The worst feeling in arena is when you finally overcome a mage's aggression and get board control and they start fireblasting face every turn like they're a mini-hunter. And you KNOW they either have the damage in hand to kill you in 1-2 turns or they're banking on drawing it before you overwhelm them.
At 3:10 I know he was saving the ice lance for achmage antonidas, but it's vs a mage.. after turn 7. Why didn't he use ice lance on the yeti? he had "lethal" next turn and that play may have won him the game. The greed is real
@ 4:50 - The answer is extremely simple, and I'm actually surprised you aren't aware since it's been stated officially. Ever since Naxx's change to Deathrattles that make them proc in a predictable order (oldest --> newest), the same behavior has also been applied to Triggered Effects. In this specific situation, the Mage was absolutely correct to Fireblast Gruul, because otherwise he would have survived with 1 Health due to his effect proc'ing first.
What, in your opinion, is the best/your favorite card for each of the mana costs (0-10)? My list: 0- C̶i̶r̶c̶l̶e̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶H̶e̶a̶l̶i̶n̶g̶ EDIT: Innervate 1- Zombie Chow 2- Fiery War Axe 3- Dark Cultist 4- Mechanical Yeti 5- Sludge Belcher 6- Sylvannas Windrunner 7- Dr. Boom 8- Ragnaros the Firelord 9- Lord JARAXXUS 10- D̶e̶a̶t̶h̶w̶i̶n̶g̶ EDIT: Mind Control
I've got pretty much the same list however i prefer Unstable Portal over Win Axe, and Thought Steal over Cultist, everything else is basically the same though. :)
These are my favorites but I don't actually think all of them are good: 0- circle of healing 1- power overwhelming 2- Recombobulator 3- Hobgoblin 4- Echo of medivh 5- Fel reaver 6- Sylvannas 7- Vellen or Antonidas (I love both :')) 8- Ragnaros 9- Ysera 10- Deathwind
I just had my first 12 wins Arena!!!! The best I had gone previously was 6 wins! I have no friends, but I was so happy that I felt I needed to share this with the few people who actually look at this comment and don't think I'm a socially retarded neckbeard! Hooray!
Punted the first game by not Ice Lancing the Yeti at 3:10. The only way that game could be lost on that board was if everything got cleared with Flamestrike. That turn was the first time where Flamestrike was the best play, so the probability was high that he had it. And Ice Lancing the Yeti is just an incredible tempo play. There is really no better situation to play it.
You can see Trump is often scared of playing reaver in case it completely loses him the game, with huge relief every time he gets away with it. It's basically a wing and a prayer every time you play it in Arena. Not worth it at all. Venture Co does the exact same job with a much smaller downside.
It's the epitome of bravery as well as recklessness in arena to play Fel Reaver on turn 5 against a Paladin. You put your victory entirely in the Paladin's hands at that point, as there's basically no way to know that he doesn't have Aldor in hand. I've picked the card before and I've won using it, but the vast majority of the time I will keep it in hand for quite a while and wait until either I have no other options, or the opponent runs out of cards. When my opponents play it, more often than not they get to hit my face for 8 once, but they lose the rest of their deck in exchange, so they lose in the end.
well its a great card in what it is doing, the more aggressive the deck, the better this card is however, i can be bad in arena BUT its super rare that you fatigue by this card and on the other side it is a huge threat and tempo card therefore i think its an overall very good card
CuriousMoth A card that is not often the best play is not a good card think about really good cards, ( boom, highmane, belcher etc.) you're never really afraid to play those cards almost not mattering what the board state is, and they never lose you the game fel reaver is situational at best
laufendlich For being "super rare", I've defeated an opponent by fatigue due to Fel Reaver four out of the five times I've faced the card in Arena. I love seeing an opponent play it.
Does anyone know if Blizzard plans to keep the Arena reward packs as GvG only forever, or is it just for a limited time? Why don't they just integrate the GvG cards into the rest of the cards and make the packs a random mix of both?
i need opinion on this i been playing alot of oil rogue because i seen alot of mech mage and it tends to do well against mech is this true for everyone else or is it just me getting lucky roles.
9:32 Fireblast the guy, flamethrow the amani. Or play the shade, whatever. 9:52 Kill the guys with fireblast and ruled smith, play tazdingo. or dark iron the smith, kill aldor\amani, fireblast one guy. These two moments have cost him the game. Especially the second one.
Fel reaver is ok as long as it doesn't get frozen, peacekeeper'ed, blocked by taunts, or big game hunter'ed. If one of those things happens, you are likely to burn at least 9 cards, which will be half your deck by the time you can play it. If the opponent then changes their play to mill you, they can burn significantly more. If you end up burning 15 out of your remaining 20 cards, you are NOT just as likely to "draw into the winning fireball" as you are to discard it because that fireball is 3 times more likely to be in the pile of discarded cards. I think even if fel reaver were a 15/8 for 5 mana I still wouldn't play it. It would win roughly the same number of games because they either have an answer to it or they don't.
Hey trump I'm looking for a cool beginners deck for the shaman or warrior and don't know how to make it really good the names of the deck show the most the shaman has taunt cards only and the warrior has a lot of other cards like mechs, Merlocs, ect. What are some good decks also love the channel and keep up the good work
Can I just leave a suggestion quickly, on part 2/3 of the arena runs could you possibly blank out the current arena score for like 5 seconds. Because I occasionally click the wrong part and the part 1 is already kinda spoilt. It may just be me, but yeah
Does having two legendaries but no flamestrikes cancel out the scumbag-ness, or are all mages in arena scumbags automatically? (Except for Trump, of course)
Flamestrike always has a higher level of scumbagness, along with the top-decked Truesilver Champion and the last-card-Mind Control. Except YOU play the card of course.
0hey guys, last arena I couldn't get any 4 drops to save my life. Anyone know where they we... 19:10 oh. Also, while you are the king of value... whenever you pick arena win estimates, always remove a few if your deck doesn't have good AoE removal. You yourself have pointed out over-estimating, and I think that's the biggest culprit why :(
kerafill1116 i got a warlock draft with rag, 2 floating watchers, a dread infernal, spectral nights, double hellfire, a decent early game and only went 5 wins because i keep running into fucking mages with triple flamestrike.... how do you play around tripple flamestrike? you don't.. if they have it.. u just lose...
Misplay on 1st game? Isn't it better to drop the fell reaver asap before it loses super value. He said he was gonna save it for turn 7 so next turn the opponent will just play something stronger
Agreed, i feel like feel reaver is really best played on turn 4 or 5, because your oppenent is less likely to have an answer, and it will discard only like 1 or 2 x3cards at worst. When you play it late, you got more chance to get abused and it's just an 8/8 with downside in late game imo anyway
I've gotten so much better at hearthstone since I started watching you. Originally I'd get 0-3 in arena on average. Since I started watching you daily I'm at 3-0 and still counting! Mathematically I've gotten x-3 better since I started watching you, AND THAT DOESN'T EVEN MAKE SENSE
You should really do a rogue mech deck and compare how different the is compared to mech mage. I think this will be a very good idea for players to explore other hero mech & GVG so a "breath of fresh air" can be brought to new and veteran players.
I've tried mechs in with every class so far and i got to say that it usually works. i think warrior, hunter, priest and paladin paladin are slightly weaker usually compared to the other classes. but basically it comes down to the class cards(mainly mechs and spells) and the type of mech synergy your trying to get. they're usually aggressive but I've had success with more mid-rage but still fairly aggressive type of deck. mage just got a lot of cool new stuff from gvg that make it the best class for an aggressive mech dech, also due to the burn you can get with mage cards. i couldn't help putting antonitus in there because of all those sweet spare parts.
arena doesnt have too many spells, so u could consider loatheb a 5 mana 5/5. Gruul is 8 mana 8/8 with a good upside in arena, basicly heals itself for 1 each turn, since the additional damage wont matter most of the times.
Lachgummei People say this all the time, and they're simply wrong. Yeh, maybe the first like, 4 players you face will have zero spells, but once you get high wins, every single opponent you face (except Warriors), will have some strong spells. Loatheb is excellent in arena because it guarantees you keep your advantage going into your next turn. I actually can't believe there's players who think arena doesn't have many spells, while at the same there's many players that whine and complain about Mages flooding arena and having 3 Fireballs or Flamestrikes every time. I've gotten Loatheb two times in arena, and both of those decks went 12 wins. Every time I faced a Mage, I play it on turn 6 to deny the Flamestrike for a turn, and they die because of it. Works with other classes too. Play it to deny Consecration, Hex, Shadow Word Death, whatever. The battlecry wins games if you time it well, simple as that. Compared to that, Gruul has no utility whatsoever, and is simply a fat dude. His ability is cool, but just overkill. If the opponent couldn't kill an 8/8, then it growing into a 13/13 or whatever is just winning more. I'd rather have a Force Tank MAX over Gruul every time.
lkjkhfggd Well first: thanks for being polite. Second, i agree with you that Loatheb is a great card and im not sure if i would have picked gruul over it. I can only say that in my arenaexperience i ran against loatheb about 4-5 times and i dont remember any devastating outcome for me... But i never drafted it so its not like i can really argue from my perspective. Its just not as great as in constructed i guess. If you deny a really good flamestrike its OP, since it secures your win. But for that you must have been ahead, that doesnt really work when ure behind. Still i get that you can play more relieved having loatheb on your hand to deny the flamestrike, which has comebackpotential when you need to get minions on the board. I dont agree that the gruul is a winning more card. Its the simple heavy hitter in your deck like FTMAX but i would give it the credit that it has some sort of semitaunt, since the opponent might have to kill it fast (as long as he cant go for face of course). Btw i got into the situation once that i had rag on the hand and the opponent played gruul. since i never played against gruul before i played rag and faced a 9/1 :D dont ever do that.
Lachgummei Simply put spells aren't guaranteed in arena so sometimes Loatheb is just a 5 mana 5/5. Gruul on the other hand is guaranteed to require hard removal or put you ahead on board.
Not worth it. You're trying to kill your own fell reaver asap. Reaver will likely be removed by some spell anyways or straight out traded. You can only hope you don't lose too many cards the next turn after. You're fucked anyways for using it tho
Fel reaver is a weird card. It's easy to think of the worst case scenario where you end up discarding like 12 cards and it also got dealt with on the same turn and then you cry many tears. But honestly in arena it's not that likely for your opponent to be able to deal with it that easily. Bgh is very unlikely. And even cards like polymorph and hex are less likely. Aswell as the cards you will be discarding are of lower quality. I forgot who said it. But if the game doesn't go on untill fatigue then you can look at the cards fel reaver discarded as just never being drawn in the first place. So for any of the games that don't go to fatigue it's actaully not that bad. It can potentially just win you the game. The +2 health over venture co ends up being quite notable imo. And also ofcourse unlike venture co your minions don't cost more so you can play strong minions on the following turns. I don't rate the card very highly and tbh i don't like it very much. But i do think many people underate it a bit too much
luckygozer the cards that you discard do matter , even if you dont go to fatique , if you discard 2 fireballs and end up not being able to kill a big minion which destroys you, fel reaver bumped your rear end.
Merlinose thats not true, tired of ppl saying stupid stuff like that.... just think of the cards u burnt as cards that were at the bottom of ur deck since the deck is random anyways. when u draw ur next card after the discards, just think that THAT CARD was the next one u wouldve drawn anyways and the burnt cards are at the bottom of the deck. the burnt cards matter 0% since it is randomly generated as is the deck order. theres also some probabilities u can use to check this but its on another comment. but u guys just make me so mad
Seems to be typical of arena these days. Players just go for the face and I'm unable to punish them. It's kind of infuriating as often I'll have the two or more cards in my draft that would punish them except I won't draw them and the face hitters pay off.
Chow's a great card, although noobs want to argue about it due to the 5 health restoration to be some sort of detriment since Card advantage > Health. Now, I don't see any way in hell or back where you can justify using Fel Reaver under almost any circumstance.
Silly trump, you can't win arena through individual value these days. You need synergy, My last 10-12 wins were with a secrets mage (Kirin tor, alchemist, etc), 4 north shire clerics, almost zoo, etc,
Talking about synergy, I got a deck with 3 auctioneers and 3 conseals and all other rouge spells. the best game I had 2 consealed auctioneer with 4 spells in hand. 4Head
So you HAVE to have one card in particular to get to 12 wins? This is news to me, thank you for sharing. What would those cards be for all the classes, might I ask?
Honestly Trump was fucked. Yes no Flamestrikes. Still his removal was moot compared to his losses. That first mage had what 4 fireballs and a Flamestrike? With Rag. Ouch. Good cards mean shit without value. As usual Gruul does shit. I ran into playing him. Seemed my opponent had an answer.
Can someone make animated in WoW video where Jaina says: "My dear, I've created the army which now is as almost loved as your one. So can I now go in raid for people's angriness with u?" And than Mr.Scum smash her face with his bow saying:"I hunt ALONE"
The worst feeling in arena is when you finally overcome a mage's aggression and get board control and they start fireblasting face every turn like they're a mini-hunter. And you KNOW they either have the damage in hand to kill you in 1-2 turns or they're banking on drawing it before you overwhelm them.

He's not often scared of playing it, just that it's not always the best play. You're projecting your own biases onto Trump.
well its a great card in what it is doing,

Correct me if wrong, but you didnt draw antonidas in any if those games except by fellreaver once, how unlikely is that? :/
I like the term "discard face" in regards to Fel Reaver, now I'm going to use it too.

When the opponent played Cult Master at 10:02 did anyone else go "Ooooofff" in their head? Because I did out loud.
I love how Trump tries so hard to make Fel Reaver look good. You gotta admire his tenacity.
PRAISE BE TO FEL REAVER ! THE PROVIDER OF TOPDECKS!
3 fireballs, flamestrike, heals to keep going, bliizard and a damn ragnaros wtf blizz
Fel reaver is ok as long as it doesn't get frozen, peacekeeper'ed, blocked by taunts, or big game hunter'ed. did he attack the junk heal bot and it stayed on the board?
Fireball, Fireball, Fireball, Ragnaros, flamecannon, WELCOME TO MOLTEN CORE TRUMP
Does having two legendaries but no flamestrikes cancel out the scumbag-ness, or are all mages in arena scumbags automatically? (Except for Trump, of course)
Yes
Yes
Yes
Flamestrike always has a higher level of scumbagness, along with the top-decked Truesilver Champion and the last-card-Mind Control. Except YOU play the card of course.
I'll take on the multiple Flamestrike Mage anyday. What I hate is getting top-deck Fireballed for lethal, and in arena, Antonidas is total bs.
Fel Reaver must be a nightmare for editing, keeping track of all those cards.
Oh man that paladin kicked ass.
that mage at 4-0 had a ridiculous deck. at least 3 fireballs, a flamestrike, blizzard, ragnaros, that's why its so hard to win arena
that "I ❤人類" on the t-shirt

did u just predict 12 wins without flamestrikes?...
kerafill1116
i got a warlock draft with rag, 2 floating watchers, a dread infernal, spectral nights, double hellfire, a decent early game and only went 5 wins because i keep running into fucking mages with triple flamestrike.... how do you play around tripple flamestrike? you don't.. if they have it.. u just lose...
though, paladins and their 5 truesilver champions per deck are op.. im so lucky that i didnt get any of them since 10 runs... ANY...
That mage in the beginning Lina Inversed it hard. Enemy too strong? Just continue to throw fireballs till nothing is there to hassle you anymore.

T.T you where so much better than me
Tallen Smith Hahah it will come, my best in arena is 8 wins, still have to get my first 12 wins, feels like it won't ever happen :'c
4 wins. Boom. OMG I'm so good. Thats like... 1/3 of 12. Oh man, so good. Might as well just hand over that #1 Legend Spot.
Hahah, what's your best?

Simply put spells aren't guaranteed in arena so sometimes Loatheb is just a 5 mana 5/5.
Gruul on the other hand is guaranteed to require hard removal or put you ahead on board.
shame that such a sick deck didnt manage to get more wins! if you only had one flamestrike..
i don't understand why trump likes reaver so much when it's not a control card, you want it hitting face not minions.
Not worth it. You're trying to kill your own fell reaver asap. Reaver will likely be removed by some spell anyways or straight out traded. You can only hope you don't lose too many cards the next turn after. You're fucked anyways for using it tho
I generally don't like the card either. +1/+2 isn't enough of a benefit to make me want it over Venture Co. Merc.
Fel reaver is a weird card.
It's easy to think of the worst case scenario where you end up discarding like 12 cards and it also got dealt with on the same turn and then you cry many tears.

But i do think many people underate it a bit too much
luckygozer
the cards that you discard do matter , even if you dont go to fatique , if you discard 2 fireballs and end up not being able to kill a big minion which destroys you, fel reaver bumped your rear end.
His opponent got legendary card too :( i wish i can get two too. :D
Seems to be typical of arena these days. Players just go for the face and I'm unable to punish them. It's kind of infuriating as often I'll have the two or more cards in my draft that would punish them except I won't draw them and the face hitters pay off.
yeah gruul would have survived if he didnt ping it cuz he was on the board first
good deck but i would never guess 12 wins without flamestrike :D. gg.
I'm sad, how Archmage Antonidas is always at the bottom of this deck...
Trump's arena skills have gone down considerably since he started to focus on constructed mainly...
Today i had really good arena run.. i had 7 wins with no loss... i had the dream in my hand.. and then i crushed it with 3 straith losses.... sadface
Nice 12 wins trump.
I got a golden Firelord in a pack I earned with gold. It's friggen awesome...
Good for you i got golden jarexxex which is like a golden hero more swag
shuvo rahman
When I use it with my rogue deck, I like to give it stealth. mwahahahaha
Ethan Diamond giving it stealth is useless because rag deals dmg and loses the stealth
Mark tyler he doesn't attack so it doesn't break stealth...
Fel Reaver - it's not a good card, please stop saying it is
It is. You just need to know when to take a risk.
Mad Hatters in jeans it's not a good card
JAHurley41
Try it sometime in arena, you might be surprised.
Mad Hatters in jeans no, because it's not a good card
4Head
Karl-Erik Rootamm Lmao you probably burned into fatigue like that.
lies i went 12-1 by having 7 fire balls as a mage
Skriz Well yeah, I did list 4 clerics as one of my high wins. That or OP class cards, basically a standard good arena deck just isn't enough anymore.
Would have gone 12 wins if he had 2 skillstrikes
8:55 "Killing a 1/1 for free"
How is spending two mana and not playing a creature considered free?
Because you didn't need to use a card to do it.
Sylvester Holmes
Just mana and tempo.
Still didn't use a card.
Sylvester Holmes
Still not free.
If you say so.
What bad luck!
No flamestrikes and he predicts 12 wins?
Pretty sure he makes it ^^
So you HAVE to have one card in particular to get to 12 wins? This is news to me, thank you for sharing.
What would those cards be for all the classes, might I ask?
The Creator other classes have different ways of dealing with large threats
Honestly Trump was fucked. Yes no Flamestrikes. Still his removal was moot compared to his losses. That first mage had what 4 fireballs and a Flamestrike? With Rag. Ouch. Good cards mean shit without value. As usual Gruul does shit. I ran into playing him. Seemed my opponent had an answer.
Under 300 club :D
TUCK FRUMP
Dude. Bro. You lost all of them.
Can someone make animated in WoW video where Jaina says: "My dear, I've created the army which now is as almost loved as your one. So can I now go in raid for people's angriness with u?" And than Mr.Scum smash her face with his bow saying:"I hunt ALONE"
discard his FACE
