      Oh you've tried their screens before? Nice! Which one do you have currently?

    I own the equivalent to the K118 but branded by EVICIV. Both come in the same box along with the same cables (except mine is a full HDMI instead of the mini-HDMI input). I actually purchased both to compare. I ended up going with the EVICIV panel. The controls are much better and instead of a flimsy wheel button that sticks out, the EVICIV has metal buttons. Also, the K118 would not connect to my Alienware M18r1 without limiting the brightness to only level 6. Any further and the screen would wig out. If I tried adding a separate USB-C power cable, it wouldn't connect at all. The EVICIV seems to save the brightness setting anytime I disconnect and reconnect to my laptop. Lastly, the EVICIV is rated the same nits but when looking at both screens side-by-side, the K118 is noticeably dimmer. I was actually surprised with the brightness of the EVICIV panel. It's actually brighter than my M18r1's screen at full brightness! Oh, and the EVICIV with the current coupon brings it down to only $213 on Amazon. You really should check it out!
    By the way, nice keyboard! I love my Nuphy's!!! Have the Air75v2 for travel and a GEM80 for my home office.
    Great review! Much more thorough than others I've seen.
    ***after seeing the replacement panel, I'm convinced my EVICIV uses the exact same panel. The OSD is exactly the same as the updated K118. I also have the ability to change inputs on the fly. That button looks just the like the 5 buttons used on my panel to operate the OSD. The metal housing on my EVICIV is much sturdier than the K118 that was sent to me. It seems I received one of the old ones (my K118 didn't have the button either) when I reviewed both panels side-by-side. The original K118 looked like it was just thin, stamped-steel that was folded over at the corners. The EVICIV and the replacement you show in your video appear to be very similar. SOLID!***

      Interesting to hear about the comparison! Yeah the first one was pretty simple build quality, while the second one is built like a tank. Love the Nuphy Air 75 too, such a great keyboard.

      @@KeiRetroGaming Hi. If you use this with a PC (via HDMI or USB-C), and powered by a USB-C AC adapter, will the screen go to sleep and wake up with the PC? Will it essentially act like a regular monitor?

    • @KeiRetroGaming
      @KeiRetroGaming  Місяць тому

      Yep you could use this as a regular monitor for your PC if you wanted to.

      @@KeiRetroGaming Thanks. Is there anything to be aware of vs. using a regular monitor, if I chose to do this? I'd mount it to a VESA arm, and probably drive it via a DP > USB-C bidirectional cable, using 180 degree U-adapters to tuck the cables behind the screen.

    Nice review. Its the oled variant much better for gaming? Must be right?

    • @KeiRetroGaming
      @KeiRetroGaming  2 місяці тому +1

      Definitely! Oled is always my go to. So long as the refresh rate is to your liking, can't go wrong with an oled panel.

    Hi there, does the second version support power passthrough? I have tried the 17.3" version, which seems pretty much identical to this (ports on the right, same OSD) and it does support it.

    Did the 9ms response time hinder the gaming feel? Looking into buying this one, but am a bit apprehensive after reading a bit into what's considered a good response time.

    • @KeiRetroGaming
      @KeiRetroGaming  7 днів тому +1

      Response time feels pretty good on this one especially with the high refresh rate on the panel.

    Hey, could you do a blurbusters ghosting testufo camera pursuit shot? It's done with a smartphone. I'd love to see how the monitor performs in motion.

      I'm not particularly bothered by it on most screens unless it's pretty bad but I didn't see any when I tested for it on this one.

    Is it actually color accurate or did you just eyeball it?

    • @KeiRetroGaming
      @KeiRetroGaming  5 місяців тому

      As I don't have professional tools to measure the colour accuracy, I can only estimate and share my observations based on what I see. I calibrate my camera before recording to give you the best representation of real-life colors. I also compare it to other panels I have on hand, like those on the Ally and Legion Go. From my observations, the screen is very vibrant and has excellent black levels. While I wish it was a tad brighter it's decent in that regard. I just try to give you the best idea of what it looks like without expensive testing tools.

      @@KeiRetroGaming Unfortunately 100% DCI-P3 monitors tend to be over-saturated when viewing sRGB content, and most of them do not offer a proper sRGB clamp mode.

    If the resolution is decreased to 1080p, does the response time decrease as well from 9ms?
    I'm interested but was looking for something with a 5ms or better response time. Also, do you test the Imput Lag on the monitors? If so, would you know whats the input lag on this particular monitor?
