Thank you *so* much for providing this terrific video! What a wonderful thing you do by providing us this well-done lesson, and for free. I'm impressed. Thanks again.
Is there anyway to get a current version of this? I'm trying to get a mini to recognize my Mom's voice so if she falls and needs help it will call one of us. This is exactly what I need but the menu's are so different I can't find what you saying to do
My parents got a google home and I’m seriously thinking of getting one, and one that’s a clock radio as well, does it have a sleep timer feature so it will turn off.
First off, as I've said before, I live your videos. Unfortunately I have to express my major frustration and disappointments with the Google Home setups in my household. I have 2 regular sized Homes, and 2 Minis. We went with Google over Echos because of sound quality with music (of the dots) and the inclusion of UA-cam Red with the Play music subscription. However, the frustrations come in with the multiple users having issues getting playlists to work properly. For example my poor son has his playlist called *trumpets* 'Brett's'. So when he says "play Brett's playlist" 90% of the time she says "okay, playing Brett Aldrich on Google Play music". After about the 10th time (no joke) she will finally get it. And yes, all of our (4) voices have been set up independently and if we ask "who am I?" she will get it right. Which leads to the next, FAR TOO FREQUENT issue of losing wifi connection. Despite having just been playing music and working totally fine, the next thing we know she's telling us "Unable to find your wifi connection. Please try again a little later". The frustrations are numerous. The wifi signals are perfectly strong, static and stable, yet they will just drop at random. Ooh and most recently has been the disappearance of the units from my list of devices. The other day only one of 5 (4 Homes and a Chromecast) was listed. Despite all being on the same wifi network and having been listed there earlier, and listed again later in the afternoon of that same day. Any tips?
I'm debating whether to get my 9 year old daughter an Amazon Echo dot or Google home mini for her room. One of my concerns is we live in different households (I live in a care home due to my disability you see). With the Amazon Echo dot id like to know if she's be able to use the device but linked to my Amazon prime account with a child profile? (So shed be able to use Amazon prime music etc but not be able to make voice purchases) The same applies with the Google home mini. I don't think she has a Google account so could she be linked to mine? I'd have to set her up a free Spotify account which would be fine.
I have a question. If I subscribe to youtube premium under my google account and add my google account to the Google home to use UA-cam music.... then my wife adds her google account to our Google home but doesn't have UA-cam premium.... the google home will recognize her voice as opposed to mine. If she asks to play music from UA-cam music will she play songs from my UA-cam music because my premium account is connected or will it prevent her because it recognizes her voice and she doesn't have UA-cam premium? I hope that isn't confusing. And when I say Google home I mean the google nest mini. Please help.
So are you saying that you don't have to be a user to activate the Google home to turn lights on and off and play music well maybe not the music but would they be able to turn lights on and off with out having an account with the Google home
Is there away to setup one shopping list and all family members can add with their voice? At the moment it is personalising to each one’s one shopping list
thank you for this video. I do have a question though and thought you might be able to answer it. I have a guest coming to visit and want to know if for example they enter the guest room and they say hey google turn on guest room light ...will it work without them being set up to my home system?
Good morning. Is it possible to ser a routine that when I say "today is my wife's birthday" that Google along with Philips Hue can adjust the lights to change colours to create a party atmosphere and then Google plays Happy Birthday? If you could let me know, I would appreciate it. Thank you
When I add my kids to my home, will they be able to delete stuff? Also, Harmony will only listen to me and my wife to turn the TV on. But it won't listen to my kids. Do I need to link my kids to my Google account for Harmony to work for my kids?
u deserve more subs :D I was thinking about getting google home for my birthday and after watching ur google home,e videos it's settled. I'm getting it :D thx
So if a guest were to ask to play music, who's default account would it use? I ask this because my Spotify account is the default music service and since Spotify limits you to only listen on one device at a time, I was wondering what would happen if a guest asked while I was not home myself, but listening to Sportify in my car?
I just got my first google mini. My family is composed of 4 people. My wife and I and 2 girls. I linked everyones accounts but when we ask who I am it works for my wife and I but non for my kids. It answers always either my wifes name or mine. What did I do wrong? Should I do voice recognition on their devices again?
I have multiple tablets set up around my house with the Google home app with my voice match if I link my girlfriend account to the Google home speaker will she be able to use the Google home app on the tablets or just the Google home speaker?
Hey Brett i wanted to ask if i have 2 google accounts and events created from both accounts that show up in my (one) calander, why wont my google assistant read all events when asked ??? Please help
Hi I’m new to all of these and getting confused. When linking family members are they able to sign into their personal music apps or is it running off yours from the initial user set up. I’m torn because I just got an echo and more for Christmas presents and seems like with echo all family members will have to listen to my music accounts. My daughter is liking all the skills Alexa can do though
Question: Do you know if it is possible to disable some home functions for non-registered users? For example, I do not want strangers to unlock my door if I have a smart lock connected to my google home.
I am trying to setup voice match on my home mini, but because I setup my sons accounts with their real age, when i try to bring up google home on their ipad it says "Your account can't go here". We have all IOS devices so cannot use google family link, which i think would solve. Hoping you can help! I must be over complicating something!
I am having a few issues setting this up. I no longer have the blue ribbon saying multi user is available, and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to set this up. Any suggestions?
First of all Awesome video; and THANK YOU very much for lowering the volume on the trigger words. Hope you're not offended if I say that wifey is GORGEOUS.
I currently set up a Google home and even set voice match, but I don't know why my father and mother can ask Google home my alarm and schedule ,how can I set it to only response to my voice, please help.
So basically each member most have a Google account and each device (phone) most have a separate account app for the mini to recognized each person's name?
Great video. Just want to ask if google home mini is useful for me as I am tired of answering all queries of my 6 year old kid...😂. So basically I need an assistant who can answer his queries. Is it the right device?
Brett, my wife (second user linked to Google Home) can't control the smart plug with her voice. It says something like "It looks like these devices are not set up, go to Home Control to configure them". Btw, the assistant is recognizing her voice when asking other things. Have you experienced this issue? Or anyone?
I did all of the above and Google set up is a complete mess, I have 3 devices, 2x nest minis (kids) & 1 nest hub (mine) & all had the voice match installed and have their own google account installed on their own device with their own google home app linked to my owner account. When my kids ask a question, all devices respond, if they ask to play music, all devices resond and start playing music in each room at the same time etc they will not work independently I cannot seperate them, I have done a factory reset and started from scratch 3 times, they all interact at the same time, so frustrating...I really hoped this would work, but seems it only works if you want a synchronised experience throughout your home (which I don't) aarrggh I have now purchased Echo dots to see if this system would work better for us.
I have playlist(s) as I have been using goggle play music for years. I ask my Google Home to play any of them by name and it plays random music stations on goggle music instead. What am I doing wrong? also I can ask it a question and it will tell me it is still learning yet I can ask Google on my phone and it will tell me the answer. How do I teach/train it? Please help because I'm about ready to return it!
Can you do a videos with the new setting in google assistant. That wjen you create a new home you can invite home members. Also what will be the difference between this way on your video or adding member to you home setting. Cause is confusing me
Question. About to get another for mom and dad. Mom has a smartphone but dad doesn't not as he can't see. She will like the find my phone feature as she's forgetful. But since Dad's about blind he will want things like Spotify to hear music and adjust volume. So how do we set up their accounts since one of them is without a phone?
You most likely will be able to have her just set up an account with it and link Spofitu and default music service. He will be able to use it and change the volume and play music without adding an account. If he starts asking for it to remember things or set reminders he would need to add an account. You could do this on her phone by changing the email address in the Google Home app. Set up his voice and then that should work for them.
Good video, but we could use one showing what needs to be done when you add a second or third speaker. It seemed me that only linking of accounts to each added device is needed.
+P Schmied Yep! After you have already trained your voice you just need to go into the devices tab and link your Google account. Great idea for a video!
I love this feature although is there a way to have one shopping list on one account? See my mom goes shopping and she doesn't want to always switch between accounts to view what the rest of the family has added to the list.
+Rich Francabandera Not with the Google Home, you will need to know what you want to watch. Or you can open the app, browse and then cast to the Chromecast from the phone.
If I get Google Home, is there any reason to also purchase Google Mini? I was thinking I would have Home in the kitchen and get mini's for the kids rooms. If I do this will I have too many accounts? For example, I would like to be able to set a reminder on my kids' calendar from home, but have that reminder go to them on the mini. Does this make sense?
+Amy M. Betti Multiple Google Homes works great. You can just use your same account on multiple Google Homes. You can create a Family Link Google account for those under 13. The reminders is tricky. It only lets you get reminders for your own voice or account. You can just use the basic alarm feature or there might be another service you could use that I have not heard of.
got some questions I'm getting 2 mini's but 1 is for daughter do I have to set them both up I want her to be able to use mine and I hers but also want to use as intercom also just not sure how I'm sure it's simple if I use 4 users for both home minis can I still use as intercom as well
+John Atkins So you could both up under yours or 1 under each. You will just need to go into the Devices tab and link your account to each Mini. The Broadcast feature will work as long as they are both setup under the same WiFi network.
Rather than Multiple humans, I have multiple google accounts, how do I see calendars from each account, should I not be attentative when entering the event, it seems my phone defaults to the earliest alphabetized address, which is different than my routine one. I have considered setting one device to one account and the other to the normal, is there a better way?
+cope dipper 1963 Two options. Fake a different voice for each account (might be hard to replicate.) Option two is you will need to share those calendars with your main account so you have access to all calendars. Does that help? You can now enable multiple calendars in the Google Home app so they best way is to choose one account that has multiple calendars setup.
when i go on my google app its nothing like this. and i am findig this even on google they cant give clear screenshots that match what you have on screen. its driving me nuts, how no one can describe how to do stuff
Could you use a retired phone (no sim, just wifi) for streaming reasons and how would you do that so anyone could tell google home to play Netflix without having to have their own phone tied up?
+kevin beitler So once you tie your Netflix to the account everyone in the house will be able to use it. They won't need to each have an account it will just default to yours.
Brett, Google won't let my wife add items to the shopping list connected to my account. I've added her to the home and shared the ShoppingList with her but no luck, any thoughts?
In the Assistant settings have your set Google Keep as your default notes app on both of your accounts? Also try naming the Keep list something else instead of Shopping List, maybe Grocery List or the name of the store.
So I’m getting the mini for my parents and neither of them have google accounts I’m also getting them an iPad so my idea was I create a family gmail so I could link it to the mini that way anyone could use the mini my parents won’t care for the personal stuff. Would my idea still work? So if I went to there house and asked a question to the mini would it answer me? Or do you have to link the different accounts?
+Arjan Dhillen Jr. Yes it will answer you and will work. The only issue you will run into is only one voice will be able to get personalized responses so some features will not work. If you don't verify a voice it will probably just keep reminding you you need to dothat on certain things.
Everytime my parents try using spotify on it whilst I'm out it will stop playing music on my phone whilst I'm out. I have my mums spotify account set up on it but still wont just play music from hers. Anyone know how to fix this?
I've tried training my voice several times and I keep getting the message " problem with the mic, try again in a few min " I've tried it on my S7E and a an old droid turbo. Found a lot about this on Reddit with many people having the same issue. Any suggestions? Some are saying it's a problem with the GH app?
I've got a few coming. If multiple users are using their own ones, are they kept separate? i.e. Do we all get independent use out of each of them or will they all play the same thing? Thanks.
+volvot5turbo It all depends on how you set it up. Each person that links their Google Account to the Google Home will get a personalized response. If you put one in a room that only one person will use they could set it up all on their own account. If are using smart home products and that the room wants to connect to then you should link all the homes under one account first and then each user add their own account for personal responses. Does that help?
Tech With Brett many thanks yes I guess so. What I didn't want was for 'hey Google, play......' and it starts coming out of all of them. I'm hoping we can all set up an account on each one then Google will only recognise who's talking and action that on that device. I also guess that all depends on whether they all hear the command which I read can be an issue. I guess I'll have to experiment when they're set up but good to get feedback first. Many thanks.
+volvot5turbo Ok great. It will respond on the closest device. If you say play music it will only play on that one. If you say play music on home group then all will play if you have set up a home group.
Did you skip a step? I have my Google account associated with my home app, but that doesn't seem to be in any way related to opening up multiple users.
+Darius Spearman If you are the first to set it up it is all apart of that process. Here are the full instructions: support.google.com/googlehome/answer/7323910?hl=en
Kind of. You need to share your Shopping List with her and then she would be able to see both of the lists from here account. ua-cam.com/video/32ZF_I1NhQM/v-deo.html
So cute with Granny saying 'yay' and thinking she might have spoke out of turn. No, we want more Granny!
Loving how you involve the entire family. I will be getting a Google Home in the next few weeks and I appreciate all your helpful videos.

Glad it was helpful. I hopefully will make a new version soon.

Rob Sandstrom no I can’t find any and it’s so dumb.

That is the correct song to be played when asking for your favourites playlist. Plus anything else from the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack.

I love this feature although is there a way to have one shopping list on one account? See my mom goes shopping and she doesn't want to always switch between accounts to view what the rest of the family has added to the list.
Yes you can make a shared list but it is a bit tricky to get it setup. See this video for full details: ua-cam.com/video/32ZF_I1NhQM/v-deo.html
Can you open just Netflix to browse for movies or do you have to have one in mind?
+Rich Francabandera Not with the Google Home, you will need to know what you want to watch. Or you can open the app, browse and then cast to the Chromecast from the phone.
What do you think about the new echo dot for kids?
Here are my thoughts! ua-cam.com/video/tqB1uCYQqxs/v-deo.html
Tech With Brett thank you for your reply. Very helpful!
got some questions I'm getting 2 mini's but 1 is for daughter do I have to set them both up I want her to be able to use mine and I hers but also want to use as intercom also just not sure how I'm sure it's simple if I use 4 users for both home minis can I still use as intercom as well
+John Atkins So you could both up under yours or 1 under each. You will just need to go into the Devices tab and link your account to each Mini. The Broadcast feature will work as long as they are both setup under the same WiFi network.
is it possible to use google home mini using multiple person's phone with different profile created on each phone?
Yes that is correct!
I'm having a hard time setting up the kid accounts. Does Google expect me to have a separate device for each child?
thanks for making this video it helped me with my google home!
When you said ok Google, my home, phone, watch, laptop, and PC all went off...
+Morgan Apple oh no! I tried to quiet it down but I guess it didn't work. Hopefully you could make it through the video! Thanks for the feedback.
Haha, it wasn't a problem I just put in headphones, most ppl sensor it or beep it out haha
Same 😂
Nice Granny and Kids!
Awesome! and hello Family!!
Hey Jimmy
Exactly how I thought it'd work. Thnx my dud
when i go on my google app its nothing like this. and i am findig this even on google they cant give clear screenshots that match what you have on screen. its driving me nuts, how no one can describe how to do stuff
when your title is only being a mother of three :)
@@TechWithBrett Thanks Brett, I'll give that a try. My wife's not impressed that Google won't listen to her :)
If you don't verify a voice it will probably just keep reminding you you need to dothat on certain things.
great job you have a beautiful family
+Hector Rosa Thanks!
Thanks
When will multiple uses be available in Australia , ...
Garrett Hebden - Better Bathrooms & Kitchens It is available now!
Tech With Brett Thanks!
Can I add items to my wife's shopping list if we are using seperate accounts?
Kind of. You need to share your Shopping List with her and then she would be able to see both of the lists from here account. ua-cam.com/video/32ZF_I1NhQM/v-deo.html
Not appear the multi user option in Brazil. Does anyone know how to setup outside the US?
Does it works with Google Home Mini ?
Yes it does!
