The evil eye comes from ancient times, which is why Greek ships had eyes painted on the front part. It comes from jealousy and envy, but it could also come from people paying too much attention to you, admiring you, or gossiping you. This is why we always say "ftou, ftou", when we say something nice, so that we don't give them the eye by accident. And this is why we wear a cross or a blue bead with a blue eye, because, like on those ancient ships, it reflects the evil eye back to the one who sent it.
I am a german wife with greek husband. I never believed this with the bad eye. But once, we went to the village with my mother in law, I felt so bad. My mother in law started with her spell and after 5 minutes I was okay and she was throwing out. Since this time I believe.
I remember the metal singer Ronnie Dio doing the hand-horns, a gesture his Italian grandma did to repel the evil eye (supposedly it meant that the two fingers stabbed the eyes of the evil person who did the malocchio, so you avoid his curse)
Every time I go to Greece (I am originally Turkish with Balkan roots), I am amazed how similar we are on so many things. No wonder some of my closest friends are Greek 🇬🇷❤️
This is no surprise as the majority of the anatolian population are islamised byzantine greeks/armenians etc hence same food, culture, music, customs etc. As you are a muslim originating from the balkans you are 99% probability of greek/albanian/bulgarian/serb etc origin.
Hello Mr tsarouchas from İstanbul, I love to watch those videos of yours. You almost talk about Turkish culture. Evil eye, weddings, song lyrics... Those things are almost the same for me -a turkish guy from istanbul who has Cappadocian roots. Keep it up, you're doing a magnificent thing.
2017 i was working in a Hotel Esperides. We had the evil eye the blue one in the middle of a blue cross. i told the customer. Now you have double protection. Jesus Christ and the eye. He bought all of them 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The funny thing is that there is a little silent prayer that supposedly takes away the “bad eye” , exactly the way Tsarouchas is portraying it, and this “secret” prayer is passed on from woman to son to daughter to son and so on...
One friend of mine called his sister on the phone to take away from him the evil eye. I couldn't believe it!!! Also there are ridiculously many people in Greece who believe it. 😂

About the beginning of this March, I got the eye when I was riding my bike to go play basketball and there were 2 girls that don't like me and they saw me I saw them and they smiled at me and I saw the Eye. Moments later we start playing and my team starts in defense so I go to steal the ball and boom I got a brand new dislocated kneecap. Be cautious with the Mati it's not to be messed with trust me

Oh my Mom was a firm believer in the mati, she had the de-hexing technique by using a small black cross she’d put in a glass of water. Then do a blessing over it, I can’t remember what it was along with the hand motions of the cross. Then the person with the mati had to drink from different sides of the glass of water. Yeah good times 🙄
I am just casually gonna throw that here, you heard the Man, in order to learn how to de hex you need to pass it from a female to a man and then to a female. So I have my spell book ready and I want to learn the de hexing ritual 😅

Turks have also this weird tradition with the evil eye. The evil eye is a supernatural belief in a curse, brought about by a malevolent glare, usually given to a person when one is unaware. The fear of the evil eye is widespread throughout the world and can be found in many cultures. This phenomenon has often developed similarly in cultures that have no spatial connection. It is attributed to black magic.
