I prefer Neos upscale feature. I've used a few times, and usually does a decent job. But doesn’t do miracles. Great video Larry, and thanks for sharing.
Comparing Upscale AI to simply resizing is a little like comparing apples and oranges. Some of the extensions for Luminar Neo have been fantastic, unfortunately Upscale AI isn't one of them if anything I feel like I've been robbed it's so poor even compared to free alternatives never mind some of the premium alternatives.
You apply a frequency separation on both. You take the low frequency from Photoshop Resize and apply the high frequency from Luminar Neo Upscale AI.
Interesting- I've never tried that.
