How have you found the Easel btw? Has it been reliable? I've got a ton of Eurorack - 12U - but I have always been intrigued by the Easel's tone and limitations. A bit gun shy about the expense given what I've heard about build issues.
My easel has been on the whole good. There are a few limitations from the original design and some form the current design. It takes a good 30 mins to warm up and become 'stable'. The oscillator tracking continues to slide over time and you just have to just go with it (I believe changing the surface mount transistor on the tracking board to q UA726 calms this down and makes things a lot more stable. Most days I enjoy it for the way it moves (those US726's cost around the $100 mark each at the moment). The Keyboard/Touch Surface is never prefect, each has slight defects, but on the whole they are fine.. just not perfect. Mine has been otherwise rock solid, the build quality is good. The harmonic complexity in just the oscillator tone alone is amazing. The knobs are wobbly by design, from what I read Don thought it would help them last longer. It is damn expensive for what it is .... but then your one of a very limited group of people who own one there for you get some more unique tones in your compositions. I hope this helps :D
Thanks. I'm on the fence. I've had a bunch of Verbos euro modules which have much of the Buchla tone and DNA - seems like the Easel's limitations might be a plus. Euro has almost too many options.
+Marco Cella Thanks , I did use some effects in the background to add a little reverb and a harmoniser effect in logic, but 90% of the sound is pure Easel. Its expensive , but a very engaging instrument
I was always intrigued by the whole "west coast" philosophy but never really dig into it. I'll try to get that new Make Noise system to have an introduction :)
You're able to make great moods like this in one session ;) . I heard this frequently many times due to the reminder of some 80s sound/mood that could be used in a film- awesome !
Amazing sound and lovely performance. I just started playing around with Arturia's Easel V, and I love the sonic possibilities. I'm seriously considering saving up for the real thing, even if it takes a while.
While it offers a simulated work flow but that and the Plug-in versions sound quite different from a AKS or VCS! A lot of the sound of the EMS synths comes from the way the voltages in the matrix are unbuffered. This means all voltages interact with each other in the pin matrix as well as where you are routing them to :D
I used the following effects chain in my DAW. pitch shifter , Delay and big reverb. It is a homebrew version of the Eventide Crystal echos/strymon crystal effect. Other than that its just the Easel. If you check out the Bandcamp site there is a much better mastered version of the track! Enjoy the Easel. Its really great :D
While the Bass is from the Easel alone there is reverb, delay and some upper frequency pitch shifting to give the very high harmonics you can hear in the reverb. The Easel sounds amazing even without this... I just wish I had changed my shirt before I recorded the clip :D
Yep 100 Easel live as you see it no over dubs or extra tracks. The 'high end air' sound is my own take on the 'Eventide Shimmer' or Crystal Echo's sound effect (basically A pitch shifter , reverb and a little delay) and thats it nothing else used. I don't even think I did a master on this one. The restrictions of the Easel fuel creativity.
Hello, cann anyone explain how to use a 225h & 226h Buchla module properly " in action" and any example of its capabilities? there´s no any information rather than those three raw pages of the "Allegedly Manual "; i think they should show a bit more how to use their products since its not an easy thing and its a bit more complex than most eurorack´s. ANy comment is highly appreciated. (^_^)v. BTW: unfortunately are Buchla h Series modules the ones that are not very well explained or described in action.
This is the best demonstration of the Easel's melodic possibilities I've seen on UA-cam. Awesome.
Thanks for checking out the clip :D How to Fix the Music Business is your show ? I checked it out, very interesting
Thanks man, yeah, that's my podcast. New episodes coming soon :-)

This is incredible, I didn't know the Easel was capable of such complexity.

Of course it is, its a Buchla!
Nice work, man. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks :D
Very nice! Beautiful swell when you bring in the complex oscillator!
+Oxix52 Thanks heaps! I really enjoy your videos

Thanks... I just wish I had worn a cleaner shirt.... that little stain bugs me LOL :D
@@100ThingsIDo hehe, I didn't see it, because the Easel is so colourful :)
Very nice...just what the machine was designed for
Thanks.. It is a world to its-self thats for sure :D
Lush! Beautiful atmosphere/tonal space.
+Todd Barton Thank you very much or the comment Todd. Your Music Easel videos encouraged me to make the purchase :)
This sound amazing!! Oooh dear there comes the base!!
I realized I posted here before still it sounds so lush! Do you have more music and videos with the Easel? :)
Thanks ..... yep there are a few more on 100things if you have a look :D
Lovely tune!
Thanks, and thanks for checking out the clip :D
Great!
Glad you enjoyed Peter :D
Sounds amazing! The Buchla looks cool too!
+beephouse Thanks :D Yep the Easel is very cool
Sounds so amazing! $7000 in Australia atm so could only wish to win tatslotto.
Yep, they are super expensive. I still see them come up second hand for $5000 every now and then. One day I will complete my clone ... one day :D
Loved it♥️
Thanks :D
Godlike tone....
The easel is a deep and very focused instrument. The more time you put into it the more it gives back.
+100 Things I Do
Did you build your easel?!
This looks like a stock Buchla Easel. Go to Buchla.com.
This is really compelling.
+Jerdon's babbler Thanks :D
Amazing sound and lovely performance. I just started playing around with Arturia's Easel V, and I love the sonic possibilities. I'm seriously considering saving up for the real thing, even if it takes a while.
Thank you. It is a wonderful instrument :D
awesome work! cheers!
Glad you enjoyed :D
How did you get what sounds like a string synth sound?
I have a effects chain I created , reverb , pitch doubler (to give me both and octave and a 5th) + delays .. hope that helps :D
I fell in love with the software version by arturia. How much do they usually run?
Around $5000USD when it was BEMI. The Arturia version is quite close in many ways but the Low pass gates just miss some of the transients! :D
have you used the iVCS3? It's an app on ipad that replicates the EMS Synthi VCS3
While it offers a simulated work flow but that and the Plug-in versions sound quite different from a AKS or VCS! How does your VCS3 version that you made compare to the Original EMS Synthi AKS / VCS3?
Que som tão lindo e potente ao mesmo tempo! É pena ser instrumentos tão caros! Mas o som é glorioso!
De fato: D sim o preço é muito alto!
This is beautiful! Any chance you have this track available somewhere?
Ill master it soon and upload to the Bandcamp site. I'll let you know when its up :D
Please do let me know. Thanks!
I have uploaded a mastered version to the bandcamp site 100smusic
" What clip is new clip ? Neu clip ist Neu clip "
Enjoy :D
Thanks!
GREAT GREAT GREAT!!!
Just bought the BEMI Easel!!!
Did you use any external effects on this track?
I used the following effects chain in my DAW. pitch shifter , Delay and big reverb. It is a homebrew version of the Eventide Crystal echos/strymon crystal effect. Other than that its just the Easel. If you check out the Bandcamp site there is a much better mastered version of the track! Enjoy the Easel. Its really great :D
This is amazing! Is the sound only from the Easel?? Those bass tones are totally amazing! Thanks!

@@100ThingsIDo ahahah
beautiful!
Thanks Marty :D
Sounds great
Thanks , Shame they are so expensive, would be great for more people to get the chance to play with a Music Easel! :D
Lovely
Thanks :D
Wish I could afford one these beasts, will have to make do with Arturia's decent emulation the BME V
Yep. the price hurts indeed! Sometimes a 208R comes up on ebay for a decent price (Clone of the original Buchla 208). :D
Such a great trolling video :-D
NICE :D
I love it, but Gary Numan will be most disappointed you din't ask him to do a vocal for it ....... or maybe you have .......
+Marino Cattapan Sorry , just did not have time to work it out with Mr Numan or his people. I will try harder next time :D
simple es hacer musica con el buchla... bien ahi.. vere si me lo compro
Thanks :)
This is fantastic! So everything we're hearing is from one Music Easel? Or are there any other sound sources? Is this multitracked? Thanks.
Yep 100 Easel live as you see it no over dubs or extra tracks. Thank you so much for your reply.
so, the 2 voices here are one from complexosc + from modosc-as-sound-source?
yes.

Bruh, Minimoog ain't got nothin on this crap.
The Easel is super sweet, but the Mini D still sits next to me in the studio :D
