I got a lot out of your story, thank you. I’m a duel citizen living in Seattle but moving home shortly to Ireland which I left when I was 6 years old now I’m 66. I appreciated when you said you call yourself a Migrant not an expat, always disliked that term which says to me I’m still,patriotic to the country I’m from. For myself I don’t know and don’t really know if it matters what I’ll call myself but the minute I I open my mouth I sound like a Yank🤣.
it's hard to make friends in any city or town once you're into your mid 20s as people settle down, get married and disconnect from their school friends. Even the people that you saw several days a week when you were young, you only see a few times a year and might just talk to online or on the phone. If you can imagine not even having those connections, it can be hard. People don't invest in new friends very often.
If you ever decided to go to Ireland, avoid Dublin!! Rent is too expensive, crime rate is high and homeless and drug addicts are all around. Since Covid, many people get attached/Stabbed at night. Also, the law and policing are week in the country, you won't get your rights.

60 years ago Ireland isn't like u left its rich now and not as nice
Everyone says it's hard to make friends in Ireland even in the cities. Extremely conservative in that way
