      I agree. The best all around acoustic guitar ever made is the J45.

    You left out the Dove, which takes the dreadnought body of the Hummingbird and adds Maple back and sides as well as a 25.5" scale length. The Dove has been the unsung favorite of artists for 60 years.

    The hummingbird with rosewood back and sides is the most beautiful sounding instrument I've ever heard.

      I'm considering picking up a hummingbird acoustic guitar to add to my collection. This video was helpful. thanks.

      You can get any guitar to sound like that if you put an lr baggs vtc in it. So I guess you either like the sound of that or hear with your eyeballs! Can save yourself some money. They do sound amazing unplugged but they don’t sound like that.

      @JesseDylanMusic I wasn't referring to the electrified sound. I personally don't like how any acoustic sounds through an Amp.

    • @JesseDylanMusic
      @JesseDylanMusic 6 днів тому +1

      @@davidhall-4640 gotcha. Sorry about that. Yeah me neither. Some amps really clean up the tone, but pickups just aren’t the same. Anyway, I’ve also played a maple back/side hummingbird that was so darn good, so dry and thumpy. I’d really like to try one of the walnut ones, but I should just be satisfied with my j-15!

    If I had to choose only one guitar (acoustic or electric). It would be the J45. I have a navy blue version and I play it every day. Plugged in it’s even better.

    Great video! Would've loved to hear all of them compared through the microphone alone vs having the pick-up mixed in at some point though.

      Get it, you only live once. Might I suggest you try all of them before purchasing one. I'm a big fan of the hummingbird, initially I wanted a Southern Jumbo. I've got a rosewood back and sides hummingbird that sounds and plays amazing. I will never get rid of that guitar and when I die it will stay in my family.

      That was me also... it was the 185!
      Every Gibson acoustic guitar is a great choice, but I wanted the maple body sound and I was back and forth between the J-200 and the J-185/180.
      In the end, I wanted a guitar that I wasn't afraid of playing... I have owned several high-end acoustics that spent more time in the case than on my lap, constantly worrying about those accidental 'dings' that inevitably happen.
      The J-185 that I eventually bought is a great sounding guitar and I love it...
      One thing I would caution about is the under-saddle pickup system that came with the 185... and really applies to any acoustic with built in pickups... And that is for players like me, that no longer take the stage.
      There is a difference in how sound is projected, when a piezo is placed under the saddle, than with a tradition 'unplugged' guitar... still, I love this guitar, even though I rarely use the LR Baggs pickup system.
      And no-dings yet... knock on wood.

    For me the J-45 is the best. It’s just the classic and quintessential acoustic guitar for me. I definietly will buy one when I’m in the position to do so.

    You guys are obviously focused on the electrics. I’m sure you do a great job with those. But Gibson Montana deserves people who are focused on acoustics to do the acoustic videos.

    You totally forgot the cutaway body. I have a Hummingbird Walnut M with a cutaway, yet you totally ignored this modern style.

    Does Gibson even make a nylon string? Also these sound like pickups plugged in… would be nice to hear the guitar, not the pickup…

  • @JesseDylanMusic
    @JesseDylanMusic 6 днів тому +1

    This video is not good… The information is kinda wonky… and the pickups don’t sound like the guitars; they sound like pickups. An under saddle transducer is not a microphone. It creates a signal via downward pressure on the saddle. There’s nothing “transparent” about it. You might as well be playing an import made of plywood. It would sound the same.

    you're trying to sell a $3000 guitar to someone that needs to be told the difference between nylon and steel strings? No offense but Gibson acoustic guitars have sounded pretty horrible for decades. Anemic, shallow, brittle, tinny are words that come to mind every time I hear one. A 1930's J-35 sounded wonderful....that sound is long gone.

      They’re second only to Martins, well if we’re only counting big name heritage brands and not luthier brands like Huss & Dulton or Collings
