Beautiful piece! Late Elgar is exquisite. I am a pianist and will be performing this Sonata with a very talented violinist in April. Rich, satisfying music--first rate!
Is this Hugh Bean? It sounds awfully like him. I was so lucky to get to know him in the last ten years or so of his astonishing life. The kindest, wittiest, wisest, humblest musician imaginable. Elgar would have been so proud of this recording. Vaughan Williams thought he was the Goods. And so he was. Sorely missed.

In his later life, the family of Hugh's former teacher Albert Sammons loaned him his Goffriller violin which he thought was the greatest compliment of his life. One handshake away from Elgar himself.
To me the power and beauty of this playing is that it is slightly understated yet passionate at the same time. But maybe that's just how I like to hear Elgar's music..…ツ……Hᴜɢʜ….TU…
hehehe, i looked this piece up after seeing the anime. :) the piece is stunning- i want to play it! but i need a violinist and lots of time to practice. . .
English composers are underrated in my opinion, this is such a masterpiece.
