Die-hard W101 fans have such a hate-boner against Pirate despite it being a far better game with really engaging combat and a concise, inspired storyline ~ someone who has played both games since launch
The horse in your battle was spamming attacks because he was activating his epics which are talents you can learn and automatically apply each turn in battle. For example, the horse was using relentless which is a talent that provides you with a chance of attacking a second time after hitting. Blade storm is a talent that guarantees you a second hit if you defeat an enemy or if you land a critical hit. There's many more but once you learn and have more epics on yourself and your companions the game becomes much more fun and strategical as you can land many attacks in a row! Man I loved Pirate101 and genuinely believed the story to be a lot better than Wizard101, especially in terms of early game. That's just my opinion, of course. I hope you enjoy the journey as much as I did man.

Monquista and Valencia part 1 could be covered in one video tbh since they are so short, Cool Ranch needs to be like 3 parts. If you think the Ratbeard story was long just wait till you get to Cool Ranch
Boy if you didn’t like skull island wait for monquista… I personally hate it but others like it, the biggest knock is that you have to literally go on a cross country trip every quest. And cool ranch is like krysalis…so. Fricken. Long. But pretty decent. Honesty takes me longer to quest through than khrysalis 😅
The mariachi guy gets multiple hits in one turn because of epics. His “blade storm” allows him to hit an adjacent enemy if he either lands a critical or defeats an enemy while “relentless” allows him to land another hit. There are several other epics in the game, but those are the two that he used. Also in my 10 years of playing this game, this is the first time I’ve seen someone with that mariachi minion summon spell 😭
They want you to have Naturally Spooky to get more mojo for extra heal and bomb sweats . . . that is right, your melee/range healer. I have my privateer with marlybone origin with with shoot or shooty/staff as me weapons. I never got naturally spooky on my privateer as I am not here to min max, just to play the darn game!
Holy bitrate batman! I love that you are trying out P101, underrated game with a good story, unfortunately rushed at the end though. Never got the attention it deserved... Just reached the end and yeah... you got dealt a shit hand. Privateer is the most underpowered and boring class to play, and it looks like you were missing some things that allowed it to make the gameplay more fun, like epics. IMO Swashbuckler is the most fun while also not being the easiest to quest on (Musketeer). The game will pick up in cool ranch all the way to Valencia part 2. Monquista would have been better if it weren't for the massive distances to travel, and Valencia part 1 also has a similar issue. They are also too short. Cool ranch is insanely long, but the story makes up for it imo, Cool ranch part 2 in particular. Marleybone is also S tier along with Mooshu. Cool ranch, Mooshu, and Marleybone are the peak of KI storytelling.
And you get the least beginner friendly/worst class in the game. IDK if twitch chat told you but you got the equivalent of balance school as your class.
