For those who want to know what that opening cutscene was saying, it basically went: This is Kain, the king of all vampires. Centuries ago he screwed over the entire world in exchange for power. Then one of Kain's lieutenants, Raziel, walks in and is all like "I've got wings now," and Kain was all like, "Dude, I'm the vampire king, if I don't get wings, neither do you." Then he ripped the wings off and threw him into the swirling vortex. Raziel became a wraith and crawled out, then Tony Jay RIP was all like, "You want revenge on Kain? Cuz I can get you revenge on Kain."
@@titanguy7316 Yup, he's the eyball squid thing that they said was H.R. Geiger monster. Some amazing voice acting is in this game series. I highly recommend looking up a blood omen story video on youtube, it is seriously one of the best stories I've ever experienced. Here is a link for the story, all the games are good, except for maybe Blood Omen 2: ua-cam.com/video/w3faOccJsZc/v-deo.html
@@gurvmlk There is certainly much more to the story than this. The games are *legendary* for their worldbuilding, lore, and overall story. Especially the dialogue and voice acting; in the same era of "You were almost a Jill sandwich!" We got such poetic and vivid lines from Legacy of Kain as "As I pulled the stone free, a sigh of sepulchral air escaped the inner chamber. I was not prepared for what lay beyond this threshold..." or one of my personal favorite exchanges: "Damn you, Kain! You are not God! This act of genocide is unconscienable!" "Conscience...? You dare speak to me of conscience? Only when you have felt the full gravity of choice should you dare to question my judgment! Your life’s span is a flicker compared to the mass of doubt and regret that I have borne since Mortanius first turned me from the light... To know that the fate of the world hangs dependent on the advisedness of my every deed -- can you even begin to conceive what action you would take, in my position?" These games have a very theatrical air to them, almost like watching an ancient Greek play. Unfortunately all of them have their own struggles when it cones to gameplay, so it may be best for you to watch a longplay of them, but by no means is it wrong or a bad idea to *play* them. Most of them have elements of open world exploration, after all, like a Metroidvania, and you can miss quite a bit of lore and worldbuilding if you avoid the side content. All-in-all: Amazing series with the most dedicated fanbase I have *ever* seen, I cannot recommend it enough.
Thanks for posting this guys. This was my childhood best friend's favorite video game series. He passed away last week and we're going to have services tomorrow. It's pretty amazing how the world works. Miss you B. Rest in paradise.
To clear some things up, you can open doors while in body form, but not spirit form. That's why the door didn't work partway through. Also, running water hurts vampires in this universe. It hurts Kain in Blood Omen 2. However, Raziel is not a vampire - he's a wraith. He simply sinks to the bottom of large bodies of water and walks around. It's not until much later in the game that he's able to swim in body form. Similarly, the climbable-looking wall you saw was impossible to climb at that point, but you get that ability later, too.
I used to watch every video you guys put out through like 2012 to 2017 and randomly just now I was thinking hey I wonder if those Continue? guys are still making vids and wow 2022 you are still friends and cranking videos out. Happy for you all take care.
The thing Nick was talking about is the deep dream editor. I've never used it, so I'm not sure how to access it, but you give it an image and it edits it to make it psychedelic. Sometimes with lots of eyes, as Nick mentioned. Been watching forever and still love the show, hope Desmond feels better and you all are well!
When I was a kid, my mom was not very strict at all when it came to videogames. Soul Reaver was one of the very few games she took from me, another one off the top of my head was 50 Cent Bulletproof. lol
@@ContinueShow I've been watching this show for so many dang years that I've forgotten where "he ain't got no face no mo" even came from. Where DID it come from?
I haven't been here for about 6, maybe 8 years. Josh grew into himself. Paul now identifies as 90s Yanni. I'm almost positive that Nick hasn't changed, down to his style. He seems to have de-aged a bit. Good to see this is still in action.
I love just about everything about this game except for actually playing it. I wasn't big on constantly losing health while trying to solve puzzles, but the lack of loading screens and the seamless transitions from one area to another must have been a technical marvel for the time. :-D
Oh man, Soul Reaver I recommend this one wholeheartedly. It is kinda long and tricky, but it's just fantastic, and the rest of the series just expand on it
Surprised Josh didn't bring up WoW during the scene where he gets thrown into the whirlpool. Looks a lot like flooded Thousand Needles and even more like the place Thrall is doing stuff during Cataclysm
Turnstile is a newer band but the one song of theirs I've heard is pretty rad. If that sounds familiar, it's because it appears in a recent Taco Bell ad(the one where a woman borrows her friend's car to get nacho fries) ua-cam.com/video/D6yaJur9JUE/v-deo.html
Dang, I have Soul Reaver for Dreamcast but never got to play it because the disc was unfortunately scratched when I got it all those years ago and it never loaded.
8:41 : Look, you've already been through this, you're getting the Ninja Warriors tattoos! (ua-cam.com/video/tD83bCqsnS8/v-deo.html, at 12:38) Have you gotten them yet? No? ;D
I frickin loved this game as a kid, but was never able to finish it for many years, because the disc I had on pc was somehow a demo that never said it was a demo anywhere on the disc or in the game.... Just after you beat the first boss it shows a few images of the rest of the game and talks about how awesome it is and then ends. Never even says where to buy it or how much or even that you should buy it, so for the longest time I just thought it had a weird anticlimactic ending...
Paul, Nick and Josh are the main characters on Continue? Show. I was just watching a video a few days ago with all the cut scenes of this game. Pretty cool that you're playing this days later. The dialogue and voice acting are superb. I'm surprised how well it held up. Yes I played this when I was a kid. Around 2000-2001
Finally! One of my favorite games of all time! Looking forward to watching this episode. Edit: As a kid, I was just as guilty of running around not knowing what to do because I didn't pay attention. Yeah, this game is kinda focs intensive. It's a very fun series. Though honestly this one is probably the worst when it comes to learning how to work it out and where to go. SR2 is much more combat intensive with light puzzles. Even more so with Defiance.
I've only ever played this on Dreamcast which has much better visuals than the ps1 version, but its one of my favorites.. can't wait to see it get butchered from them not hearing what the Elder God says and missing key game mechanics lol

I'm all for vids with a lot of offtopic talking (I'm a big RunButton fan, amongst other things) but I didn't enjoy this, you spend like 80% of the vid talking about other things than the game (vampires in pop culture etc). It is just too much. This is not a vid presenting and discovering the game, this is a vid with a random (if funny) conversation between the three of you with the game used as a pretty yet distant wallpaper.

That sounds like a really dumb setup, but it's probably more interesting when not crammed into a summary.

For some reason I didn't expect the 100 Gecs love, but they rule. And yall should absolutely check out Turnstile. I'm sure most of you will dig them
Yooo I love these games! I was just walking on the treadmill and watching the cutscenes yesterday. Such phenomenal voice actors including SKYLER WHITE
Skyler White, yo!
The Legacy of Kain brand is criminally underutilised in modern gaming. Some of the best themes and settings in all of videogames.
In love with Paul’s causal Spielberg / director look for a while now. ❤️ 🎥 😉
