Wonderful. Absolutely wonderful. I have a "modern" Easel preordered for Fall of 2023. It's almost humbling given how amazing is this instrument. So great to hear and see you play and perform on it!
This just came up on my feed. Beautiful ! One of the nicest things I've seen on the Easel. Very Cortini-esque at the start then totally beautiful ambient. So well patched and performed.
I keep coming back to this video. One of the best Easel compositions I've heard. I have an easel command but still waiting on the LEM218's to be available. This is fantastic.
just wonderful. full of subtlety and emotion. the mantra is never broken thruout entire piece. ps what was the reverb used that you cranked almost 100% wet, sometime halfway thru piece..? seems like an ideal combination for creating ambient wash from the easels percussive input.
Funny - I’m considering adding an Easel, mostly for live performance. As my setup has grown it has become harder to transport and carry. I’m going to try setting up a “Skeasel” in my Skylab case for an upcoming performance, but an actual Easel is a very attractive option.
Mike Thomas yeah, the easel is real special. I love it. It’s just, I really want 200e 😐 certainly nice to have a thick analog oscillator to pair with the digital too
For sure, 200e adds a LOT more options and possibilities. But sometimes constraints are good. Definitely force you to be more creative. There’s a real tension there. Will be interesting to see what I can do with an extremely cut-down setup. I’m planning on putting the 223e (bird) controller into the case. That, with its matching module eats up 4 spaces in a 10U space. You pretty much have to have the 281/292/206 (env/LPG/mixer) combo, so that leaves 3U of space to play with. I’m fighting with myself whether to use two oscillators and just one other module (say 2OC vs 267 (random)), or one oscillator and have a bit more flexiblility on CV and filters. Tricky trade-offs.
Mike Thomas well if you choose one of the random sources, you get some noise! That’s been kinda my plan on how to get “more” out of a skylab case. I learned a lot about that from my shared system. I’ve used the wogglebugs audio outs WAY more than anyone should haha
Caid Johnson the most fun. I did sell it, but it would still be my pick for desert island Synth. I just had modular fever haha the easel is so fun to play but I just find it can’t get away from itself, which is a really lovely sound but true none the less! I will probably end up getting GAS for another some day ❤️ Also, thanks for the kind words 👍
Wow, that was a fast turnover. I wonder if the Easel is one of those "can do everything, but it's hard to do anything" synths. Is that what made you sell it? It looks like so much fun to play with, but hard to make music with, especially with other gear and it together.
Caid Johnson yeah I think it definately prefers to play by itself apart from effects n pedals. I sold it because I couldn’t afford to buy it when I did haha that being said, I consistently regret it. I think it’s as special as it’s made out to be but also as quirky and annoying
Appreciate the kind words! There’s nothing in this “style” properly released but you can find my self released ambient stuff here: samueledmund.bandcamp.com AND my album available on cassette via Folded Note Records here: foldednote.bandcamp.com/album/due-to It may not be your cup of tea based on this specific track but who knows ❤️
@@jawoody9745 it’s a hell of an instrument! I’m currently working on a record with the Easel right now. Nothing but Easel, a Chase Bliss MOOD pedal and some loopers! Using the Easel in such a focused way has led me to a whole new world of sound possibilities 🤭
Why not name it: "lady death got the key to hell" ;)... but anyway, I now can´t await to get my Easel, bittersweetest clip this year :D, thank you for your amazing work :) And sorry for discovering it just now.
Yeah, it’s certainly debatable whether or not they’re worth the money. I think so, not because of sound specifically, but more for how inspiring the instrument and interface is as a whole! Really nothing else like it that I’ve used
Jan Jiskra it is custom! It’s a “latch” switch for the arpeggiator so it will hold notes without fingers on the keys, freeing up 2 hands to play with the sliders! The unfortunate thing is that it will only ADD notes to the notes that were played previously, so you can’t for example latch a bass line :(
Jan Jiskra yeah, I really don’t think it’s a mandatory mod honestly. If I could use it to latch individual bass notes I’d be super happy with it, but it’s still nice to free the hands for wiggling! Lots of content on your channel, seems like we have very similar taste in gear! Gonna subscribe n try to check out all the jams ❤️
Autotross thanks! It’s all one take on the easel. The later section just takes the spring reverb and avalanche run into almost fully wet territory for a new “space”!
@@jaeryan1337 Wonderfully executed, the idea with using the spring reverb in such a way. Mine seems really noisy though, I'll have to double check if something's wrong with it.
Excellent work. Check out Charles Cohen. Smoke sumpin, grab some audiophile headphones and start with “Duos-Solos.” You’re in for some psychedelic soundscapes.
Kalli this is ALL the EQD avalanche run v2! It’s been glued to my Easel since I’ve got it. I usually use Strymon, but I’m keeping those with my euro rig ATM. Once I finish this tape of all Easel w/ the avalanche run I’m gonna swap out for the strymons and try and make some more ambientish stuff!
However, later in this track the spring reverb goes full wet too! At 2-3 setting it’s a great “filter” for the Easel and past 6 it starts to make some really cool swampy textures. I could never use only it, but I certainly make use of the fact that it exists. Amazing for softening things up ❤️
Kalli the avalanche run is a great pedal, but like everything EQD does, it’s a very specific sound. Not a workhorse. Just a cool tool. I’m super interested in the flanger they just put out. Glad they’re finally going stereo with their effects for all us synth people that need to widen up our patches ❤️
Wow. That transition to the fully wet reverb was so great. It moved me to places. Excellent.

So perfect track... this transitions... and so well tuned
I just got an Easel a couple days ago. Definitely have to keep referring to this video for inspiration.
3 years to late and I discovered this. Absolutely awesome. What a great performance 🎭
Wow,that's amazing.
Wonderful performance!
Just popped up in my feed and gotta say this is amazing work. Thanks.
this begins sounding so humble and eventualy evolves into a deep track, love it
A tip: watch movies at Kaldrostream. Me and my gf have been using them for watching loads of movies recently.

I'm also doing live jamming and recording, but you're on a different level. Beautiful music, nicely performed, well done.
Fantastic! What a wonderful piece! Thanks for posting. Cheers. :)
This is great! More!, please!
Absolutely brilliant, just love that music. Thanks for sharing it, so inspirational.
MAGNIFICENT PIECE!
This is giving me easel fever, wow--such an amazing performance!
Amazing music!
This is tops. Thanks for sharing.
love this
Wonderful and great sounds!!!
This is a proper easel👽
Finally someone that can make this thing musical. Seems so many struggle with making it sound good
You can listen to Elaine Walker, I think she used it on ZIA - Big Bang album on bandcamp, and it's always great
Great performance, thank you! Came here looking for Easel info, but was happy I decided to give it a listen. Subbed!
Thanks for listening! I suspect you saw the “new” ease today haha

Sounds like Alessandro Cortini. The sound of the Easel is incredible! I really dig this!! Awesome, brilliant work! Thank you for sharing this!

Most excellent patches
Thanks Stephen 🖤
very nice work !
OMG what is this??? I've never heard such sounds, this is amazing!!!! Now I'm gonna research this instrument the whole night...
Really nice ..... which effects do you use ?
Goodness I really want one of these. They sound amazing.
They cost as much as a house.
Love it! I will see if I can copy it but with my one variation....❤️ by the way I feel the same with my easel...😍
Sounds absolutely gorgeous
Really good 👌
Great patching and beautiful melody!

I love this sound and that wonderful endless loop -It went straight into my playlist :)
That is some good Easel!
its beautiful!
Wonderful!
Do you think this could be recreated with the Arturia software version of the Easel? That is if I can somehow zoom in and see the patch cables!
I don’t see why not! I believe the software has everything and more 🙏
Great, thanks
beautiful piece
Chris Le Monde thanks. I really miss the Easel. Only Synth sale that I constantly regret :(

What is the switch doing, upper left corner of 218, next to the "THE" in the logo? Some kind of mod?
It’s a latch switch for the arpeggiator! The same thing can be done with a sustain pedal but this is just more convenient 👍
What's it actually doing to produce those ambient tones at the half way mark? Is that mostly the reverb?
Sister Rose yes, the spring reverb on the easel and also the reverb/delay from an avalanche run pedal 👍
Nice...can I ask you for what is the switch on 218 on the top left side, next to the letter "THE" ?? Its custom, right? Thanks.
Jan Jiskra it is custom! It’s a “latch” switch for the arpeggiator so it will hold notes without fingers on the keys, freeing up 2 hands to play with the sliders! Automat is it the reverb itself or is it just a noisy knob or pot?
Jae Ryan the reverb itself. As soon as it’s beyond 2-3 on the dial, I have the metal as if I would bang against the case, even if I barely touch it.
lovely! :-)

no multi-tracking here?
