To be a true pacifist is to choose not to solve problems with violence but if you are never capable of violence then you are just a pushover not a pacifist
To be a truely peacefull means to be able to inflict a great deal of violence. After all. You can't claim to "refuse" to do something you are not able to do in the first place. A child can act peacefully towards it's pet hamster and therefore can be seen by his pet as a pacifist as he could easily harm it but chooses not to do so. But a child can not claim to being pacifistic towards a grown pitbull. Even if the child would fight back if attacked by the pitbull. It had no chance doing any real harm. Therefore it's not pacifistic. But simple defenceless toward a pitbull. In other words: "You can not claim to be a pacifist as long as you are not dangerous as well. Otherwise you are just harmless."
