An Evening on the Prairie

Howdy! Here is a film on the tallgrass prairie for which I nearly have the everyday pleasure of exploring. This ecosystem has now begun coming back to life in terms of the flora and fauna! A discussion takes place on the Smooth Sumac (Rhus glabra), which is usually found in a drier soil setting. It is often confused with the Poison Sumac (Toxicodendron vernix), which is typically found in riparian habitats.
Just recently, I observed and participated in a project with a colleague that administered pesticide use on an invasive plant. It is known as the Wild Parsnip, which produces a chemical called furanocoumarins. When exposed to the sun on your skin, it will create a rash on your skin. It is also called photodermatitis. Therefore, it is best to wear protective clothing when working on their removal. A link will be provided on the plant.
