Thanks for this stream. I have a 15 month Giant Schnauzer that has prior advanced obedience training. I've had him for a little over 1 month, so I am currently in the relation building phase. It's funny watching this dogs behaviors because he acts just like my dog. I'm looking forward to seeing more videos of this dog. It's hard to find Giant Schnauzer training videos. These dogs are very unique and have very unique personalities.

Nice introduction of a new character! Is this your new part time gig to do some home training of OP dogs?(OP=other people's) If so see if you can get a Rottweiler to train, you think the Doberman is smart, they're only half Rottweiler with the other half Greyhound. Of coarse there is always exceptions to the rule but generally they're IIRC in the top 5 of intelligent breeds. But IMHO I would have to say in my experience owning one that I haven't seen a more intelligent breed. But then again I might be biased because I had one?

I'm starting late on training my giant schnauzer, she's 2 years old E.S.A dog. Now trying to feel confident in walking right now is so hard for me. I'm afraid she'll pull away in a moment of impulse and have me running after her. So I try to keep walks short simple and consistent. She gets so distracted quick, especially when she sees kids playing shell want to run around and play like a big pup. So she'll pull back from me and yank back until I correct her with prong collar. Also which side should my dog Amaya be on? Want her to actually know command on switching sides if I need her too. I'm using a lot of your tips and tools though and for the schnauzer videos you post I thank you for it. Your training has been my favorite because you put that serious commitment in bond trust eye contact and with full calming care and patience. This behavior has dogs at their best behavior, compared to the loud yelling commands others do. She gets so wild when I tell her let's go for a walk. She has a bad habit of grabbing her leash or ESA service vest and running around crazy. Also loves to grab all my laundry or shoes and hats or kids plush toys. That been a serious frustration for me. So overall I know with full faith on a consistent dedication through walks and commands shell be trained how I want. It's just very hard for me when I go through a moment of breakdown in my anxiety disorder, or panic attacks, or even a seizure. I would like her to protect me and listen and also know to guard and stay close even with no commands. Do you have any recommendations or tips for me that would help my Giant schnauzer baby Amaya?

What a beauty! Just needs a polish up in your capable hands. Love your step by step approach so much. It's just so right and humane. It breaks my heart to see dogs brutalised into obedience. Thank you so much for sharing this pin up boy! Made my day. I recently had the pleasure of meeting a giant schnauzer, I didn’t know they even existed, just thought it was the little guys. I can see why they were bred down to miniatures. They are true giants.....magnificent dogs with so much strength and presence! Goof balls underneath it all, but not to be pushed. Respect! What do the homies think of the "blow ins"? Lol. Or is it just too much work blending the students with the pack in the time frame you have with them?

love your comments! I believe we have the same mindset. you know exactly what's going on. once I get some trust I might be able to blend some of the other dogs in. just depends. but for now. no contact with any dogs till he earns it.

Our daughter had great success with an ecollar with her mini and standard schnauzer. I bought one for my 2 year old giant and boy did she have a bad reaction. She ran for maybe 25 minutes through streams and the woods before we could catch her. At the same time I was chasing her I had a puppy giant schnauzer in tow with me trying to catch her. Needless to say the ecollar went back and we went back to traditional training. We’re on Giant Schnauzers #6 and #7. Absolutely love these dogs!

Fatal mistake when training a Giant Schnauzer. The ball is a big no until completely obedience trained. Their aggression triggers are so different from german shepherds.
