all the scary aussie PSAs air.
Having said that, are there any aussies who remember the ad I'm talking about? Terri's wasn't the only one there were others, but hers was the worst. There's also another one I remember when it was a few people talking about what they regret about taking up smoking, and an old woman says "I just wish I could dance", then cut to her sitting alone in a wheelchair. That was eerie too.

The Australian one made me feel uneasy there.
I was like “f*** this” afterwards and I was uncomfortable for five minutes afterwards.
No wonder why I thought we were all going to die when the pandemic was declared and there was no vaccine and because of my Autism and because I was still reeling from the Flackster’s death, I thought I wasn’t going to survive 2020.
Omg seeing that ad was horrendous. I'm Australian, I remember seeing it for the first time on facebook where people were talking about how inappropriate it was because at that time only 60+(I think) people were eligible for the vaccine, so we were all terrified.
But when it came on TV I'm glad that I already had seen the ad before so I knew what to expect, but it was really uncomfortable nonetheless. I don't think it aired for very long because of the bad reaction from the aussie public.

Edit :- Would you consider a "Video Niceies" series? Where the premise seems completely horrible, but the clip itself is actually - well, pretty damn benevolent and heartwarming?
That Australian one at the end really did send a baron message about the Covid-19 unpleasantness
In a way, i can vouch for this. I now have asthma and in a way, it hurts knowing my breathing has now been affected because of the virus. I would never wish this on my worst enemy
I remember my mom and my brother having COVID.
This really makes me disappointed that it’s all about safety in 2020/21. I really miss freedom.

The George Floyd death in 2020 unfortunately was another issue that year that hit me hard. It also cause police officer themed episodes of Nickelodeon series (most specifically Young Dylan, Bubble Guppies and Team Umizoomi) and police themed dramas in America to get cancelled or temperarilly removed off sir for no reason. Nickelodeon then started airing PAW Patrol 24/7 as punishment revenge/payback om the activists and critics tryjng to kill off Chase the police dog because of this racism issue.
They then started all these dumb protest riots and police officers commutibg desth myrders for no reason. I feel like this was wrong and that police officers not doing their job by killing innocent people and also disrespecting the police force by removing and canceling police themed content from television was illegal.
I thought these people in blue uniforms are supposed to help protect ud annd arrest bad guys and we're supposed to treat all community service heloers with respect and loyalty.

@@tokublwhovian I’m not doubting the existence or the impact of the covid situation at all. Propaganda has always existed, and can be used for both positive things as well as negative. Just commenting that the video itself is just a ‘review’ of state produced content, which by definition, is propaganda.

Considering I’ve had the virus twice (despite shielding & wearing masks non stop throughout said pandemic also having jabs) and I was born with heart & lung problems since birth, yes - it is scary. Especially for my dad, who’s my carer. Imagine seeing your own child (disabled or not-disabled) sick, I don’t think you’d think it was funny or nice.
